I was torn between rating 2 or 3 stars. If you want to see a new release of a movie expected to be the biggest box office draw for the week (and which Danbarry will therefore show in their bigger, nicer screening rooms), and you don't feel like driving to Grove City or Columbus, it's tolerable. It obviously doesn't touch the quality of something like an AMC (in picture size, clarity, or especially sound), but it'll do. If you want to see something that has been out for a few weeks, or which they don't expect to sell a lot of tickets, however, you may as well forget it. Some of their side theaters are ridiculously bad, with tiny screens and terrible sound (without exaggeration, the sound in my living room is better, and I don't even have a surround sound system). Don't expect to catch independent or lower budget films here very often, not that I blame the management for that, as there's sadly just not enough interest in this area for those films to be profitable for them. But like I said, there are no other options in Chillicothe, and if you don't feel like driving at least 40 minutes, you can make it work for some releases if you're catching them quickly. Just know what you're getting into. The staff has been nice enough, and we've never had a problem with anything other than picture and sound...it's just that those experiences have been bad enough to make a...
Read moreGoing to the movies is a dying form of entertainment. I love seeing movies in the theater and having that movie night experience vs. the streaming service same old, same old on the couch at home. BUT, with that you need that chemistry and environment.
Glad it's back, but looks like they dust off the cobwebs and opened back up. Didn't see much of a change or update. Except now the 'arcade' is roped off and out of order permanently. The site of the theater and smell is very terrifying. Was not able to sit next to my party as seats had chocolate and mystery items stuck to them. The white concrete looked like some post-apocalyptic battle stained mess. Paint it or clean it, but the theater had the vibe that I was watching an old movie in a Chernobyl movie theater. Not trying to be harsh or dramatic but just lacked the theater vibe.
Gave 3 stars cause I did enjoy the movie, even if my soda was diet (I didn't get diet) and staff said 'yea we know' when I stated the sodas were not correctly marked and popcorn wasn't the best. I have seen the interview on TV about the new owner and his vision for this theater and hope to see it come true. He seemed to have passion for it and that's what it needs! Hope to see changes and will try again at some later time. For now will make the...
Read moreAdmittingly enough I was hesitant to watch a movie here. After more than a year of going to Columbus to watch movies on a large screen I didn't know what to expect.
But I want to take this time to give kudos to the people who purchased the theater. The very first thing I noticed was how clean it was.
Getting to the movie experience, I can tell you that the sound system has been upgraded. There was a point in the movie, Spider-Man No Way Home, a helicopter was hovering in the distance and you could it behind you. NICE.
The screen was the same size as it always been but the picture quality was pretty go. It was in SD, but again it was a clean.
Also anyone who knows me, knows that I like food. The concession stand prices are so much better than those in Columbus.
In short want to see a movie and don't want to spend a lot of money? And not worry about things crawling on ya? This is the place!
BTW, supporting local businesses is great but honestly it's hard sometimes given what u get sometimes but thus place will be getting my continued support. Good luck to you I hope you continue to grow into a modern movie...
