Unfortunately my experience with Richter and Phillips has been, simply put, atrocious. I bought an engagement ring and diamond from here and since then, all of the following has happened:
When I bought the engagement ring and diamond, the only change being made was that the ring was to be resized (and of course the diamond was to put put on the the ring). When I received it, it didn’t have the diamond I bought on it (unbeknownst to me at the time). I set plans for my engagement (as I had the ring) and out of the blue I’m told that, out of the two items I bought, one was missing. This obviously heavily concerns me in regards to any future purchase because I would assume the serial number is confirmed when placing the diamond in the ring, but that does not seem to be the case for whatever reason.
When I went to pick up the ring for a second time, there was no way to confirm whether the diamond in the ring was correct as the cert hadn’t arrived and the serial number was behind a prong. While I understand neither was intentional and both were seemingly out of the control of Richter and Phillips, obviously this made me extremely uneasy as I had to simply go off their word when it previously did not have the diamond I purchased on it.
I’ve had to wait for the cert and appraisal far longer than I was initially told (approximately a month and a half wait as compared to what I was told would be approximately two weeks) as the wrong address was put on the letter.
Picking up the cert and appraisal today, I was far more concerned with the cert due to the previous failures, so I overlooked the appraisal. Unfortunately the appraisal still has an incorrect address, which I believe will bar me from adding the ring to my home insurance policy.
This whole ordeal has been absolutely terrible. I can not recommend Richter and Phillips to ANYONE due to the repeated failures on their end. I would hope that something will change in their process so that nobody has to go through this same...
Read moreWe heard great things about this store, so we wanted to get my engagement ring here. Both times we went (once without an appointment and once with) were terrible experiences. Both times we were essentially belittled for wanting a more custom ring instead of picking out a plain solitaire…the store does custom designing so I’m not sure why we were treated like morons for wanting a custom ring. When we made our appointment for our second visit hoping we had just dealt with a bad salesperson the first time, we were heavily disappointed. We waited 30min while our consultant helped someone else, this was not a huge deal but annoying as we had set an appointment time. Then, we he finally came over he didn’t even know our names or what we were shopping for which is info we had put in while making the appointment. He then spent the next 40 minutes telling me I didn’t want a gold ring (as I was wearing all gold jewelry) and tried to sell us platinum rings that looked nothing like what I had shown him, trying to convince me to just get a solitaire instead of talking about custom designs. He barely spoke to me and only to my boyfriend as though it wasn’t me who will wear the ring, he didn’t offer us any drinks until we asked because every other consultation had free champagne, and he just generally talked down to us the entire appointment. We tried to give this store a second chance and it was a total waste of my time. They do have a large selection of rings to try on and that is the only positive part of the store. The security treated us better than the person who was supposed to be...
Read moreI can’t speak highly enough of Richter & Phillips and everyone in the watch department - specifically Blake. I used to work a block away and would come in a few times a month over lunch just to talk watches. I visited probably 20-30 times before making a purchase, and every time I was treated like an old friend - never pressured to buy or rushed out the door.
Blake doesn’t need to sell - he builds relationships with his customers, and helps find what works for them. When I finally thought i had decided on what to buy, we discussed the options, and he actually ended up selling me a slightly less expensive watch because it’s what worked for me.
I’ve purchased a few Tudor watches here and will continue to come back. Why? Because of their knowledge of literally every watch in the case is beyond belief. Because they truly care about their customers. Because there’s no pressure to buy - no trying to up-sell you. Because they understand that watch nerds are a community and sometimes we just need to talk things out (for months) before making decisions. Because they work to find the right timepiece for you, regardless of price point.
There is no other place in Cincinnati that I would consider for buying a watch. If you’re in the market for a nice watch, go to Richter & Phillips, talk to Blake, and he will help you find the perfect...
