My family and I went to Niagara Falls for our family vacation. We ventured around town to multiple restaurants over the course of our time in Niagara. On our last night we decided to check out Seva because it is a very cool looking restaurant. We made a reservation for 4 - Adults, 1 - teen and 2 - toddlers at 730pm. When we arrived we waited near the door for someone to seat us and confirm our reservation. We were told by a bartender to sit anywhere. At first we were going to sit outside but there was a lounge singer and we wanted to be able to easily converse amongst ourselves. There were only a few tables taken by patrons when we walked in and a few at the bar. So, we decided to sit in a booth big enough for our group. One of the two bartenders, who didn’t even say her name, came over and told us about the QR code menu. Which we all quickly went to. She came back around after and we had a couple questions about some beer on their menu. The bartender in question was helpful and brought us some large samples for us to try. A few of us ended up on some of their signature cocktails and a coffee, the kids ended up with apple juice. It took about 15 minutes to get the drinks, mind you it wasn’t busy at all. When she came back we ordered our food, she didn’t write anything down and for the purpose of keeping the kids happy we asked for one of the food items to come out early.
We waited….and waited and waited. The bartender who was helping us never came back to check up on the table. Fourth-Five minutes into waiting, one of our party asked her if there was any update. She said that the kitchen is swamped and it will be out soon. There were still a few tables outside, most of which were eating already, as well as a few people at the bar.
So we waited some longer. Another Fourty-Five minutes passed. It was now 9:15, the kids are reaching their limit of waiting. So the member of our party that questioned previously went up and asked to speak to the manager. The bartender said “she is in the kitchen making food.” She went back to get her and the manager came out in a very angry mood. Started yelling at the person who requested her saying that they were swamped with customers, mind you there were a few tables with people and a few people at the bar. The person was who was in our party said that he just wanted to know where our food was and that we were almost at the 2 hour point. He also mentioned that there were no people who were sitting at the table we were going to take and they were finishing up their food. The manager lady told him he was wrong then proceeded to look at him, pointed to the door and yelled “HAVE A GOOD NIGHT.” We all got up and there was a question about whether we paid for our drinks or just got kicked out. So, we paid anyway and went down the street to AW where the service was much better. They included an automatic tip of 22% on the party because it was more than 5 people. Utterly ridiculous and they did not deserve it.
We initially ordered:
Some house cocktails 3 apple juices A cappuccino
3 orders of shrimp tacos 1 order of chicken tacos 1 kids hot dog A berry salad An order of pizza rolls
Will not recommend this place to anyone. They are truly unprofessional here and need to rethink their customer...
Read moreI went to this restaurant twice in one day. Once for breakfast and another for dinner, so I had the chance to try two menus.
Both times when we entered, we were just looked at and barely acknowledged. There was nothing to indicate where to sit. We eventually got seated, but it sort of felt unwelcoming to walk in and not be properly greeted.
Breakfast: The waiter we had was nice, so no issues with him, but the food was not very good. I ordered a "freshly baked" cinnamon roll. I thought maybe it'd be a homemade one, but it was very obvious that it was from a can. It had the after taste that canned biscuits and cinnamon rolls have. I would have been happy with the canned roll though if it was actually warm. It was clear that the cinnamon roll was sitting under a heat lamp instead of being properly warmed, because it was cold and dense in the middle. The side of potatoes I had were very crispy, but they weren't hot and tasted like chicken for some reason. I didn't order a special drink, but my glass of water had something floating in it and stuck to the glass.
I paid a lot of money for a very disappointing breakfast.
My group wanted to try dinner there, so we went again in the evening to try the dinner menu. I ordered the flatbread and my partner had the chicken wings. It's important to point out that we had a table of 4 and the waitress (who was also very nice, just busy due to having to take care of a lot of tables), brought out 2 of the meals and we had to wait about 15 minutes for the other. It's really ideal to get to eat together as a family instead of either a) having to watch others eat while you are hungry or b) having to watch your food get cold so you can eat with your family.
The sauce on the wings was good but my partner could tell that the wings were not fresh and likely just reheated. The flatbread was $21 and was so unpleasantly sweet that I could not eat much of it. The flatbread tasted like it was just shoved under that heat lamp again and not actually baked. This meal, like the one before, was a lot of money and not satisfying at all. I do want to say that our waitress was lovely. I do not know her name, but she had blonde hair and...
Read moreI’d like to leave a review for the hotel I stayed at during a weekend trip to Niagara Falls. The hotel has a boutique style and is in a very convenient location-walking distance to the Visitor Center, Niagara Falls, and even the bridge to the Canadian side.
However, I want to point out our experience at the restaurant, SEVA. We went there for breakfast around 9:30 a.m. The restaurant was crowded, with only one server handling everything—he was also acting as the barista, bartender, food runner, and cashier. There was also one busser helping him. Both of them were very busy. We waited quite a while, and eventually, my husband had to walk up to the bar to speak with the server, who apologized to us. The food took nearly an hour to arrive, and we ended up finishing breakfast around 11:30 a.m. IT WAS NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE!!! Despite the long wait, we saw that the server and the busser were doing their best under pressure.
On our second night, we came back after dinner because my husband wanted a drink and I wanted dessert. The restaurant and bar weren’t busy, so we decided to give it another try. My husband ordered a classic cocktail, but we think the bartender forgot some ingredient —it didn’t taste or look right. My dessert also took forever to come out. There were only two other tables with guests, A few people at the bar, and I still had to wait 45 minutes for a single dessert. I almost canceled it. We ended up only ate a few bites. That wait time was UNBELIEVABLE and VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!
We noticed (both times) the staff working hard and constantly apologizing to customers. We truly hope management provides proper training and support to the kitchen, bar staff. We loved staying at the hotel, but the restaurant experience could have been so much better. The staff is hardworking, but poor management and lack of organization really affected the overall experience.
We left feeling disappointed and also feeling bad for those hardworking employees who are left to deal with these issues...
