Anchor Bar Niagara Falls — Restaurant in City of Niagara Falls

For a place with the "original" chicken wing, I admit I was a bit discouraged. Surprised at how we were treated as a customer. We were the waitresses last party of the day, she made that known right away. We all ordered. It took 20 minutes to get drinks to the table. We actually had our appetizer before we got our drinks (sodas, nothing from the bar)! It took another 45 minutes to get our orders. We got a variety of wings, burger and a salad. The salad had field greens mentioned in the description and there was no actual leaf of lettuce or spinach. It had only arugula and some purple veg (sorry, I do not know the name of this green) that was as bitter as the arugula. The wings were just okay. The sauce had no pop. The dipping sauce was prepackaged in little containers with the foil peel off lids, not store made as most wing places do. We did have a certain expectation when you go to the original store. This was a disappointment. Having a server that seemed to be upset because she was sat another table and she seemed put off to serving us. No refills on drinks were offered till we asked for them. The other food was tasty, the bread to the meatball sub was very soggy, the tenders were okay, juicy, but not anything I would not get at a fast food place. We always tip over 18%. We did not here because, at the waitresses descretion she put on the large party tip (table of 8) and we did not add any tip as we normally would have due to the lack of service, not the food. We were ignored quite a while before our server came over. Was after the hostess even said I don't know who has your area, apparently she didn't care enough to even find out. Two people at the bar and three people at the hostess stand or talking together while we sat there for 15 minutes. Waiting for someone to at least bring us some water. We ordered beers and wings. The beer was cold but the wings tasted like they were cooked twice, The address were very dry and crispy like they were overdone. There are other places in the area with better wings. I would have liked to have tried the wings from other places with the sauce from the anchor bar. Parking was also not labeled well and we spent 15 minutes trying to park in a parking lot with no hourly options, then on the street and the payment booths with not accept any credit cards. By the time we got the app downloaded and started to pay, we realized that the Holiday inn parking lot next to the anchor bar is where you can park for free. Not worth the hassle and it seems like the help doesn't really want you there. Definitely not customer service oriented. I really don't like going to places where the help. Iconic, landmark place to eat while in Niagra Falls, NY. It was hyped up by friends before we traveled up to Niagra Falls, and it totally lived up to the hype. They claim to be the home of the original Buffalo wings (they have a location in Buffalo, NY). We visited on a Wednesday at late lunch (1pm), and there wasn't much of a crowd. The waitress immediately greeted us, explained the menu a little, and took our drink order. Drinks came out pretty quickly, and she took our food order then as well. I ordered the Anchor Bar Wings and Beef on Weck. Our food came out relatively quickly, 10 minutes or maybe a bit more. Oh. My. Goodness!! Absolutely amazing! The beef sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. All of it. The wings were super meaty. I got the hot pepper and bacon jam wing sauce. Oh lord! BACON on WINGS!! Food quality was outstanding. My wife has a gluten allergy and they do have gluten-free options as well as gluten-free buns for sandwiches. Prices were on par with similar restaurants. Overall the staff was great. No complaints at all. There is plenty of seating and the overall dining area, as well as restrooms, were clean, orderly, and very well maintained.
