The main reason I chose this hotel over others is because it's the only one that had a free breakfast and a microwave. And I'll admit, I was dreading this place after seeing some of the reviews, and I'm not negating those, but my experience was very different! Maybe it's because we were staying so long, we were given one of the nicer rooms. Rooms are soundproof, though you can still hear people in the hallway! I've also never been given so many towels.
There were a few minor issues though. The last guests' trash wasn't taken out, and we had some issues with the toilet and sink. Also, be careful with the refrigerator, because it freezes your food and drinks. House keeping is on request only.
I love that they have a bag storage area, so you don't have to carry your bags around while you wait until you can check in or your taxi arrives. You can request a late checkout for an additional $25, but if you don't wanna hangout in town or at the airport, but it only gets you two extra hours, so not worth it in my opinion. Breakfast is too crowded and there is no privacy at all! Only went once! One safety issue, there is a sign in the elevator that says, "In case of fire, take the stairs", yet there are so signs anywhere indicating where the stairs are. If there was a fire, we wouldn't even know how to get out. This definitely needs to be fixed. The location of the stairs is the first thing that guests should know.
Location wise, it's right on the edge of where the sketchy neighborhood starts, but just don't go across the street from where the entrance is, and you'll be fine. Everything going towards the falls is fine and not sketchy at all. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the falls, tourist district and is right across from the city's oldest buildings, and the free sight-seeing shuttle stops just a couple blocks away. My one complaint about the location though is the lack of a grocery store and variety. Almost all the restaurants in the vicinity are INDIAN restaurants! It's like they don't have any other people living or visiting here.
At least the hotel itself has a small store where you can buy drinks and snacks. There's also vending machines, but some of them don't work, and they're so expensive. $4 for a bottle of water and they only take card or $1 bills, which is really annoying if you don't have change or want to buy multiple items.
This hotel seems to have a good opinion around town and I personally had a good experience, but based on some of the other reviews, staying here might be a bit of a gamble.
The main reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5, is because of the lack of a grocery store in the area, as well as the area having almost only Indian...
Read moreI would suggest others to book the hotel in the Toronto side. It’s a beautiful view, more fun, hotel is cheaper and it’s closer to all restaurants, activities, and casino. The biggest thing is it’s cheaper and has more choices.
Hotel advertised they have laundry but this is false info. We have to get our dirty clothes to the sister hotel next to it, 3 mins walk, and explained to the front desk of that hotel to get a key to go up to the 2nd floor to do our laundry.
Breakfast food doesn’t have much food and the women whose works at the breakfast room is very very rude to everyone including children, elderly. She scream and yelled at everyone that not to dripping out anything. If you come to ask for a spoon or any question she will answered with a mean tone. There was a guest didn’t know how to used the toaster and the slide of bread got stuck inside. She yelled at him snd turned around said it loud that he doesn’t know how to read the instructions. My children got yelled at for open the cooler to get the yogurts. They just open the door and she yelled at them to close the door. Other women just stepped to the coffee machine to get coffee, she then yelled at them too to remind not to drip it out. It’s very crowded but they have two people work there and if it’s not enough worker she needs to talk to manager. People paid for staying and enjoy the food not to get yelled at or to make ashamed on them .
We paid : $200 plus tax for a night. Each bottle water or pop in the machine cost $4. Two levels and each most of the room are next to elevator
Check in. Quick and friendly staffs. Very crowded at the time we stayed for 2 nights. The key cards (2 keys for 4 people) are weird. One key need to press down the door handler, the other key need to push up after you scanned the key. No one told us this until we couldn’t get in the room.
Room is spacious but the bathroom is very small and dirty. We got 3 towels for 4 people and the shampoo and conditioner doesn’t smell good . Bathtub is very very dirty.
TV has no YouTube or Nexflix just simple local channel.
Water in the pool is very cold.
Our car had problems and the manager referred us to a mechanic that is. A few mins from the hotel . We are very appreciated her kindnesses. .
I would not go back to this hotel bc of the pricey, the room and the service.
It’s about 15 mins walk to the fall. It’s next to casino and 3...
Read moreMy family and I had an absolutely terrible experience at the Wingate by Wyndham Niagara Falls over the weekend. The hotel is old, run-down, and in desperate need of repairs. From the moment we arrived, we noticed the place was far from what we expected. The elevators were sketchy and noisy, making us feel unsafe every time we used them. To make matters worse, the supposedly "secured" door on the side of the hotel wasn't locked, meaning anyone could enter and have direct access to the rooms. A huge safety concern!
The condition of our room was shocking. It was barely clean, with mold growing on the soap dispensers in the bathroom. The bathroom doors were dirty and broken—just disgusting. We called for room service to request additional towels and washcloths, but we never received them. The lack of service and attention to guest needs was appalling.
The billing process was another nightmare. There were extra fees added to our bill that were never disclosed upfront, and when we tried to get assistance, the representative couldn't even explain how the billing system worked. To top it off, we were told they wouldn’t accept cash, which was incredibly inconvenient.
The worst part of our stay was our interaction with Rose D., the operations manager. Rose was incredibly rude and unprofessional. They tried to overcharge our account by nearly $2,000, and when we questioned it, Rose became hostile. She told us that we needed to "figure out how to pay it" and even went as far as to threaten violence, saying she would punch me in the face if I didn’t comply. This was beyond unacceptable, and we never raised our voices or acted out of line; we were just concerned about the multiple charges to our card.
When Dan, the hotel manager, finally got involved, he managed to release the hold and convert it into a charge. However, Rose's behavior was never addressed while we were there, and Dan didn't even apologize for her outrageous conduct. To add insult to injury, once we were on the road home, Dan called to say that he noticed we had indeed been overcharged by hundreds of dollars. The lack of accountability and basic customer service was astonishing.
DO NOT STAY HERE! The hotel is run-down, the area around it is sketchy, and the service is downright terrible. I highly recommend finding a place further out if you want to enjoy your stay in Niagara Falls. This hotel and the area are to be avoided...
