I allowed my daughter to choose out of the many boat tours and she The Tropics Boat Tours because they offered a 2 hour Cruise for less than the other 1 hour Cruises. As soon as we boarded, we were greeted by Brian. Brian was very accommodating throughout the Cruise which made this Momma be able to relax and enjoy the Cruise. He was very good with my 6 year old and made her laugh. As any mother knows, if the kid isn't happy then your time is spent trying to make them happy or listening to them complain and you can't enjoy yourself. So it was nice! There is alcohol served but it was never anything unruly and everyone seemed to accommodate the fact that there were children present. Being a smoker, I enjoyed the fact that they did allow smoking on the top deck in a designated area. We saw so many dolphins and it seemed that they were literally following is on our Cruise. We were able to get very close to them. I learned some cool history about my new home of Clearwater as Zach was very informative as well as entertaining the entire time. If you were up on the top deck with him, he went into good detail about the things he was discussing, so it felt like a behind the scenes historical lesson. We also toured several stars homes as well as business tycoons and historical original homes. We were taken by a massive osprey nest. The ride itself was good and at the right speeds. Slow when needed to view wildlife and faster to experience the ocean. The Captain didn't wreck us so that makes him awesome! This was my daughter's first time on a boat and she had a blast! You have free run of the boat so you can explore wherever you like instead of being stuck in your seat. With the personality of the crew, it felt like we were on a private boat with friends! Drinks are pricey but good. One shot was more than a half of a plastic cup. I would say worth at least $15 if you were buying the same amount at a club or restaurant. They offer you a picture but charge $15. All together I would definitely recommend them to friends and family! Brian, Zach, and Eric will make sure you have a good time. The price is awesome for what you get and it's good for families as well as singles and couples. Something for everyone. Thanks for such a good time for this Momma and her little girl celebrating a late...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was an incredibly fun experience and, if you plan ahead to catch one of the less crowded cruses, can make for a fun date day. We booked our cruse on a Monday to avoid the weekend crowds and were happy we did as, even with their reduced capacity for COVID, we had what felt like an even more intimate experience. The boat was what we expected, as far as seating and look. It was clean and the restrooms were clean as well. We enjoyed a few of their specialty cocktails and were really impressed by the quality of the drinks. The liquor was top shelf and the bartender was great at crafting them. The entire crew was friendly and the check-in process was smooth so we could get to the fun. The experience is sold as guaranteeing a dolphin sighting and they did not disappoint. We came across a pod of a few of them while out on the Gulf. Also, the views from the boat of the surrounding area were amazing. Needless to say, it was a nice, relaxing, and enjoyable experience. I'm not sure if they get a bit rowdy if the boat gets busy, as we've experience on similar sight seeing cruses, but that was not the case with our experience with this operator. We would definitely recommend this tour and will be back for another! They do a sunset celebration cruise that we really want to enjoy in the near future.
NOTE: We did wear masks for the cruise unless we were seated enjoying our drinks. I believe they were required but we didn't necessarily see anyone having issues with wearing them. The lower occupancy of the boat helped us to feel safe...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately, on the day of our excursion the wind was too strong to sail into the gulf so we were restricted the the more sheltered bay area. This resulted in no dolphin sightings until we were about to dock when we spotted a lone male however the company agreed to honour their guarantee of a free return tour. They further clarified that this was open ended so - as our holiday was ending the next day, we are free to use the free tour on our next visit to Clearwater.
The boat itself is a decent size with lower covered and upper open decks, a bar which also offers soft drinks and snacks and restrooms. The upstairs deck has very little cover so you will be exposed to the elements. There is bench seating around the edge and centre of the boat and you are free to move around.
The captain was brilliant, and the guide appeared quite knowledgeable although there was little for her to comment on due to the weather. The only complaints I have here are it was difficult to hear her commentary when seated at the rear. The speakers are all at the front of the boat and I'm sure the wind also didn't help. I was also disappointed that when commenting on the star houses she pointed out one as belonging to Evel Kneivel even though at the time of our tour he had been dead for 18 years.
Overall. I would definitely recommend this trip, especially as they are true to their word in honouring the dolphin spotting guarantee unlike...
