This will not be the only review I provide, as I fully intend to reach out to Upper Management regarding my Experience over this past weekend, it was shameful. To have to do this at all is actually quite irritating, as who wants to leave a vacation with having to write a complaint about their stay as another thing to add to their To-Do List, after returning home. I have celebrated my Birthday for Years at this Resort, it has become a traditional gift from my Husband to me because I appreciated it so much. The Customer/Guest Services on my visit this weekend was so atrocious that I fully intended on making a new tradition by spending my time, energy and money elsewhere and informing others to do the same. The only thing that is influencing this decision to reconsider is a Young Man that I meet, whose name was John Z., A Bell Man who I learned is affectionately referred to as John from New Jersey. John was a literal light in the midst of the darkness of dealing with Guest Services on any and all levels. As long as I didn't need to deal with Guest/Customer Service, my Trip was fine, the moment I did, and found myself in the depths of aggravation and irritation, John showed up, out of nowhere and completely turned the situation around, including in my interaction with who I presume was the guest Services Manager, Tammy. Tammy basically "shooed" me away, as if I was bothering her, and left me standing in a lobby filled with people, looking like a lost fool. She stated that she was busy assisting another Guest, even though I was the only one anywhere near her. If a Bellman was able to resolve 40% of my issues, even the one that I approached Tammy about, without access to a computer of any sort, how difficult was it to actually resolve? He doesn't even work in Guest Services! I was treated as a Peon, a nuisance and a bother by everyone except this young man, who had no reason at any time to even deal with me as I had not requested assistance with transporting bags at any time during my stay. John would just appear, out of nowhere, and offer any assistance to make things better, why is he a Bell Man? This young man is what Guest Services and Customer Service is all about and provided the Hospitality that I actually had come to expect from Wyndham Grand. From my experience this weekend, John was the only person that has any idea of what providing Hospitality even means. I offered tips and he declined them, at every turn and just stated that he was happy that he could help. What has happened to the Guest Services at this Resort over the years? I regret the many people and family members that I have referred to this and the Bonnet Creek Property by Wyndham if this is where you all are headed, I am deeply embarrassed. The level of unwarranted condescension for even asking for help with something as simple as locating MY bags, that you all took to "storage" without approval, and a request for a late checkout, as a Gold Member, is appalling. Spending over an hour in line at The Services desk to check-in and to resolve a room issue is absolutely absurd. I am only writing this review here so that "John from New Jersey" gets the recognition that he rightfully deserves, when everyone else made me feel like Nothing, he made me feel like I was the Most Important Person in the Building. Thank You John being the sole cause of saving my Annual Birthday Celebration and my Husband sends his Thanks as well for you saving his Gift. I hope that everyone gets a chance to meet John from New Jersey, he is a wonderful Young Man with a...
Read moreI give it 2 stars for cleanliness and location. When we arrived for our 5 night stay we explained we wanted to pay cash for our visit. The staff immediately shut that idea down and said cash can only be paid at time of check out. Ok no big deal! They said they need a card on file for $100 a night deposit that would be refunded upon check out. Completely understandable! We doubled checked that only the $500 would come out of the card and we could pay for our room in cash and they confirmed. A few hours later, they charged my boyfriend’s card the price of the stay and the $500, leaving him in the negative. When we went to the front desk to figure things out they were apologetic and told us it would take up to 5 days to refund. We were very upset that we had no money for our entire vacation. Luckily, they gave us a $300 credit towards restaurants at the hotel, which I think was well deserved. At that time they decided to let us pay cash for the room so there were no other errors. Fortunately, my boyfriend spoke to the bank and disputed it so after a day or so we had access to our money back. The beach was overly crowded , they offer 2 “free” beach chairs during your stay, but then someone comes around with an ipad and asks for a tip. Of course I tipped them, but i’m already paying $35 a day for that amenity. Housekeeping did a good job but I regret tipping them because they took away our soap and did not replace it. They also did not replace our toilet paper. We kept up the do not disturb sign because we didn’t want our toiletries to be taken away again and did not want to bother the desk after our initial issue with being overcharged. Our toliet in a room also did not flush barely at all, but again we avoided the front desk. The pool was gorgeous but so crowded it was impossible to get in. Same with the hot tub. If you’re looking to be able to swim or use a hot tub I would absolutely book another hotel. We took a boat around the ocean and saw other hotels that were not nearly as crowded as this hotels part of the beach was. So regardless of our money issues, I would not return to this specific hotel; but I would definitely dine here! The food was phenomenal! My last complaint: we were checking out in the middle of the night to catch a flight. The woman at the desk told me I would be emailed a receipt. I kindly said I would like one printed out since we dealt with some dishonesty about payment, and I wanted to double check our $300 food credit was applied like they said they were accommodating us with. She told me “it would take like ten minutes for my computer to boot up so I can’t” I said Can you try.. I’d like to make sure I have no issues before I leave. A man came up and helped instead. He handed us a reciept saying we owed $76 (which makes sense we probably went a little bit over on our credit and we tipped for the beach chairs). He said we will be emailed our receipt and to have a good night! We thanked him and headed outside to meet our uber. 15 mins later when our uber arrived he stopped us and said he has no card on file to charge for the $76. Where was the card on file that they charged $2500 to? And why couldn’t he have mentioned that when we were at the desk? So my boyfriend went back inside and paid what we owed causing us to be late for our uber. I like staying in cheaper hotels with less crowded amenities, my boyfriend wanted to treat me to a “nicer” hotel. We decided never again. I hope others have a...
Read moreWords could never sufficiently convey how special the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach is to us. From the moment we walked into the hotel on our venue tour to our wedding day, our experience with the Wyndham was phenomenal from start to finish. The staff truly took such great care of us throughout the entire process. We toured and booked the venue through Wendy who was knowledgeable, organized, and easy to contact during the early planning stage of selecting our ceremony and reception package and solidifying the contract. For our wedding day, we wanted to extend the hours of our reception beyond what was included in the initial contract and Wendy was very accommodating with this. We also had a great experience working with Darrien to book our block of rooms for our guests and to book the Presidential suite.
Throughout the entire planning process, we worked very closely with Kayla as our venue coordinator. We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with her. Kayla is absolutely AMAZING at her job and she is such a sweet human. It is so clear that she genuinely cares and was fully committed to making our wedding day at the Wyndham Grand feel special. We were very impressed by her attention to detail, organization, and her flexibility. Kayla was such a calming presence to have on our team of vendors. We especially appreciated this with our wedding day being a week after Hurricane Milton and the uncertainty around if our day would go ahead. Kayla was easy to contact by email throughout the planning process and she also worked closely with our wedding planner. Our wedding incorporated US and Scottish traditions and Kayla was very accommodating with these details and how they fit in with the timing of our day. We had such a great experience coming for our menu tasting as Kayla ensured that we were taken care of and felt special. Chef Claude and the food choices for our menu truly exceeded our expectations. The food was presented beautifully and tasted even better. Chef Claude came in to check with us between each course and was accommodating to food allergies. We have received MANY compliments on the food at our wedding from our guests.
On the weekend of our wedding, the entire staff of the Wyndham Grand took such great care of us and our guests. Marty, the bellman, was friendly, personable, and always greeted us with a smile. Kayla was readily available by phone when we needed anything throughout the weekend and was flexible in allowing us to bring our decor items into the reception space the day before. The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous and our guests were very pleased with their rooms and the waterfront views. We hosted our rehearsal dinner in the Presidential Suite and the staff was very accommodating of this. We also would like to give a special shout out to the catering staff for their professional and friendly presence when serving our guests during the meal. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect thanks to the Wyndham Grand and in particular thanks to Kayla. We have received so many compliments from our wedding guests on the superior quality of this venue. The Wyndham Grand will always be such a magical place and we cannot wait to continue to come back here in the many years to come. Our wedding day would simply not be possible without the wonderful staff at the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach!! Check out the pictures attached to see how truly gorgeous...
