Very crowded for a Wyndham Resort, believe that's because it's shared with a Wyndham hotel! At check-in the valet demanded that we hand over our keys during check-in even though we told them we were just checking in and didn't need valet service, we weren't in anyone's way as we arrived late @9:30pm. We needed a transponder to open gate to the parking garage, they were out of them when we arrived, we were told is to come back to the desk in the morning when some of them had been returned, also charged $150 for incidentals in case we lost the transponder, valued at $50, or pool towel cards, valued at $45 each. We arrived at the garage and had to exit the car to hit a call button to open the gate, drove almost to the top to find another gate that said employee only, parking was full just before the gate, no area to turn around had to back down the garage, we finally got parked and went up to the room, returned to the parking garage to get stuff from the car, apparently the wrong level "the employee level" because our card wouldn't open the door to get back in, (card had to be used to enter or exit the garage from the resort) had to walk down the garage to the next level. To enter the pool area or exit it also required a card. There's only one small hot tub, one pool, and a fitness center and they're all shared with hotel side! Beach was crowded because it's located next a hot spot "Pier 60". Traffic is terrible!!! Usually the Wyndham resorts have actvities schedule, when we asked for one they referred us to the hotel side saying they are in charge of them, when seeking to attend an activity nobody knew where they were located, sent from one desk to another by staff, finally to pool where the staff replied I don't speak English, we had to wait for another person to arrive who told us they don't have activities, and not sure why they gave them to us! Rooms were very modern and not at all comfortable for families to eat together, no table just a bar with hard metal stools, you could also hear them sliding on the tile floor in the room above. Upon checkout we handed in the stuff, staff who was helping me, pulled out 2 small departure gifts and set them on the desk in front of me, as he's typing he saw a person behind me walk up in line, he didn't finish my checkout but began helping the other fellow who was in line behind me instead, meanwhile the lady at the other desk also volunteered to help him, I stood there shocked and told them, hey I was here first, I'd like to finish checkout he continued to prepare the other guys stuff, then replied oh you can go.... he threw the gifts back behind him. I didn't receive my printout, they never asked "did you enjoy your stay" I left without even...
Read moreThis review is for the owners Side. We did not stay at the Wyndham hotel . Well, I have wanted to try this resort since it was announced for the grand opening in February on 2017. Hard to book for Wyndham owners . Since I have stayed and many Wyndham properties I have quite a palate for resort accommodations. The luggage carts for owners are poor. They are also scarce. Parking is another challenge for big suvs and trucks. The parking garage is tight with only 3 handicap spaces for 105 owner rooms. Really? Disappointing unacceptable. After you try to navigate getting a scarce disrespaired luggage cart, a long wait at the 2 elevators is next. Sometimes it can take 20 minutes To get in the elevator. Way too long. Ok so let’s head Over to the pool, facing the beach which is open 24 hours. That part is cool. But this pool is way too small for the massive number of guests sharing from both the hotel and the owners resort side. I love the Wyndam watch room key cards, and love the contemporary style decor in the rooms and common areas. The beach view from the room was pleasing. The sushi at ocean high cafe was excellent in the hotel. Food served poolside was above average and the correct temperature. The staff was very friendly , and I loved the security that was very observant and protective of the guests. Free newspapers only durning the week. Plenty of umbrella and shade by the pool. If your a beach person that likes crowds and being a sardine in the pool, this is for you! I still enjoyed my stay, and would stay here again in off season next time, not July! I had rated this a 3 because of the undersized pool, and the long wait at the elevators. They did cause irritation during the expensive beach memory vacation. But then , off to the bar to relive that pain. Andrew and sea bass(Sebastian) were an incredible team like from the movie cocktails! Energy, accuracy and excitement were just part of what they were serving with a great local drink selection. The goombay smash was the drink recommend for the person turning 21 today in our party! What a hit if you like rum and coconut concoction of 🌴 island drink . Entertainment was ok, the dj’s were cool but both guitar players were not very good. The first, Justin was like the first time out singing karokee, the second Andy, was better, but not above average. Enjoyed great tunes on the hotel side guitar 🎸 player Saturday night in the lobby by a guy that looked like robin thicke. He gained them a star for the two they lost for the elevators and small pool And poor guitar entertainers the...
Read moreLet me start by saying we have stayed at the Club Wyndham Clearwater Beach several times and enjoyed every stay. But this visit has been very disappointing. ||||After we checked into a two bedroom unit, I noticed the living room carpet was drenched. Not damp, literally soaking wet. ||||So I contacted the front desk and they sent engineering up right away. He checked the AC unit but couldn't find the source of the water. He decided to send someone up the next day with an air blower. But in the meantime, housekeeping dropped off extra towels so we could try and absorb most of the water. ||||I explained we were six guests and one couple would be sleeping on the pull out sofa in the living room. Not knowing where the water was coming from, I was concerned water would continue to flood the unit. And there was definitely a mildew or moldy smell in the unit. ||||So after he left I went down to the front desk and asked if they could move us to another unit. I was told no because engineering was taking care of it. Well, let me tell you after a long day of traveling, stomping on bath towels to dry out a water logged carpet is not my idea of a vacation. ||||The engineer did call me back to let me know that he had found a maintenance report that stated our unit (#576) had been accidentally flooded by a repairman working on the AC unit three days prior. ||||So let's recap. ||||WYNDHAM knew the carpet was not just wet but flooded. ||||They knew because they took the unit out of inventory for three days. ||||No one thought to check if the carpet was dry before checking us in. ||||It took 8 hours the next day to dry out the carpet with the blower. ||||And Wyndham offered no compensation for the inconvenience.||||Tomorrow we check out. So what prompted me to write this review now. ||||I called this morning and got a late check out for 11am instead of 10am. But after dinner, I stopped by the front desk after realizing tomorrow we set our clocks ahead and wanted to ask if we could check out at noon. The front desk person (didn't get his name) said he was rescinding all late check-outs. I was shocked and totally confused since I had called earlier. But he claimed he was in charge and had instructed his staff to decline all late check-out requests. Okay, I argued but someone did tell me I could check out at 11am. He said 10:30am, take it or leave it. ||||You'd think management would take this opportunity to make things right with this simple request but obviously they really do not care about guest...
