I want to thank you for the awesome overnight fishing trip to the Middle Grounds.

The boat location and access to the boat is ideal which was greatly appreciated given my restricted mobility due to a recent foot injury. I was afraid that it was going to difficult to get to given the beach traffic but that was not the case at all. You simply turn off the round-about at Clearwater Beach pull directly into the parking lot, and park right behind the boat…It couldn’t have been easier.

The boat was amazing and meticulously clean…the huge cockpit with four fighting chairs was one of the largest I have ever fished off…we were fishing with 6 of us and there was room to spare. We had an abundance of room for all of our gear including a separate freezer and fridge for our supplies including plenty of room to comfortably sleep our whole crew. We all played cards around the table on the way out to the Middle Grounds in the large A/C’d interior cabin.

On the ride out, we experienced one the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen… one that will be imprinted in my mind forever.

I have to say the fishing was extraordinary, we caught a ton of grouper and snapper, in addition to Amberjack, King fish, giant Barracuda and about every other species the Gulf of Mexico has to offer. We caught so many big fighting fish that we were truly exhausted. It was a fisherman’s dream!!

Given the summer Florida heat, I have to say how much we appreciated having the ability to go inside the A/C’d cabin as it was a life saver on our fishing trip…just to have the ability to go in and cool off for a bit between catching fish to recharge the batteries or to be able to sleep in the A/C during an overnight event was a godsend.

Had a great time fishing an Overnight on The Legend last Thursday/Friday. Was impressed from the get go! Boat was clean, well-cared for, and equipped. We had a super comfortable ride out, enjoying one of those beautiful Gulf Coast sunsets. After dark, got to head into the air conditioned, and well-lit saloon to rig up for our night-time snapper spot. I’m an experienced fisherman, but usually running on smaller boats, and it was nice to be able to have the space to rig and get ready in comfort. Once we got on the spot, it was non-stop action. We got hit on every drop and brought in a mess of nice sized mangrove snappers, which was our Captain’s goal – he timed the solunar tides perfectly. Probably could have stayed up all night catching fish, but after a couple of hours of fishing, eventually we were exhausted, so cleaned up and hit the cabin for a good night’s sleep --- inside in the AC, and a comfortable bunk – way better than my traditional boat camp out. Definitely not roughing it. Next day was a short run to a natural spring, where we absolutely hammered the Amberjack’s. It was cool to catch them both with live bait and high-speed jigs. It was nice to have plenty of space to fight these AJ’s, as we had multiple “double” and even a “triple” hookup, and we all had plenty of room to maneuver on the large deck. These big “reef donkey’s” in the 35 – 40lb class were as good on the fight, as they were on the table. Took home tons of fish, and the AJ’s were absolutely delicious both bacon-wrapped on the grill and smoked. I chartered the Legend II 36' Yellowfin on 5/31 to go out to the Middle Grounds on a 12 hour, the day before American red snapper and gag grouper season opened. Misty, who handled our booking, was as friendly and informative as we could possibly have asked for in the weeks leading up to the trip. Due to lodging and flight limitations, our group unfortunately could not schedule on opening day, so I was somewhat apprehensive about how things would go. Let me tell you something: we could have been fishing blindfolded, upside-down, in the dark and Capt. Tommy still would have put us right on top of the fish we were looking for, every single time. People BS all the time about "every stop, every drop" trips, but this was actually one of them. I have been fishing one other time out of Clearwater, and on this trip with Legendary we literally caught triple the fish with a group half the size. We limited on red grouper by like 2pm, and caught a ton of good-sized mangroves, in addition to vermillion snapper, scamp, multiple varieties of porgy, etc. Hooked a blackfin tuna on a flat line that broke off about 5 feet from the stern. Even more astounding, I think between 6 of us we reeled in maybe 2-3 out-of-season fish the entire time. Capt. Tommy and relatively green first mate TJ are consummate pros; they worked their butts off and helped our first-timers out at every turn. These guys are true fishermen that clearly enjoy their time out on the water. I would put Legendary Adventures toe-to-toe against any other charter out of Tampa/Clearwater. ...
