Magic Town at the Michael Garman Museum & Gallery — Attraction in Colorado Springs

This museum pops up when you want to see some of the more “unusual” attractions in the area. When I searched for “oddities” in the area this popped up but there is nothing “odd” about this place. Magic Town is an attraction located within the Michael Garman Museum. For some people that name may not seem familiar but his works sure are. Once you look up his work you will quickly recognize the genius behind the artwork.

When you first arrive at the museum you are greeted with what appears to be a regular store/gallery selling Michael Garman products…. Until you step into Magic Town. You need to pay admission to enter Magic Town but for the fee is nothing compared to the experience you get when you walk through this museum. I won’t go into detail about the creation of this museum since it’s part of the experience as you walk through. All I can say is this truly is a magical little town.

We spent about 1 hour walking through and I could have stayed longer. While I was appreciating the time and effort that went into this masterpiece I started to notice all of the very small details that went into creating the town. The various scenes throughout the town, the different people, the holograms, the back alley shenanigans….. It’s a lot to take in with only a short visit. Take the time to look at everything…. It’s worth it! By the way, when you pay for admission, ask about the scavenger hunt game that you can play while walking through the town. You will feel even more connected with the town and you may feel like you’re actually walking through the town. It’s that much fun!!!!

A unique and truly magical experience! The time, engineering, commitment, creativity, and talent that is brought to life in this gallery is incredibly inspiring. The scenes are filled with infinite detail and most change right before your eyes. I wish I could’ve spent all day studying each one. Great for kids, adults, you name it. Special appeal for artists, history buffs, engineers and science enthusiasts, but I don’t know who would experience this and not be moved and amazed. Also great if your kids need a break from lots of hiking and want a more relaxed excursion. So much to see and enjoy but in a small space; very good for people looking for something to do with no walking. (It’s downtown so you may have to walk from your parking spot but that’s it.)

They offer a scavenger hunt with admission and they vary so that each person is looking for different details. If you’re local, you could likely do this endlessly (I know I would). I was originally planning other more widely known indoor museums in Colorado Springs for our last day before flying out, but outside of the ghost town one, the others seemed like smaller versions of things we’ve seen in more robust settings. I am glad I kept looking, and found this truly one of a kind experience to round...

This should be on everyone's Colorado Springs area must-see list!! The Michael Garman Museum and Gallery is not just a gallery of his sculpture work but a truly awe-inspiring display of his true joy: Magic Town. Magic Town is a miniature town with more detail than one could ever fathom and hidden features and creative lighting elements. Even the best dollhouses have nothing on this! Visitors can browse the impressive gallery for free but to experience the wonder of Magic Town there is a modest admission of $7.50 for adults. Make sure to take the time to play along with the scavenger hunt that is given out with each paid admission - and if you like a little harder challenge, shell out a free more dollars and get the premium scavenger hunt. Visitors who complete a premium scavenger hunt get a miniature figurine ornament or bust as a prize!
