Best staff member we encountered was the person who took our ticket, African American gentleman in a wheelchair. Friendly and welcoming. Have had him take our tickets for the last few movies we've seen here. Always a good guy. He'd get 5 stars if this were completely about him. Wanted to buy our tix online but then saw the AMC convenience fee of over $5. Of course, I was encouraged to just join their club and have this convenience fee waived. The club is...I don't know...somewhere between $7-$10 a year. Either way, they're trying to tell me that they want me to pay them for the privilege of paying them. Hooray capitalism! So, we buy the tix from one of the not-out-of-order computers at the desk where you used to have a human take your money and give you a ticket. I'm not anti-technology. And if taking jobs from people and giving the jobs to machines is the movie industry's secret for keeping ticket prices so low, then, again, I'm all for it. The problem is that when the computer malfunctions (e.g. times out while processing your order so that you have to start the order again but now the seats you wanted are no longer available because your first failed order still has an electronic ghost grip on them), there's no recourse to a solution. There was in fact a young fellow there who tried to help but really had no options. He just said, "Yeah, someone else must have grabbed those seats after your order timed out." (They didn't. When our order went through the second time, it gave us tix for the seats we chose originally instead of the seats we chose the second time around.) The other young fellow who sold us our 2 regular popcorns, 1 M&Ms, 1 slushie, and 1 water for $35 was polite and helpful, but we had to wait 5 minutes before he could get to us. Like many places these days, the theater has the feeling of being understaffed. Which, again, if that's AMC's corporate secret to keeping ticket and concession prices so low, I suppose it's a fair trade off. After the movie, the kids wanted to do lap around the mall. Fine. By the time we got down to 5 Below, it was hot. Hot in the hallway and hot in the store. I asked a very nice and patience young lady working there if the AC was broken. She very kindly said that it was and that mall maintenance said they were working on it. She also mentioned that every day that it's hot, though, their store gets warm. And when the employees lower the thermostat, it simply resets itself to a higher temperature. Very suspect. Is the AC broken or is someone (mall owners) willing to let customers and employees/tenants sweat so that they save money on AC? As we nearly finished our lap and were back up by Sun and Ski, we walked past the sitting area in the middle of the hallway with the little play area for kids, and I noticed how worn the upholstery on those seats is. Cracks in the vinyl and dirty looking. It looked like furniture you/d expect to see on the curb outside a college apartment at the end of an unsanitary semester. Then one of our kids asks to go to the bathroom so we find that service hallway across from the Sun and Ski area, but there's a sign that says something like, "Sorry but the restrooms are out of service. Please walk down to the food court and use those restrooms." Again, highly suspect. Are both the men's and women's restrooms so broken at the same time that no part of them can be used? What happened? Did all the toilets fall over on their sides? Did the water line to those bathrooms get stolen? Did all the lightbulbs fail and the replacements are literally on a slow boat from China? I doubt it. Call me cynical, but I'm guessing that the mall doesn't want to pay extra staff hours to have someone clean and maintain these restrooms. Again, hooray capitalism. That's my review (rant). The gentleman who takes tickets is excellent, but AMC as a corporation and the condition of Concord Mills Mall are shabby...
Read moreSo I went to see the new Guardians of the Galaxy with my mom, who isn't really a fan but was willing to go with me, she has a bad back and walks with a cane so we took seats on the first flight up from the nosebleed seats and were quite happy with the new seats, they're comfortable and have a nice reclining feature. So why 1 star? Because even though we got there 30 minutes early 5 minutes before the previews someone came along and said, "Those are my seats," and stood over us until we moved. Now, silly me, but if you're going to have assigned seats shouldn't you be forced to pick them? Yes, I did see the screen to select seats, but I thought it was silly, I haven't had assigned seats since High School and skipped it. It turns out that our seats were one more level up...so, my mom, with the bad back, is supposed to climb to that next row? I don't think so. In addition, a matinee price showing where each ticket is $10 is a ripoff.
Result: I might one day go back to an AMC, but never this one, it will always be tainted by this experience.
A couple more facts you should know before you ignore this and support the outrageous prices and stupid policy changes, I have been an AMC Stubs member for many years now, both before they charged and after and even since they changed it so there were both options. I paid for this membership because I go to a lot of movies and even $12 a year worked out in my favor. Ever since AMC Concord Mills got IMAX I've gone to those exclusively when I could. All this combined: I have gone just to this one theater you years and loved it because it's close to home and always clean and a good experience, as movie prices have gone up over the years I've never more than quietly grumbled and gotten over it, but now that a man can come in and force my mom to leave a seat because he selected it I won't be going back. I got my money back and was so mad at this theater that I threw away my AMC Stubs card and a free movie pass I had.
If in the end you like being treated like a child then feel free to ignore me, all I can say is good luck and may your movie going experience be...

I’ve been coming to this theatre for years and have always had a decent experience, tonight my boyfriend and I decided to come here to watch a film and enjoy a date night. During the movie I placed a mobile order and had my boyfriend go and grab the popcorn and drink for me, during which he was stopped my an employee and asked for his ticket, he then had to call me during the film so I could provide said ticket as “proof” that we were really supposed to be in the theatre. According the the staff there were kids movie hopping this particular night, me and my boyfriend are both adults who had absolutely nothing to do with what those kids had going on.
I had no problem providing the tickets I had, which included a confirmation number, time stamp, and movie name. Unfortunately the ticket containing the seat and row number were tossed in the trash by me (I won’t make that mistake again). I nicely asked the supervisor on duty to please plug in our confirmation number or my email that was linked to the ticket into his computer so he could verify the purchase, this was denied many times. I genuinely believe this guy was on a power trip, after asking multiple times to simply put in the confirmation number or my email he threatened us by calling the police?!
Neither my boyfriend or I spoke to him in a disrespectful tone, raised our voices, or posed any sort of threat, so you can imagine my frustration when this lead to calling the police. This was all simply because we “fit the description” of the KIDS who were movie hopping. We were met with complete hostility simply for standing up for ourselves. I will not be back and I hope no one else experiences anything similar to this.
To the supervisor on duty tonight I hope you learn how to provide better service to your clients and simply do better. You chose not to hear us out as customers and do your job because you couldn’t handle that you were in the wrong, which in turn provided us paying customers an awful experience at...
