Meyerson Symphony Center is in the heart of the Dallas Arts District and home to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
Open and inviting with a lot of windows and natural light, it has a large central area with plenty of places to congregate and is great for entertaining different types of events. The concert hall is beautiful with cherrywood and Italian marble throughout and hosts a variety of shows, concerts and performances. It has several comfortable seating options, great views and amazing acoustics throughout. I attended the "Twist and Shout: The Music of The Beatles" show a few months ago. It was a phenomenal collaboration and a fun and interactive experience which was nostalgic, whimsical and incredibly engaging. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra is extremely talented, dynamic and captivating.
Close to transit and parking and plenty of pre-show dining options including: “Opus” located inside the Meyerson Symphony Center which offers a fine dining buffet, and restaurants nearby like Stella Cucina, Artisan and Musume, along with many others at all types of price points. Preorder your concessions and drinks via their APP to avoid the lines if you can.
Accessible with street level access, elevators and designated seating in the concert hall for wheelchairs. It also offers complimentary wheelchairs for people with limited mobility and assistive listening systems for those who need it.
Loved my experience here. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra is something you cannot miss if you find yourself...
Read moreThere’s a hunchback at the piano
Before him is an old lady that's told her last story. She’s forgotten her past, and she’s fading away.
He’s a hunchback at the piano and he’s a god on the wind. His hands are singing his song. Hallelujah. Amen
He plays for her pain and her name and he pounds down like thunder through the rain.
He's been ridiculed and he's been beaten. He’s been told that he’s nothing and he’s been told that he’s something.
We gasp and we whisper. We curse and we whimper. We groan and we ache, he shows us what it takes, he's a hunchback on the piano and he doesn't make mistakes
He’s a ballerina that gave up and only dances alone. She spins and she twirls and presses and hurls, across all of his keys and only at night. What a sight, what a sight, what a glorious sight.
His hair is long and thin and full of sweat and we see and we sit and we’ve never met.
And we’re quiet in our row as the ones who do not know. But he thunders like a demon, rising from below.
He’s a hunchback pushing a piano. He’s a pallbearer at a funeral burying all that he's carrying. Pounding the wood at the pulpit without speaking a word
We are the onlookers. The ones who have not heard.
He invites us to sit beside him to show us the way. We touch one key, touch another. He dances between our fingers and lightens the day.
He presses so softly then presses again and again And then, he lets go Where does he leave us, the ones...
Read moreThe place was easy to find. We made dinner reservations at their restaurant to make sure we were on time. Turns out you get a discount on parking at every restaurant in the area except the ones inside the Meyerson. The valet employees outside were not helpful. We asked them where to park and they shrugged us off and said I don't know. Eventually we saw a sign for $15 parking across the street and went there. When we got inside same experience with the staff, we asked where the restaurant was. We were simply told take the elevator up. So we get in the elevator and see there are 3 levels up. sigh We try the first level and find another employee who says take the elevator down. WTH. Another employee points to where the restaurant is and we see we should take the stairs. We get to the restaurant eager to taste our $28ea prefixed menu meal of Gourmet food. It was a freaking buffet! Serve myself? In this dress? So long story short $80 + tip for buffet food and freezer burned pastries. Not happy. 6 flights of stairs and a heartattack later we reached our seats. The show was fabulous. The view from the top was amazing. I decided not to take any pictures during the show and just enjoy it. I took one photo at intermission to share here. My advice is to arrive early and eat at a nearby restaurant. Go to your seats 20 minutes early so you can take the 8 person elevator up instead...
