I have attended DCS performances since their first season. They are amazing. I have never missed a concert (truly). The quality of the performance is first-rate, and the musical selections are always wonderful. There is so much creativity in the artistry of this group. I also love the flexibility of the ensemble -- some pieces might require 25+ musicians while others utilize fourteen or so--you really hear each instrument. So beautiful.
I also love the vibe of the hall--so many young professionals! It gives a great energy to the evening. People appreciate the more relaxed atmosphere and that they can take their drinks in to the performance hall. I cannot say enough good things about this group. Go! You will...
Read moreHaving attended at least twenty Dallas Chamber Symphony concerts, I can say without reservation this ensemble always sounds amazing while adding some unique and creative twists. For example, they sometimes take an old classic silent movie, but instead of playing an old-timey piano background, they produce a new, original soundtrack to accompany it, then play it live while the film shows overhead. An entire orchestra playing a soundtrack live to a movie is very cool. Regardless, the venue (Moody Performance Hall) still looks brand new and has wonderful acoustics (and decent legroom, unlike some of its neighbors). The Dallas Chamber Symphony delivered a stunning evening of truly emotional and beautiful music. I believe that symphonies are vastly underrated, and that should not be the case, especially with the fantastic work offered by the DCS. I can't wait to return for another performance!
