I came into town from Houston on a bus and happened to stop at the convenience store next door when I saw a sign for Hawkinspoon. Curiosity—and hunger—led me inside, and I’m so glad it did.

I ordered the Jollof rice and Suya (beef), and it was absolutely amazing. The Jollof was perfectly seasoned—flavorful, rich, and balanced. The Suya? Tender, spicy, and unforgettable. I took my plate back to my hotel to eat… but the food was so good, I walked back up the street just to order two more servings. That’s how fire it was. 🔥

I met Lorenzo, and also got to speak with the woman owner—this is a family-run business with heart. They even have Airbnb units upstairs, making it more than just a restaurant—it’s a whole experience.
