I found Colfax Strong because I needed a community minded gym that would help me get my body back in shape and fit around my work schedule. The facility is a large open space with a range of equipment and weights. It is clean and kept in good condition. The environment is active! Ages range from 20s, many 30s, but also 40s on up. One of the owners, Chad, talked me through the onboarding process. He listened carefully, explained what is offered, that included multiple daily group training classes, a weekly yoga class, a body assessment, and nutritional coaching. If I wish, there is open gym time, personal training, and the barbell club. He helped me set my first quarter goals. I appreciate that it is progress orientated. I took a free class before signing up, to make sure it was a good match and have started with 3 days a week for a while before graduating to the unlimited plan. Coaches are knowledgeable, friendly, and encouraging. I am new to CrossFit and definitely nervous before classes. (Still working on becoming friends with box jumps.) However, each class starts with talking over major movements and warmups incorporate components to help you practice. Coaches move around throughout and when needed/wanted, offer individuals pointers, help teach form, or offer modifications. (You can track your progress after each class with an app.) The yoga class is great to help stretch out sore muscles and joints. I appreciate that the culture is geared toward those who are willing to work hard. People are friendly and welcoming. The feeling of community is evident. Owners take pride in maintaining their space, creating effective programs, and taking care of people. You will be challenged, no matter your level of experience or strength, but each individual is responsible to challenge themselves and keep improving. I am learning, modifying as I need to, but with consistency, I will get stronger, leaner, improved mobility, and gain back confidence. Read moreI just finished a 9 month personal training program with coach Nick and am beyond satisfied with it. When I found Colfax Strong, I had been looking for a personal training program that would assist with my overall workout form as well as adding variety to my workouts. I had not been seeking a crossfit gym and had limited knowledge about the crossfit program. Sean gave me an amazing introduction into what Colfax Strong is all about and I am so happy in my decision in joining the amazing and welcoming community that is the epitome of Colfax Strong. Working three times a week with Coach Nick was an invigorating and exciting experience. Working with him gave me the overall motivation and actual excitement to go to the gym, which was one of the struggles I had before joining Colfax Strong Coach Nick, is so personable and always made me feel comfortable in all the workouts we were doing. I had always been under the impression that Crossfit routines were very intense and not suited for the average lifter. Working with Coach Nick completely changed my impression on the fundamentals of Crossfit. My favorite part of the program was learning the importance of stretching before and after workouts, which left me never feeling abnormally sore and helped my body adjust to the new routines I was learning. The overall pace of the program was very relaxed and easily achievable. Today, I just finished my first group Crossfit class following my introduction to personal training with Coach Nick and feel completely prepared for an easy transition. With the help of Jordan, my personal trainer, and Esther, one of the gym's owners who is also in charge of nutrition, I started my “12 week body transformation”. Jordan's backing and motivation helped me tremendously. With his custom workouts, I began to see great progress. Esther's expertise in nutrition was also a huge part in my progression. She didn't just provide me with a customized meal plan; instead, she taught me how to fuel my body in a sustainable way. And answered any questions I had along the way.
With their guidance and the supportive atmosphere created by Chad and Esther, the gym's owners, I was able to not only achieve my goals but to surpass them. I was able to gain 15 pounds of lean muscle in just 12 weeks which seemed impossible for me at the start, but their support and dedication made it a reality. Chad and Esther are more than just gym owners—they are so invested in the success of each member. Their hands-on involvement and genuine care create a sense of community where everyone feels valued and encouraged.
