Update 2/25/25: The problem noted below has been corrected. I purposely didn't contact the owner on my last 2 visits to The Horn to see if things have been corrected. And they have! We've been seated upstairs, upon request, & servers have been wonderfully pleasant. Food was excellent (as it always has been great). But more importantly our requests to be seated upstairs has been honored, but more importantly happily received & not grumbled at. Jerome, thank you for listening & following through. We are very happy to continue coming to one of our favorite stops while in Depoe Bay. I'm happy to give credit where credit is due! Cheers!
Original post: We come to Depoe 8x a year throughout the year 1 week at a time & try to visit the Horn each time we visit. This last trip we tried to go to the Horn 3 times requesting to sit upstairs. Two times, it was about 2pm, a not busy time of day & were told they couldn't seat us upstairs. I have a very pretty view of the ocean from my condo, I don't wish to view the bay while I pay to eat for a lesser view. The last time we tried to visit on a Wednesday, the information online said it was open, yet it was closed once we drove down to try to give them business once again. Three times we tried to eat upstairs with the view & 3 times it wasn't available at a slow time of day. Nope, that was the last time I try to patronize this establishment. Way to many places to spend my money that I don't feel like I'm fighting to give my money to.
Jerome, I saw your response. I will try again next time we're there as my husband really wanted to try your new IPA. Just another note, I did come home & tell my daughter who had just visited your establishment with her boyfriend a few days before us (she's the one who told us about the new IPA), she told us that she too had requested upstairs & was told it would be quite the wait, which she was disappointed at. She said also they were there at a slower time. So I don't review to bag on your establishment. But as a business owner myself, I do want to know when there is a...
Read moreAfter a disappointing meal earlier in the day at Gracie’s we were looking forward to some food to fill us up and warm our bodies. The Horn Public House and Depoe Bay Brewing Company was definitely the answer to our prays to the food gods.
My husband and I found parking quickly and walked into the restaurant where we were promptly greeted. The waitress asked if we wanted to sit upstairs or down. I said down as I have some mobility issues. Apparently, the seating upstairs has windows out to the ocean. But we were content with the harbor view. Our server, the same person that seated us, was incredibly friendly and made us feel comfortable immediately.
My husband ordered a Tropical Ghost Pale Ale, and I ordered a sprite to drink. We were also ready to place our food orders. My husband ordered the “Little Italy” 10” pizza and I ordered a 10” peperoni and pineapple pizza. There are several restaurants in the area that service seafood of course. But not many that serve other food aside from Seafood. We were happy to find a place that had a great variety of food, which other area restaurants lack.
My husband and I were able to have a nice, relaxing conversation at our table while waiting for our food. You would never have known that there were people upstairs also eating. The restaurant was quiet and calm, not chaotic and loud.
We didn’t have to wait long for our food to come out which was good as we were starving. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our pizzas. We weren’t able to finish our pizza as we were so full, so we brought what was left back to our hotel.
The following day we headed home. When we arrived, we promptly turned on our oven and re-heated our left-over pizza. We were able to resurrect our pizza and have it taste just as good as the day before.
We enjoyed the restaurant, beer and food so much, we each bought a t-shirt.
We’re adding this restaurant to one of our go-to’s for future visits to Depoe Bay!
To the Chef, thank you for the amazing pizza!
To the waitress, thank you for your hospitality and...
Read moreDec 23rd, 5:40pm. This place looked amazing and I wanted to give it a try because of the reviews. I walked in and the one employee was helping people directly in front of me, so I waited in line. Besides this couple, the entire restaurant was empty. The other gentleman was behind the bar doing something. The couple finished ordering, paid, and went to sit in their seat, and I stepped up to the counter in front of the register to have my order taken. I chatted with them for a brief moment, but they didn’t ask any questions, never tried to take my order and kept doing random tasks around the bar while I stood there waiting to order pizza or be seated (as the sign said please wait to be seated). After a few minutes, I ended up walking over to grab a cider out of the cooler and put it down at the register to show them I was waiting to order… They looked at me but never walked over, nor tried to help. A group of people walked in behind me, and immediately the gentleman behind the bar, walked over and asked how many their party was, and instructed them to find a seat, then walked back behind the bar right past me again. I waited at the register, another minute or so, and neither employee came over to help me. I decided to put my cider back, leave, and go to the other pizza place in town. I’m not really sure what I did, but I was pretty unimpressed and embarrassed with how they just kept working with me just standing there. If I was supposed to take a seat and be served, then I wish someone would’ve told me that, but I felt like a complete idiot. **Update, I walked back in, a third employee looked at me, the other two continued doing something at the bar, and I waited. Nothing, so...
