Mo's wasn't offering dine in so we thought we'd try here for chowder. We should have listened to the poor reviews, they were right. First, the lady working was rude. Masks are required at ALL times or she won't come to your table or help you and was quite rude about it. Saying "this job isn't worth getting sick." Yet didn't see her wash her hands once while we were there and she started out laying in a booth on her phone. Things ordered- Chili, definitely Nallys Chili from a can. Bread bowl of Clam chowder- bland, doesn't taste homemade. "Cod" fish and chips- nope. My boyfriend couldn't stomach it and between the sandy clam and terrible fish and chips his stomach was sick as soon as we left. It didn't taste like cod. The side salad was spring mix and a few croutons and NOTHING else. Calamari appetizer was good, frozen calamari but good. I had water to drink and it was undrinkable. Partially seemed salty, partially just dirty. Then there's "The Neptune." All of the seafood seemed frozen and the fish had no flavor. The scallops were rubbery, the crab legs were sharp so you couldn't crack them by hand and nothing was provided to crack them. Then there was a clam FULL of sand which ruined even trying to eat it at all. Definitely won't be back. Id pick taco bell or McDonald's over eating here again.

I was speeches when eating my dinner; that is saying a lot because I am a loud mouth and don't know when to shut up. The cafe to start was very clean and organized. It had a very nice atmosphere to sit and eat. I recommend sitting next to the window because you have an awesome view of the ocean across the street. The cafe also had a lot of interesting artifacts to look at. Now, why I was speechless with the food. I had the crab melt with fries, and a cup of clam chowder. The melt was amazing! The toast was soft, but still had a crunch; nice and buttered. The crab was so tasty, fresh, and it was savory with the melted cheese; so warm. The fries were cooked well and were crispy. And the clam chowder was terrific because it was warm, and was full of delicious clams and potatoes! My wife let me eat some of her clam chowder bread bowl...WOW! The bread was toasted, but still so soft and sweet; the butter added just hyped it up. Then they smoother it with clam chowder which makes the bread even more soft. I was in heaven with the clam chowder! Our waitress was really friendly and polite. Made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Yes! Two thumbs way up, and I really recommend this place! Everything turned out great for my wife and I anniversary dinner!

Would give 5 stars before new ownership. But will give 4 stars because we specifically go out of our way to come here when we visit Lincoln city and the Oregon coast. Why do we come here? The turkey club car sandwhich. It is to die for. The best tasting sandwhich ever, and we've eaten a lot of turkey clubs before. They used to have our favorite fries quite honestly in the whole world and I'm a fry connoisseur, until the new ownership. Those cheap little potato disks chip things are not it. Bring back the old fries. Also coming out on top of my sandwhich was actually visually disgusting, hot potato chips on a cold sandwhich, warm lunch meat, yuck. Really great BBQ and honey mustard. I hope this place stays in business, we love it.

Service was sub par at best, the cleanliness and overall organization of the restaurant was really terrible, not to mention the food being overpriced for the quality. The restaurant was filthy, there was food literally all over the floor as though no one had even attempted to clean all day. The tables and chairs were sticky and dirty along with then menus. We had to give back two of the menus to get different ones because they had ketchup all over them. We ordered some hot dogs and fries for our kids and the server had completely forgotten them, then proceeded to put them in long after we ordered them, so much so that the rest of our other food had been eaten already by the time the hotdogs came out. When the server stated they had forgot the items and she was "so sorry" I stated to her that now, since they were so late, we didn't even need the fries because we had already given our kids different stuff since the adults all already were eating. That aside, rather then just taking them completely off the bill, the items were still on the bill, even though we said we didn't want them. Again instead of taking them off the bill, once pointed out, the employees of the restaurant gave us a $1.60 discount (.80 per meal price). I was pretty frustrated with that, felt that the service was not great to begin with. To top that off, when reviewing the bill after that, there was a forced gratuity of almost $20 dollars, plus a debit fee of almost $5. Our party wasn't tiny, 4 adults and 3 kids, 7 and younger, but still absolutely ridiculous. Overall, I would not return to this restaurant, nor would I recommend anyone to go here for anything more than a bowl of the chowder which was the highlight but not...

Came to the coast for a friend's birthday and wanted to get some chowder. Got there and sat down and right away realized they were very under staffed. That wasn't the problem though. After sitting at our table for about 20 minutes a group of 5 people came in and sat down. The waiter still had never came to our table to even ask if we wanted water but went over and took the order from the group of 5. Sat there for another 10 minutes and finally went up to the counter and ordered some soup. Our friend stood at the counter for another 5 minutes until the guy behind the counter rudely told him he would take his order at the table. Finally the waiter came over and when I pointed out that we had been waiting before the group of 5 and it was pretty unprofessional he told us we could go somewhere else. After waiting that long I told him we just wanted some chowder so he took our order of soup but still offered no drinks or anything. Sat there for another 15 minutes watching new customers come in and get there drink and orders taken and still didn't get our soup. We finally just left. I have never had such horrible service in my life. I get that they are under staffed and was understanding to a point but the two guys working were both incredibly rude and unprofessional. I always make a point to go there when I visit the coast but I will not be back. Mo's chowder is just as good and they have more options so if you want decent service I would...

I was planning on stopping at the Chowder Bowl in Newport that came highly recommended by many. Had to get back to Lincoln City so I kept driving through Depoe Bay when I saw The Chowder Bowl! Thinking it was a second location, I decided to pull over real quick for a cup of chowder, to at least get something in my stomach for the time being.

It was about 3 pm as I came in. The ambiance was fun and the guy who greeted me as I walked in was very friendly. I asked him if they were the same as Newport’s Chowder Bowl. I thought I almost saw a chuckle as he looked, disappointed, maybe, “No, we are not.”

Immediately, I had second thoughts but I figured I was already there and hungry. He brought me a cup of chowder before I had even gotten settled. There were 2 other patrons, one definitely a local as she chatted with the server / bartender. Another person came in and picked up an order to-go.

The chowder tasted like Progresso soup. No bacon - maybe 1 potato chunk cut into very small pieces, thin and watery base, very salty but surprisingly with little favor. I only got to a few slivers of clams at the very bottom of the cup, which granted wasn’t very large being a small diner-like coffee cup. The clams were, thankfully, not rubbery or over-cooked. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Next time I will make sure I have the time to stop in Newport. Thank God it...
