I have previously visited this establishment on one occasion. The atmosphere was enjoyable and the experience was good, but I was served the incorrect drink along with a few others. Despite this, we chose not to raise the issue as securing a table can be challenging.

Recently, I was part of a group of 6 who dined at this location for a work event after dining at Prime + Proper. We had made a reservation in advance and were informed that we would be seated next as a table of 6 was finishing their meal. Unfortunately, the phone used for the reservation died, so we called from a different number to inform the staff of the change.

During the call, a member of our party made an off-handed remark about the cold weather outside, which included the use of a mild expletive. This was not directed at the bar and was simply a general observation about the temperature. When we asked about the status of the table, we were told that our party would be seated soon.

However, after waiting in the cold for an additional 20 minutes, a group of 4 arrived and were seated immediately. Upon mentioning our prior reservation and wait time to the host, we were told that our party would not be seated due to the use of an expletive on the phone. This seemed unfair and contradictory as we were previously told we would be seated soon.

As a group who frequently dines at upscale restaurants and enjoys fine drinks during work events, we were disappointed with the way the situation was handled. The host's demeanor appeared to be unprofessional and overly authoritative, which left a negative impression on us

One may expect to encounter more capable hosts at a...

Bad manners more like. I was one of the first followers of this establishment on its social media, excited by the looks of their craft cocktails. I've even recommended to people in my industry sending them business before I even had a chance to try it out myself. Last night, however, while on a walk with a friend we popped in for the first time to check it out. We were greeted by the hostess and I asked if we could have a peek inside because we had heard so much about it. She drew the curtains back and hesitantly let us in for a glance. As we stood there for all of 3 seconds she asked if we were going to sit down. I reached for a menu and said I wanted to have a look. She asked us to exit the bar and step back into the foyer to do so because she couldn't have us "standing around in the bar". There was all of 5 people sitting at the bar whom I seriously doubt our brief glance inside (less than 30 seconds) before we were asked to step out, disturbed.

If this is the kind of prentious snobbery we will have to face with new Detroit establishments please spare me. In my industry I entertain a lot of clients and colleagues and it brings quite a bit of business to the bars and restaurants, if not from me and my guests then from word of mouth. I wouldnt dare send anyone to this place again. I don't accept this kind of stuffy unprofessional behavior in London, NY, and it's definitely not going to...

First time here. All of the locals rave about this place and so I thought I’d give it a try. It didn’t disappoint. I loved the style of the bar! It’s a bit small, of course that’s part of the bar’s charm. I didn’t even know it existed so close to my old apartment. It’s in the ally in the middle. We lucked out and got a spot even though they were booked out for weeks. They keep one small table available for walk-ins behind the black curtain. We were greeted by a host who was very charismatic, polite and well dressed. I thought the leather apron was a super cool touch.

I love the style of this restaurant. It has lots hues of navy blue and gold which seems to be the new grey and silver. The style reminded me of a few high end exclusive membership clubs. It is definitely posh but not at the expense of it’s coziness. When we sat down they brought us some hot alcoholic beverages and asked if it was our first time and I said it was. I really appreciated that because it was really chilly out. My spontaneous night out (after having a bit of a stressful day) ended up exceeding my expectations. Our waiter (I think it was Eric) was wonderful. You could tell Eric was very experienced, sophisticated, well dressed and socially aware. Eric was an excellent sever, one of the best I have had and definitely the best in Detroit. I will definitely be...

The experience starts simply with finding this place...hidden in an alley. You'll walk in and still be confused, as this speakeasy style bar is hidden behind the curtains. But once behind the curtains, you'll know you've found the right place! Dim lighting, wood and leather will envelope you while you scan the 2-storey wall of premium booze. Reading the menu felt like going between a science textbook and the neverending story...and it almost felt like it was giving me a tarot card reading. It's wondrous to see 'breakfast cereal milk' in a drink description. The servers were incredibly knowledgable and helped guide us to drinks that we all thoroughly enjoyed, and loved (proudly) describing to eachother as though we conjured them up ourselves. Expensive, sure...but worth it for the ambience, flavors and overall experience... and the drinks are f'n amazing (and stifff). This place IS DIFFERENT. it's into the details of everything. A must try...
