Welcome to Fort Pontchartrain Hotel 🏨 | Downtown Detroit,MI. Overlooking Ontario Canada 🇨🇦. . . I want to start off by highlighting the amazing staff members at this property. They were beyond helpful, polite, and understanding. They made my stay easy and very comfortable. I felt very safe in this hotel. Next, let’s talk about the beaty surrounding the property. This hotel is located in the downtown area of Detroit. The skyscrapers 🏙️ make for a beautiful sunrise 🌅 sunset 🌇 cityscape view. Also, it’s walking distance from Lake St. Clair which is beyond breathtaking. Lake St. Clair overlooks Ontario, Canada 🍁 which is on the other side of the lake. The hotels location is perfect! You are walking distance from many restaurants, shopping, and entertainment facilities. I just rly rly enjoyed this hotel, its staff, the location, and the breathtaking views from my window 🪟. I highly recommend this place! . . #itinerarytee #itinerary #itineraries #travel #traveling #traveler #travelgram #instatraveling #instatravel #instatravelling #ontario #canada #america #50states #visitamerica #downtown #bigcity #city #cityscape #views #sunset #lakestclair #detroit #sunrise #hotel #fortpontchartrainhotel #downtowndetroit #staycation #beauty #vacation #traveltok @Fort Pontchartrain DT Detroit

My fiance and I took five days off from work and decided to go explore the north east. We started on Cape cod and drove all the way to Detroit Michigan. We found this hotel on Google and decided to try it out. I made a mistake with the dates on Google. So we drove to the hotel and tried to sort it out. Once we arrived we were greeted by many staff who were ready to assist us and help us continue on with our vacation. There were so many staff that greeted us with smiles and a great attitude. Some of these staff names are Key Jones, Mushi, Yaz, Craig, and Theresa. I am so grateful that they assisted us in navigating our concerns and providing us with the information and support we needed during our trip. They had great advice about places to eat, navigating the area, and meeting out needs. Thank you for this great experience. My fiance and I would definitely come back if we ever find ourselves back in Detroit. The room was a beautiful front river view where we could see the Canadian skyline. They offered us room service at our convenience. The pool was a little cold but we enjoyed the hot tub and sauna to warm us up. We found many shopping opportunities as well. I will say that you get what you give. Be kind to these staff because they will be kind in return. Just like with any place you travel. This was definitely a great Valentine's road trip. Thank you for going above and beyond. You are all greatly appreciated for all the hard work you do day in and day out to give your guests the best experience possible.

TLDR: Under-delivered, Overcharged. What was supposed to be a little weekend getaway with my partner, turned into a disaster. On April 15th, I reserved the king bed deluxe room with a riverfront view for June 6-8th. $635.41 total for stat. So imagine my surprise when we walked into our “deluxe” room to find that we had been placed in an ADA compliant room facing a building (massive room with barely any furniture or surfaces, accessibility bars everywhere. My partner is a medical professional and said it felt like she was back at work.. not the kind of weekend I had hoped for). I was honestly willing to let it slide but it was super uncomfortable not being able to shut the bathroom door or set my things down while I got ready. Our friends were also guests at the same time so I got to see their room. It was so cute, cozy and it faced the river… The room I paid for but didn’t get. But I let it slide. The room was mostly clean at least, aside from a mysterious yellowish stain on the mattress protector. We wouldn’t have ever noticed it though if it wasn’t for the ill fitting sheets on the bed. Everytime we moved through the night the corners would fly up and tangle the blanket. We were bummed. We were really looking forward to a little rejuvenation. But alas, there are worst things I suppose. We moved about our weekend until we checked out on Sunday. I accepted the offer to check out online around 10:00 am. We waited what seemed like forever to even get down to the lobby. I believe they need to invest in a service elevator for workers instead of hogging two of the 4 elevators. I almost had to carry 50 lbs and 30 lbs of luggage down 8 flights of stairs because we had waited over 35 minutes for an available elevator. We made it through that, just to wait another 35 minutes for our car. $45 for valet service that requires you to basically walk across the street is strange. But we almost didn’t care because we were so relieved to finally get out of there. I was looking forward to putting the mediocre experience behind me until I noticed that they overcharged me almost $300. There’s a charge for $640.92 as well as one for $267.85. This was Sunday. Since then, I’ve made multiple grueling phone calls, left numerous voicemails, and sent 3 emails hoping to get things sorted. I’ve spent so much time and energy on this, but to no avail. I feel so taken advantage of. For now, I’m out over $900 for the worst hotel experience of my life. I will never forget this. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your hotel needs.

I have travelled across the world and this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed at and that includes a Days Inn. The first room i was put in was filthy and had essentially prison style showers. The top of the door was missing about an inch of door and the door frame looked like some kicked it in at some point. The hotel is dated and extremely dirty. They have an ice machine outside room 1900 that is so loud it woke me up at 5am when someone went to use it. I put a sign up saying it was out of service so people would stop using it. I removed it in the morning. Hotel staff were screaming outside my room at 9am in the morning. Servers at the bar gave us drinks before telling us we had to leave in 2 minutes because they were closing down the restaurant. We had to ask if we could sit out in the lobby which we did. Front desk was nice and moved me to a different room. Stay anywhere else…

I can't imagine that a hotel that I paid for 200$+ per night can have this kind of bad service. At the beginning, when I entered my room, the perfume smell was very strong and when I used bathroom, I found a bloody tampon next to my towels!!!! BLOODY TAMPON next to towels!!!!!!This is something ridiculous. So I went to the reception. She changed another room for me, and we were waiting half hour for the security guy to reopen the first room for us to move our luggage. No any apologize or compensation. When we checked out, the young worker did not know how to write an invoice, and when she finally knows how, she spelled a lot of words wrong on my invoice, and I waited for half hours for this. The only good thing is the more experienced lady who wrote us this invoice and she is very nice.
