True Believers Gaming & Collectibles — Attraction in Edison

Now, I've been to this store several times over the past year. And my rating for this store is as fair as I can possibly make it. But even as much as I love going to this shop, I do have fair and constructive criticism for it. So here goes.

Pros: Amazing place to go to for any sort of collectible item you might be looking for. Amazing selection of Pops and other items that they get shipments of weekly. Friendly staff and willing to help out. What I like is that they share online what they got in stock to keep loyal customers informed. That really helps.

Cons: Prices at this store are ridiculous. New items are priced way higher than most normal chain retailers would sell them at. For example, a new funko pop which is normally $10, this store will sell for either 5 or 10 dollars more. Another more recent example comes in the form of their trading card section where the new Yugioh megatins were released. Normally the megatins sell for $20 each, this store will sell them for double that price per tin. Thats just a recent example. But I wont be surprised if other items are priced this unfairly. Its basically taking advantage of their new and loyal consumer base, which really isn't right.

Like I said, I do love coming to this shop, as there is no other shop like it in the area. And the shop has done well to maintain good business ethic with new and loyal customers. However, the store isn't perfect, and I do want to give my honest, constructive and fair review of this place. I feel that this store would be better if new items would be priced at normal MSRP rather than a strange inflation that looks like their trying to milk more money out of their loyal consumer base. I understand older items being sold for a higher price, like an out of date Funko pop that goes for idk, say $50. But newer items shouldn't be priced that way. Its an unfair tactic against an uneducated buyer.

Things have gotten better at this location. Prices on certain items are now regularly meeting expected prices and the clerks are more than happy to make sure their customers are getting the best possible deal they can get when they walk into the...

This was my second time visiting, the first time was a decent experience but today? Had myself an employee with a snarky remark, basically accusing me of damaging a funko box. First of all, why would I damage a box on purpose and exchange it within a small time frame. Second of all, if you check the security footage. I was in the store showing the damaged box to my friend. Clearly taking it out of the bag and showing him the dent. We went to eat in the food court after the purchase but the dent was something that constantly popped up in my head, so I went back for an exchange. Maybe next time, don’t tell yourself “that’s weird, I don’t remember giving it to you like this.” That just goes to show you, you also don’t pay attention to detail. Especially the back of a box where we both didn’t focus on. The front of the box clearly was displayed to be fine, which is why I didn’t second guess my purchase at first. Definitely not returning after this. (Edited to respond to owner) - I visited your store on the 26th of January. I believe it was between 3-4 PM, right after the purchase I took the box out to show my friend what I bought. He pointed out the dent in the box. Even outside of the store I was contemplating going back and exchanging it. (You can also check the outside camera) Having an employee that had such a condescending attitude is definitely not the right look for the store. How would I dent a box within a small time frame? I want to know what sort of scenario played in his head. Also, I find it very odd that 5 star reviews starting to kick in within the same timeframe I posted mine. (The store had zero reviews...

Heard about this place from friends and the consensus was that this place was a rip off. I wanted to go check and see if I could bring my wife here eventually since we go to other game stores and enjoy our time there. I was on the hunt for Lorcana boxes, the D100 collector's box, so I could get Christmas presents for my family. The kids LOVE Disney. I was wanting to support my local stores but most of them didn't have the boxes I needed desperately. So I came here and asked the person up front if they had any Lorcana boxes. They did! I was so relieved and I was hoping they have a good deal on them. To my relief it was $49.99! What a deal! Also to my surprise, the person helping me actually ripped off the tag right in front of me and plainly told me it was $120 for one box. I was heart broken. Why place a product on the shelves with a lower price tag on the shop floor and suddenly change it right in front of a customer? Shouldn't you have double checked before putting it upon the floor? I was furious! I had left to let out some steam as it was absurd to hike it up on the spot. I came back and asked for an explanation. The person didn't want to sell it to scalpers and wanted to sell the boxes to "True collectors." This is a children's card game..? You actively put it at a scalper's price? When the MSRP is at $50?
