I liked and loved a lot about the Kimpton Goodland Fort Lauderdale and I'd recommend it, but there were things I was disappointed with. So, I give it a solid three-stars for "good."
The Pros 1.) The people that work here are fabulous, especially Corey at the front desk and Jonathan in the restaurant. I was always greeted with a smile and asked how my stay was going. I really appreciated this. 2.) The onsite restaurant, Botanico, had some great food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I started my days with their delicious avocado toast and it was the best I've ever had! For lunch and dinner, I tried their tasty steak specials and cheeseburger. Also, I had no idea Brussel sprouts could taste so good! The Key Lime Crème Brulée dessert was my favorite. 3.) It's nestled on a quiet street that's one block away from the beach and many good restaurants, and even the Bonnet House for sightseeing. Great walking location. 4.) They had a canvas beach bag with a big beach towel in the room, which I thought was great. 5.) It was so clean here it sparkled! This was both in my room and also throughout the hotel. 6.) They have Yoga at 8am on the outside deck. 7.) The rooms have charm. They have retro turquoise min-fridges. The bathrooms had cool black and white tile and the shower was really big and had a waterfall showerhead and Aveda Rosemary Mint toiletries. The towels were white, big, soft and fluffy. I loved the round jute rug, too. The TV was nice and big. 8.) The hotel and restaurant interiors are cool and comfy. They also have two pools. One is downstairs and right outside the restaurant and is surrounded by comfy beach chairs and furniture. The other is on the rooftop and there was a bar there, too.
The Cons 1.) The hotel description said they had room service, but when I arrived they told me they didn't and that was disappointing. 2.) The wine and cocktail selections were lackluster. My whisky cocktail had a bizarre taste I couldn't place. 3.) Some of the food disappointed, like the Caesar salad was not very tasty and the portion was tiny and the lettuce was wilted a little. I order my meat medium rare, but three times it was served too well. The bagel with cream cheese and lox was not very good. 4.) They don't serve coffee until 7am, which is late for early birds, and they don't have coffee machines in the room. When I asked for one they looked like I was asking for an ice cream maker. I've never stayed in a hotel that didn't have a coffee machine either in the room or available on request. They brought me a complicated-looking espresso machine, but it was a nuisance to use and I wanted morning coffee not espresso. 5.) There were men working right outside the window of my ground-floor room every day beginning around 8am. 6.) The beach is super crowded because there's a huge Hilton across from it. 7.) The restaurant ladies restroom didn't have toilet paper in the stalls. Luckily they had boxes of tissues on the sink counter. 8.) They don't have spa services. It would have been nice to have had a massage. 9.) The room is billed as "luxe, " but it was more cottage-y, not really luxury, though things were upscale, but not quite luxe. For example, even with ten pillows, I could barely prop my head up in bed and the memory foam mattress was more squishy than comforting, not a luxury mattress. 10.) The rooftop bar was only open till 6:30pm. Why? I would've liked to have watched the sunset and the pink Florida dusk sky until about 9pm while sipping wine. 11.) On my final morning, they billed my credit card for $275 that exceed my $300 security hold before I checked out or OK'd my final bill and I didn't like that they used my credit card without asking me because it's never happened at a hotel before, but when I complained, they seemed to think it was...

Upon entering the rooms, we were horrified to find that one of the beds was completely broken and unfit for use, the air conditioning was malfunctioning, and there were no towels. The second room also lacked towels, and there were issues with the air conditioning there as well.
We immediately approached the front desk to report the numerous problems. The maintenance staff came to assess the situation and confirmed that these were significant issues, even documenting the situation and acknowledging that repairs might not be possible.
The front desk staff informed us that the hotel was fully booked, leaving no option but to remain in the problematic rooms. After pressing for a solution, the front desk staff spoke with the manager, Ms. Harris, who claimed that there were no other rooms available and suggested we might have to sleep together in one bed.
When I insisted on a refund for the rooms, particularly considering that we were forced to share beds with colleagues of both genders, Ms. Harris offered no resolution and even proposed relocating us to a much cheaper, lower-rated hotel at such a late hour, which was unacceptable.
Furthermore, the conversation with Ms. Harris escalated when she asked a completely inappropriate question: "What is the nature of your relationship? Perhaps you could share a bed?" This question was not only deeply unprofessional but also disrespectful. The following morning, we faced further difficulties, including being given only four breakfast vouchers for six people. When we addressed this with the front desk, they claimed it was a mistake on their end and suggested we speak with Booking.com. After spending significant time and effort resolving this with Booking.com, we were eventually given the remaining two vouchers, but only just before our departure, leading to two of our group not being able to eat.
The culmination of these issues, including poor communication, subpar service, and inadequate responses from both the hotel management and staff, has caused significant distress and disruption to our trip.I personally took a photo of the note left for her at the hotel, which clearly shows the time and date, and yet, despite her promises, Harris failed to contact me in any manner. Her appalling lack of follow-through and professionalism is unacceptable.
I further reached out to Booking.com, who attempted to contact the hotel on my behalf to seek answers and request compensation for the distress and the second room. However, the hotel completely failed to respond, and I have a confirmation email from Booking.com to this effect.
On March 11, 2025, I once again contacted the hotel and spoke with the reception representative, Denil, who acknowledged that an email had been sent, but due to what seemed like an error, it was directed to the wrong address. I asked him to confirm the correct email address and stated that I had not received any communication. Denil promised to send a test email, which he did, and assured me that I would receive a follow-up.
However, no one ever reached out to me, and when I called the hotel again on March 17, 2025, I spoke to Harris. She now claimed that no email had been sent and that she owed me nothing. She was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional, speaking to me in a harsh tone and refusing to provide any explanation for her previous promises. I asked her why she had not followed through with her assurances and why the second room issue had not been addressed. She terminated the call abruptly, hanging up on me without any further explanation or resolution. Harris is a manager !!!! So if you want to exprience the worst exprience of your life you...
Read moreA beautiful boutique hotel tucked away in a quiet and beachy Fort Lauderdale neighborhood. Close walk to the beach, very chill vibes and nice staff (mostly). I definitely will be staying here again in the future. The court yards are so beautiful and there’s a little place to play mini golf on the property. On the other side of the hotel is a beautiful sitting area, with soothing music, you can feel the breeze off the ocean and the WiFi is really great! I was able to get a lot of work done with no problems. The pool is lovely and the music was nice, lots of shade around the pool as well. The food at the restaurant is really delicious and the service is good. Pizza is on point! Sergio and the outside bar manager were so great, Sergio is so polite and kind. Sally at the bar inside is so nice and really funny, she pays attention to you and is on it with keeping your drink fresh, we found out we both used to work in the medical system of Broward, so that was fun to talk about. I only wish I had known of the happy hour upon check in. I definitely recommend this cute hotel.
I give 4 stars because of the check in process and the front staff. Upon arriving after flying in from California, I had been traveling since early morning, and was stuck in the plane for an hour upon landing, I was really looking forward to visiting the rooftop, some fresh air and a lovely cocktail. I wasn’t made aware it was closed, I also wasn’t told about the happy hour in the restaurant or that when you go to the beach “the chairs” are the blue ones that are actually on the beach. It’s $30 extra for an umbrella. The next morning When I asked about the very cute golf carts the woman at the front desk who I believe is in charge of the front was really rude to me, not even looking at me when she answered my question. She told me (without looking at me) that they are used for yoga in the morning and to transport hotel staff to other properties. I had to ask her if she was talking to me it was that awkward. I thought perhaps it was me and tried to brush it off, I’m happy on vacation spending time at the beach with family, I didn’t understand her rudeness towards me, but a day later when my kids discovered they had left their toothbrush at home, my son and I went to ask for one for both he and his sister, she gave us one and then walked away, I didn’t know if we were supposed to follow her or wait, it just made me feel uncomfortable to ask the front desk for anything due to her odd and abrasive attitude when she was present. I also feel like you should keep a few things for sale like Tylenol or Motrin, I took a fall on one of the steps soon after my arrival and when I asked the front desk I was told cvs is a ten minute walk, yet I had severely bruised my knee. Again, most hotels offer basic things like this. I would think a first aid kit would be on hand. That’s just good practice from a retired ER nurse.
It just felt odd, the front staff isn’t consistent with how they treat guests, what they tell them, what is offered at the hotel, and I feel if your front desk manager isn’t modeling hospitable and informed behavior towards guests, then why should the rest follow suit? Felt slightly toxic in my honest opinion. I have questions, I’m a guest and I’m paying to stay here, the vibe of the hotel is so light and airy, it just didn’t make sense to me.
All that being said, now that I know these things, I did really enjoy my stay, in-spite of the odd interaction with the one person at the front desk, and hope to be back in the winter. Beds are super comfy too and the rooms are so cute. The fridge is an added bonus! Cleaning staff is so...
