This review is a little delayed, but I’m very happy to now share my experience at La Fuga. I visited Fort Lauderdale for the first time, traveling from Seattle in early to mid September for a work symposium, and stayed an additional 5 nights for vacation with my boyfriend. On September 10th we were happy to find la Fuga online, walkable from our hotel. When we walked in we were greeted by their bartender Steven, who was so kind and friendly, happy we were there. Steven ended up being our server as well. Our dishes were so delicious, and we were having such a great time, we decided we should come back for my boyfriend’s birthday 2 days later. We knew it would be perfect and it was. Steven treated us like friends, and he went out of his way to be our server again. He knew it was my boyfriend Steve’s birthday, and he went above and beyond to make it special. We had their specialty scallops dish that was cooked to perfection, kind of crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside served on a bed of mashed celery 😋… the best scallops we both had ever had! After dinner, Steven brought out champagne, and a chocolate tart topped with raspberries, swirled with “Happy Birthday” chocolate sauce with a candle. See pics. La Fuga is a must if you’re ever visiting Fort Lauderdale or especially if you live there! Best food, best service from the entire team! I wish there was a la Fuga in Seattle!

Best Bartender on the Beach – Steven Is a Must-Meet! 🌟🍸🐾 If you find yourself on Fort Lauderdale Beach and don’t stop in to see Steven, you’re missing out on a core memory in the making. Steven is more than just a bartender. He is an experience. Originally from Dallas and only here for a year, he’s already become a legend. His drinks are absolute perfection. Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur or just want something refreshing and new, Steven somehow knows exactly what you need before you do. Each drink feels like it was crafted just for you, and trust me, it was. What makes Steven truly unforgettable is the conversation. He doesn’t just pour drinks. He pours into people. He listens. He remembers. He makes you feel seen. His depth of knowledge and caring heart create a personalized vibe that turns strangers into regulars quickly. And please, do yourself a favor. Ask him about his Chihuahuas. Actually, maybe don’t. Unless you’re ready to hear the sweetest and funniest stories that will have you smiling for the rest of your trip. It’s impossible not to fall in love with the guy. Steven is hands down one of the best parts of Fort Lauderdale Beach. Go for the drinks. Stay for the heart. Leave with a new favorite bartender and maybe a few Chihuahua facts you didn’t know you needed.

The evening started out promising and went down hill rapidly. There were two parties of 6-8 people and one 4 top. The dining room was fully staffed. The food came after 2 hours of waiting and was subpar and cold. My Tortellini was undercooked, doughy, too thick, and frankly tasteless. The Bordo was basically tepid tap water. The other pasta dishes suffered a similar fake from a kitchen that clearly didn’t care about the quality of their food nor the guests in their restaurant. When the quality was brought up to management and members of the staff, we were met with blank stares and zero feed back. Completely unprofessional behavior. Each person spent over $90 on a meal that was subpar to a can of chef Boyardee. I should have known we were in trouble when the wait staff constantly reached over/across me and told me to move out of the way. I, the guest, was in their way. I guess the same could be said about the kitchen staff. We were a bother to them for ordering food. A poser of an Italian restaurant hiding behind fake smiles, condescension, and false advertising in the hopes that someone dumb enough will praise this charade of an Italian restaurant. Remember, this was all for over $90 a person.

We were very disappointed with our experience at LA Fuga.

After reading so many positive reviews and seeing the high ratings, we were genuinely looking forward to a quality meal. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t meet our expectations.

My husband ordered the branzino, which was just okay — not terrible, but not impressive either. It came in small pieces, lacking the presentation and portion size we’re accustomed to.

I ordered the pappardelle pomodoro with veal meatballs. The menu advertised homemade pasta, and I specifically requested light sauce. What I received, however, was a dish drowning in sauce. When I sent it back to be corrected, the second version came out with about eight plain noodles and the sauce on the side — not at all what I had asked for. The pasta also clearly wasn’t homemade; it resembled basic egg noodles rather than true pappardelle. Overall, the dish was very disappointing, and I felt like my concerns weren’t taken seriously.

Adding to the poor experience was the setting. We had asked to sit outside, but were seated near a run-down patio with a neglected pool — it felt more like the backyard of a budget motel than a resort restaurant.

Service was also lacking. Although I made several requests to our waiter (light sauce, ice, more water), none of them were fulfilled. We ended up relying on another server, who was the only one that actually helped us.

For the price we paid, we would have been much better off taking an Uber to Las Olas and dining at ...

From start to finish, our evening at La Fuga in Fort Lauderdale Beach was nothing short of exceptional. The service was outstanding—warm, attentive, and truly elevated the entire experience. You can tell the staff takes pride in making every guest feel welcomed and valued.

We began with cocktails that were perfectly crafted and set the tone for what would be a phenomenal meal. For dinner, I had the Risotto Cacio E Pepe All’Osso Buco, and it was absolutely incredible—rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. My wife ordered the Cottoletta Alla Milanese, which was perfectly crisp and beautifully presented. My mother-in-law raved about the sea bass, which was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection, while my father-in-law had the Dentice Alla Genovese, which was another showstopper. Every bite was a testament to the kitchen’s skill and attention to detail.

We capped off the meal with the flourless chocolate cake and the tiramisu, both of which were decadent and delicious. And the homemade limoncello? Wow—bright, smooth, and the perfect digestif.

As if that weren’t enough, we headed up to the rooftop bar afterward, where we enjoyed another round of cocktails while taking in a stunning sunset view over the canal. It was the perfect end to a perfect night.

La Fuga is a gem on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Whether you’re a local or visiting, this place is a must. We can’t wait...
