I have never been treated so disgracefully by an establishment in my life. I give my business to my people because I believe in supporting black arts and other ventures that uplift our community, but when I walked into the theater at 8:01 before the curtain rose due to an accident on the road, they would not allow me or my companion into the theater and forced us to watch the entire first half from a screen in the lobby, not to mention the staff talked quite loudly so there was no way to make out the play. Is this the way you treat those who contribute to your bottom line? It was absolutely disgraceful. I am not one to be late to engagements, least of all a night at the theater, but things happen and their accommodation of that fact was nil. Since I was forced to miss half of the show, do I get half of my money back? Shameful. And don't give me that, ''respect for the actors" line. When you're an actor worth your salt, a person walking to their seat, which often happens in a theater, is not going to affect grueling hours of rehearsals and the thrill of the night. So, needless to say, I will NEVER pay another dime to the Jubilee. Jubilance is the last thing I'm...
Read moreWe bought tickets on the phone for a oroduction. They were emailed to me that day. On the day of the performance, I decided to print them in case the internet was not available there. Upon printing them, I realized they were for the wrong date & time. In fact they were for a date that had already passed even before they were ordered. I called the box office & heard an automatic answer that no one worked there on Saturday. We were not going to go all the way downtown not knowing if we would even be able to use our tickets. Several days later I was able to email the marketing director & requested a refund. She said she would call me the following week. I left her my phone number. This was 3 weeks ago. She never contacted me, even after I sent another email.I am very disappointed in the lack of courtesy shown when the fault was with the theatre personnel . This would have been my first time to visit Jubilee. It...
Read moreFirst, the theatre had a very historic, warm, & inviting ambience immediately upon entering the doors. In addition, the staff was attentive, organized, & hospitable.
My husband and I attended the matinee show for Plenty of Time and enjoyed every minute! The wit, the humor, the historical clips, the emotion, & the exploration of cyclical family hurdles, and how to approach them, definitely made the play worth watching! Also, the MUSIC and dialogue were more than fitting for each decade. PLEASE SEND ME THE SOUNDTRACK!!! Lol!
To the director, producer, actors, & supporting theatre personnel; OUTSTANDING JOB!!! BRAVO!!! I loved it and I am glad I was able see this beautiful piece of work in person! I hope to return for other shows...
