Location--that is the biggest thing this run down "Hilton" has going for it.
The staff was friendly enough, and the valet was prompt and professional.
However, after checking in, we quickly remembered why we swore we would stay somewhere else next time we were in Ft. Worth.
Elevator.....Call TKE or Otis or Kone or Schindler and get someone to come refurbish those Elevators.....please start with the one on the far left as it seems to work the hardest and shake the most! Maybe when they do your upgrades they can fix the threshold heights...my best guess is they are 1.5" below finish floor height....it has to be difficult to roll a wheelchair out onto the ground floor.
After getting out of the Elevator we stopped briefly to thank JESUS that we made it to our floor. It was at that point we remembered the tiny hallways full of patched drywall (unpainted repairs) ...and the drywall work...well--I have never seen any worse craftsmanship. No self respecting La Quinta would leave their hallways looking as such...(and I'm not hating on La Quinta!!! We stay in those hotels ALOT...I am merely trying yo reference the fact there used to be and SHOULD BE a substantial difference in the quality of the hotels).
Oh yes....the memories came flooding back as we entered the room to find two WORN OUT beds, disposable cups that had been used by some previous tenants and recycled for us...(ok I guess...but at least rinse the paper cups out if we can't have fresh ones). Pillows looked good, til you touched them...stack all 4 together and you might have enough to angle your head up to watch TV. Lol...the tv!!! Stuck in some sort of mode that announced whatever buttons we pushed on the remote! Volume up 19!!!! Volume down 18!!!!! Channel 14!!!!!! Channel 13!!!!! I did check to see if I was being filmed for a hidden camera show. The bathroom floor was sticky, shower was eh....very little water pressure and only moderately hot...certainly not warm enough to make you feel like they are getting the sheets and towels clean downstairs. Please....somebody that runs this place ..order some new mattresses!!!! We can put up with the "vintage" feel of your run down hotel, as long as we have a comfy bed to sleep on!
A gas leak the first night we were there lead to Ruth's Chris shutting down as well as a couple other restaurants next door, it was unfortunate...but understandable. The bartender at the Hilton was very helpful....called a couple places for us and found out the wicked butcher was open....and off went. He was great.
Spent one more night and the next morning....we went downstairs for breakfast....the whole lobby smelled of sewage! We opted to walk to a restaurant rather than stay and ingest that! Found ourselves at the Omni...great restaurant, no smells, clean, and CLEAN.
We ate and hurried back over, checked out of the hotel...it still smelled of sewage!
Omni, the Sheraton, any Wyndham...stay there and avoid...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hilton Fort Worth for a convention in mid-February. Our stay started off with the front desk taking longer than I've ever seen to check in a handful of guests. Once we got to our room, it was incredibly humid and the window had a constant fog through our entire time there. In addition to the humidity, our room struggled to cool off and maintain any form of cold air, depriving us both plenty of much-needed rest across our two nights.
On our second day, we found a cockroach in the bathroom, which is a first at a hotel for me. When trying to page the front desk that morning for a hair dryer (because the room did not have one), I was put on hold repeatedly for close to 20 minutes. I was finally told one would be sent up. After half an hour, nothing, so I called again and spent another 15-20 minutes on hold and I was again told they'd send one up. An hour after that, nothing had been sent to the room, so we could not put off our plans any longer and had to go without. When approaching the front desk on our way out and reporting the humidity, lack of service, and the cockroach, I was told the A/C would be fixed and a dryer would be sent, but the front desk worker refused to acknowledge the cockroach problem.
On our way out on our final day, we decided to get breakfast in the lobby. No one was greeting guests, taking orders, serving water or coffee to new guests arriving at tables, and so we just served ourselves at the continental buffet. Our first interaction with any server was after we finished and were packing up, where we were presented with our bill, after zero drinks or service had been provided so far. When I mentioned this to the person who brought the check, they did compensate us for the breakfast, and that was the nicest interaction we had with anyone at the hotel during our stay. Based on the fact that there were two large separate conventions going on in that bit of downtown Fort Worth, bringing in thousands of people from around the country, I would've thought they'd staff the hotel better and care more about hospitality and quality service, but you'll need to look elsewhere for that.
We spoke to some of our friends who were in town for the same reason as us and told them about our stay, where they informed us that our experience was on-par with what they'd experienced in years before and they will not book that hotel anymore. I would not recommend this hotel at all and we will be staying in the Omni (or anywhere else) nearby for all of our future trips to this annual convention. This was just uncomfortable, unpleasant, and was a huge disappointment for what we thought would be a decent hotel, especially for how much we paid for a couple...
Read moreI have been here before and wanted to stay on the west side instead, the same side that JFK room is on, which is the 15th floor, 1530 to be exact. I checked in the night before (2 nights) and upgraded to a corner suite in number 1438. The whole purpose of the upgrade was to be in the corner on the west side. When we got there, they had me on the 8th floor! I told them I checked in the night before and even told them the room. I explained that I wanted to be below or close to below the JFK room and even upgraded to a corner. The front desk man spoke very poor English. They got me back on the 14th floor on the east side (terrible views attached). If I didn't have the west side, I wouldn't have paid for the upgrade. We got in our room (1408) and even though I checked in with our boys ages 7&8, they had nothing for the pullout couch. No blankets, pillows, or extra towels. I called down for blankets. It wasn't until I got blankets, that I realized I didn't have towels and pillows for them. Tried to use the phone to call down, but it doesn't work now. I go down after several minutes of an elevator ride and tell the front desk I need 4 pillows and 4 towels, and our phone needs repaired. I watched her write this down. Never received any of this all night. I gave my boys one of my pillows and had to use a small couch pillow for my extra pillow to sleep all night. The next morning, I told the front desk I never received towels and pillows, watched them write it down and still never had when we got back in the late afternoon. Up by our room was house cleaning; neither spoke English. After about 15 minutes, I was able to get towels and pillows from them. On checkout, the valet ticket system did not work. Oh, guess what? I can't call down; the phone still doesn't work. This was probably the most inattentive hotel experience I have had. When you ask for towels and pillows twice, and you watch staff write down your request and still receive nothing, very unsatisfactory. Then charge the customer for an upgrade, but then change the room when they arrive and don't even get me on the side I wanted. Why offer pre-check-in if you aren't going to honor the room selection? Lastly, if I make a reservation for 4 people, you should be prepared for 4 people to arrive. This is about my 19th hotel stay for the year and ranks in last place. Valet parking is 45 dollars and is mandatory. I won't be coming back here after two visits now. I will say the bartender is great and they have a great selection of beers on tap. The location is good, but I will try other...
