A huge shout out to Logan for an incredible experience on the Gold Mountain via ferrata! The top notch route design (with many options for different experience/difficulty/thrill levels) and amazing scenery made for a once in a lifetime, unforgettable experience. The staff are friendly and professional, the course is super unique with so many one of a kind elements (really fun and a bit challenging even for someone with a climbing background), and the abundant history of the area is made more tangible by passing through remnants of mining infrastructure/relics (the tunnel walk was quite cool!). I have done multiple via ferratas, and this was the best one by a mile - it constantly had me marveling at the thoughtful design and carefully crafted options for different experience interests. The course flowed well and was logically sequenced with interesting twists and turns to extend the exhilaration. Plus, it was private, so there was no waiting in line or crowding. I would love to do this course again and highly recommend the Gold Mountain via ferrata! A giant thank you to the Basecamp Crew for making this...
Read moreAs a connoisseur of via ferratas, having climbed them all over the country including some super secret climber-y ones on cliffs in the woods, I have to say that this is my absolute favorite. Better than any via ferrata in Ouray. Or any via ferrata in the San Juans. Or any via ferrata in the country! If you want to find a better via ferrata experience than the Gold Mountain you’re going to have to go straight to the Dolomites…and even then you might not find a better one. Can you say via fertata? Do you like piña coladas? And getting caught in the rain. Or do you like via ferratas? And grabbing rungs in the rain. Trust me on this. The Gold Mountain via ferrata is the absolute best via ferrata in the entire world. Don’t believe me? See...
Read moreA bucket list experience that did not disappoint. The reward of the climb exceeded the challenge. As a former rock climber, who hadn’t climbed for many years, this provided all the thrills and the beautiful scenery. I loved that this was a private via ferrata, built by climbers, and available only for customers of Basecamp (not available to the general public, or unguided). I always felt safe on the climb, but never felt like I sacrificed the fun for it. I would trust this company and its guides for any future rock or ice climbing experience. Shout out to my guide Nico who was not only fun, extremely safe, but also shot dozens of photos of me so I could remember everything - all included in the price of...
