Columbine Mineral Shop — Local services in Telluride

My advice... go on a Saturday. I have been told from people all over how awesome and knowledgable the man who owns the shop is and how incredible the collection is. It is an amazing collection, for sure, but unfortunately every time I have stopped in, his son is working. So un passionate, so rude, so short. I'm easy to talk rocks with- I have a booth at gem shows all over the country. I'm smart, respectable, I listen well, and I always buy. This guy was so rude about answering mineral questions and made remarks that would make someone lose passion and excitement for rocks... I went in quickly while my family was visiting town. I was not originally looking to buy anything. I told the gentleman that was working there that I had a crystal back home that I didn’t know the name of. I showed him a picture and he was able to identify it as rainforest jasper. He was very happy to help and talk to me about the things in the shop (rocks and minerals, of course, but also where they all came from), and eventually I ended up finding a sandstone slab that i absolutely love. Our whole family loved this stop in Ouray, CO! We stopped in to explore the incredible collection of minerals, fossils, and other archaeological treasures on display. The sweetest lady gave us a wonderful tour, and the owner showed us some of the coolest rocks and fossils we’ve ever seen.
