First and last time at “The Yankee Girl Restaurant”. Unfortunately, my party of five didn’t even get a chance to eat since they never put in the order. It is a very small place and understandably crowded on a Saturday morning (got there around 9:45 AM). We didn’t mind waiting for a table at first. We got seated in 5 minutes because it was too chilly for me to be outside, otherwise it would have been sooner. That’s when the actual waiting game started. It took another 10 minutes just for them to take our order.
I noticed that the manager (I assume it was the owner/manager) was already flustered asking a few of the other tables if they had been helped yet and thanking them for their patience. She never checked on my table, for some reason. We waited about 30 more minutes, but as soon as other tables who had been seated at least 15 minutes AFTER us started getting their food, I finally asked a server that was walking by if she could get an ETA for us since we had been waiting a while now. They never even brought our drinks (only water). The server had to get our waitress to check on our food and she finally came over and told us the “ticket never printed”. If she had at least checked in on us a little sooner she would have figured it out and we would have still waited for our food. I will say the waitress was a bit embarrassed about it and offered to put our coffee to go, but at this point we didn’t want to wait any longer. Disappointing to say the least.
Heads up, the menu is very limited and they only serve breakfast (the lunch menu is there, but you can’t order from it until noon). Everyone else’s food looked good, but not likely that we will be giving this place another chance next time we are in Ouray. Sad they couldn’t offer...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Ouray for the first time on July 14th - the 17th. Our first night there we were exploring our dining options. Many places had wait times and between the drive, being tired, wanting something light to eat before turning in, we didn't want to wait. We walked up the street from our hotel and found this charming place. Nolan was our server, a friendly young man who told us about the restaurant, a little about Ouray and his life in Colorado. We ordered two glasses of Chardonnay, I had the Smoked Salmon Appetizer that was absolutely delish... the combo of ingredients complemented each other so well and was just the right portion for one person as their entree, my husband ordered their Artichoke and Spinach Dip and I have to say it was the best we have ever had..... we found out it was a family recipe, and may they never change it. We went back to the restaurant two times for their breakfast, which was also very yummy and requested Nolan. We met the owner and she is such a charming woman with so much invested in her restaurant. The remodel of the place was done wonderfully with a touch of a mining flair in the decor. You can see her pride shining throughout. If you visit Ouray and do not want to wait in long lines and would love great food, service and atmosphere, look no farther than The Yankee Girl Cafe!!!!! Shout out to the staff, miss...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for breakfast, we ordered food and my wife’s food came out perfect but my food which was an omelette was completely wrong, possibly due to the server not writing down my order. I had to let another server know that my meal was wrong, and she was quick to help me and get me a new correct omelette. But the whole time I was waiting and finally got served and had a few bites, our server Kaci finally came by to check on us to see how the food is and I had to explain the situation, she apologized and said she would comp the omelette, which I insisted it was ok not to, because I got my omelette and I ate it, but she kept insisting to comp it because that’s what management would want, so I agreed with her. After that was the last time we saw her for a while. I finally saw her after 20 min of waiting and asked for the check, she said she would get it, another 15 minutes passed and she did not return, so I went inside to ask to pay. I noticed she did not comp the meal, and must have forgotten, I did pay the full amount and tipped 20% just because the other server did help us out more. But not the experience we were looking for, and the place was not busy just saying. ...
