The appetizer was not my favorite, but to each his own. My salad came out with no dressing on the salad or on the side. My wife's salad was fine. My prime rib their premier dish was severely over cooked and utterly flavorless. My wife's pasta was fine. Took forever for the server to address any of these issues, but once she did they discounted my prime rib 40%. In my opinion if you are going to charge premium prices you should be delivering premium quality food and service. If you claim to be fine dining you should have fine food and fine service. This establishment fell way short of this mark and felt very much like an Applebee's in both service and quality of food delivered fine for under a $100 for dinner for 2, but at $156.00 before tip I felt slighted and left hungry and unsatisfied. I will not be visiting this establishment again and would advise anyone looking for a quality meal with good service to look elsewhere. We ate here at the recommendation of our server from the night before where we had a fabulous meal and service. Terribly disappointed in this place and frankly kinda pissed about what I was charged for what we got, discounted or not. FYI only 2 beers on the rotating tap list, besides the point after the terrible food and service, but still noteworthy for some claiming to be a saloon.

What we liked: Staff, Decor, Piano Player, Diverse Menu What we didn't like: Some of the food, Prices I was a little apprehensive of going to Outlaw after reading some of the reviews but was greeted by a cheerful hostes and sat right away even though we didn't have reservation. It was 6 p.m. on a Tuesday night but the restaurant was about 3 quaters full. The old west decor was nice with the dark wood tables and barrel chairs. The chandeliers are wagon wheels with old fashioned oil lamps mounted on the edges. We had a pleasant waiter who helped us decide what to order and I was surprised that when I said "I will have the Duke cut" he knew I was referring to the John Wayne prime rib without asking. There was a piano player dressed in old west clothing playing an upright piano but played music from Beatovin to Elton John. Are steaks arrived cooked to our desired temperatures. My prime rib was flavourful but my wife thought that her ribeye could have used more seasoning. The vegetable medley was sautaeed it what seemed to be beer. We did not like the taste what ever it was cooled in. We did not have cotails or desert so I can't comment on them. Overall it was a nice experience but thought that the prices were a bit high for where we were and what you get.

Nestled in the western slopes of Colorado is "America's 🇺🇸 🇨🇭 Switzerland" better know as Ouray. In this quiet and quaint mountain ⛰️ mining town is the Outlaw Restaurant. Susana, was our waitress and she was AMAZING. The restaurant itself had a saloon like feel, and it was Colorado's version of Deadwood, SD. We were drawn in by the ivory tickling of the establishment's piano man. The food was 4.5/5 with the clam chowder lacking sufficient clams and it not being thick enough for an actual chowder - more like a soup. The FRESH BREAD was amazing 👏. For the price we paid they could have served the salad dressing in a ceramic container, instead of a plastic one. We ordered the Wagyau Ribeye. The mashed potatoes were on the thicker side, the vegetables were perfectly seasoned, and there was no bone in the 14 oz. steak, which means you got the full 14 oz.! They do charge a 3.5% credit card fee, but they did offer a 10% MILITARY 🪖 DISCOUNT. I am glad we went, but do what you need to do in Ouray first, because they roll the streets up early in this small town.

Really bad food and insanely overpriced.

4 of us arrived at 8:20 and knowing they closed at 9:00 asked if they wanted to serve us or not. They said yes and seated us at a table in the corner. 15 minutes later we were still waiting for someone to come to the table, bring water etc. Nobody even acknowledged us or said they'd be there later so we were just about ready to walk out and go find somewhere else to eat so maybe they noticed us getting restless and so finally a waitress came over.

She started out a little stiff but once we started talking to her in Spanish she became friendly. I wouldn't say her service was awesome but she was the only decent part of our entire experience.

My friend who ordered the $37 filet mignon said it was "the worst filet mignon I've ever had in my life."

My friend who ordered the $38 ribeye said "it's not good."

My friend who ordered the $27 trout also said "it's not good."

None of them even bothered to finish their meat.

I had the $19 cheese ravioli with marinara sauce. I'm sure the ravioli came off of the Sysco truck and was not made in house. The marinara sauce was spicy and had too much of some herb in it. Maybe oregano. The portion was small too.

The lady who bussed the tables was gruff and pointed to things she wanted us to hand to her (her English was very limited so maybe she didn't know the words for things) and seemed angry if we didn't give everything to her when she wanted it... Like for instance if we were still using the knife to butter our bread she seemed angry about that.

Some reviews say the food is good so I guess either those people don't know good food, or maybe just being hungry from being out in the wilderness makes them think it's better than it is, or maybe fun with the piano player distracts them with the bad food, or perhaps the kitchen was at the end of their shift and just slapped it out as quick as they could with zero care. Whatever the reason, our food was junk and I definitely would not ever eat...

This was our first time to Ouray, Co and we spent time here for New Year's Eve and my daughters 14th Birthday. It was easy enough to get in and the hostess was nice enough to contact us and let us know our table was ready. Once we sat down and our waitress came to our table I knew something wasn't right. The server was, let's say, giving off a vide like she didn't want to be there or be bothered. No smile, No sense of urgency, no customer service.

I let our server know it was my daughter's birthday (1-1) and wanted to know if they do something or if they could do something. She said they don't do anything, but will check to see if they could do something. I said ok...and waited.

Once we got our food...the wife and other daughter loved their Crab Legs, but the other kids and myself ordered steak. All the steaks were undercooked. We ordered them all Medium and they were all Medium Rare...or more undercooked. We didn't like them too much. I didn't say anything to management as I was pretty mad at the level of service we were receiving. Of the two times the server came by (no smile, no customer service at all) it was just rude behavior - to me.

Once the time the bill came...they automatically added 20% gratuity to the bill ($347) and that is why I believe the waitress didn't even try to properly wait on us. Why did she have to put forth the effort if the effort doesn't have to be put forth?

Needless to say the waitress did not try to offer anything for my daughters birthday (I wasn't asking for anything free and I realize this isn't Chili's) just something showing recognition of the birthday.

Bad: Poor customer service from Server, Steaks undercooked, lack of remembering important information (daughters bday) Good: Hostess was nice, Crab Legs

Recommendation: If you want good crab legs go, but don't expect waitress to have to work for anything. Steaks - order them cooked one step above how you normally like them.

Bottom line: we will not...

This was a weird culinary experience. Went at 5pm on a Friday night with the family as we did not have a reservation and tried to get in early. Ordered two stormy cocktails which were made very well and then it went a little south.

I started with a shrimp cocktail, the shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly but arrived hot in the ice cup which made for a strange mouth feel as the ends of the shrimp were cold but interior very warm.

I ordered the special which was a $40 tomahawk chop steak with garlic mashed and asparagus veggies which were very good, but the steak was really disappointing not only was it under-cooked as others have said (medium was pretty rare), but the the steak was maybe 3/4" thick and maybe 10 oz which is not expected with a tomahawk, but they were clearly proud of the huge bone that was prominently displayed off the plate. My wife ordered the pepper steak which was cooked perfectly, but was not prepared as expected as in our experience the pepper in pepper steak generally refers to peppercorns. However, in this case it equated to thinly sliced green and red bell peppers on top with a brown sauce and no peppercorns to be found. While this tasted ok it was not what she expected and is not part of the menu description. Our daughter opted for a ravioli disk which was fine but nothing special. We ended with a New York cheesecake for the daughter that tasted like it was out of a box.

Would recommend this place for the cocktails, but the food was disappointing...
