This was hands down one of our most favorite and memorable part of our weekend trip. I was looking for things to do while in town, and thought a reenactment seemed interesting. Not only was it a entertaining reenactment, but the program was also very educational. Hearing that there's an educational part would probably turn some people off, but don't be scared off. The display of uniforms, artillery, uniforms used and worn by both the American and Japanese side was eye opening. My husband's favorite part was the demonstration and firing of the "guns" used during the war. Everything was shown and done with purpose and very respectful of war time and the sacrifices that everyone had to endure during those times. One other part that I enjoyed was seeing the time period dress of what every branch of military, as well as women, wore at that time. Once the reenactment began it felt very intense, and when the flame thrower was demonstrated from hundreds of yards away, we could still feel the heat! It was actually quite emotional as well; seeing them hoist the flag like they did at the battle of Iwoa Jima. All service men and women in attendance, and who take part of the reenactment were also honored. When they played the star spangled banner I had to keep the tears back. If you have any doubts of going, don't listen to those doubts. Go, because not only is it educational, but it's entertaining, and it's done with the respect it deserves.

3 different parts to this museum all included in the $24.00 admission price. First at the old Nimitz hotel, some interesting things, this closes at 5pm. Up the road is the Pacific Combat Zone where you can see history of the old PT boats, this area closes at 3pm, there are several outdoor exhibits and memorials as well as a beautiful Japanese Tea Garden. But the most interesting of all these is in the back The National Museum of The Pacific War, also closes at 5. I would recommend to start there, or at least make sure you leave a large portion of your visit to this area. We spent 3 hours there before being told they were closing and we would need to leave, we could have spent a lot more time there. The people who sold us tickets told us about 2-3 hours for all 3 areas. We were disappointed to not have the opportunity to have seen the entire museum. But it is worth the price of admission if you plan accordingly.

I spent 20 years in San Diego and never new Admiral Nimitz, commander of the Pacific Fleet during WWII, was born in Fredericksburg. The National War Museum dedicated to the Pacific theater was established in his honor. It's absolutely exceptional, showcasing one of a kind genuine artifacts. This place is truly fascinating and should not be missed when visiting the Texas Hill Country. Keep in mind that there are three separate buildings a few blocks apart. At the combat zone, you'll see one of only two remaining PT boats in existence. I only wish we had more time to take it all in.

I had visited the museum on one of those really cold days in February, and found it extremely detailed but well done. I took the day to go back to the combat zone for the flame thrower and wow! I didn't expect the extra exhibits, the beautiful courtyard and the huge battleship game (lol). I also found the volunteers to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Of course the flame thrower was awe-inspiring. I've never seen anything like it! I appreciate the clarification for what the tool was used for. Well done! 👍👍

An amazing job by all the volunteers who help keep history alive and top of mind ! Very educational and realistic reenactment program, as well as museum located on the grounds. Good amount of crowd participation and enthusiasm. Can't believe they only put on this show about 4 times per year, so plan accordingly! Not too crowded this first weekend of spring break. FYI, it's located about 2 blocks down from the National Museum of the Pacific War, not on the same grounds. Everyone should plan a visit! ❤️👍

Loved the historical aspects, the layout, all the visual aids inside the museum; having said that, I was confused with the demo part in the combat zone- expected to see a demo with neutral/factual tone, but instead with excitement and pride (?) about enemy at that time-you don’t know who is visiting. What if a victim’s family came to pay a visit to remember their ancestors that were brutally killed or those who were affected by the war were visiting? Is it appropriate?
