New India Bazaar is a great grocery store in all respects, it’s clean, organized and you name it 9 out of 10 times they have it. Their prices have been reasonably competitive over the years. It was a great improvement from what used to be Dana Bazaar decades ago, while still retaining the chaat gol-gappe/fuchka stand over the weekends. However, in the recent couple of years they’ve started carrying their own brand VEER, which is nearly double in price as compared to other brands being sold all over US like Deep, Laxmi and Bansi. They have started their own packaging and have slowly started reducing carrying other brands for dal-lentils, whole masalas and flour etc. forcing customers to buy VEER products which are significantly higher priced than other brands. With this change in place this store is no longer the best priced Indian grocery store. So savvy customers must compare quantity to total price being paid vs. their trick of mentioning price per lb. And at this point they are no cheaper than India Cash and Carry across the intersection and that’s unfortunate because their lower prices were the main attraction for most price conscious...

Let me start by saying there is nothing bad with a 3 star rating, but there is also nothing good about it. As a non-Indian shopper who is always looking to get the full experience, this simply wasn't it.

The Bazar is pretty small. Maybe my expectations regarding size were too large because of the other Indian stores in the area, but needless to say, this space was way smaller than expected. The aisles were very close together and required shoppers to avoid turning where other customers and employees are already present.

Also, probably because of the size, the selection of food wasn't what I expected either. The experience played out more like a trip to 7-Eleven than a full service market.

In summary, it was alright, which is neither good nor...

1st visit there .. happy with that . store size is similar to other Indian grocery around that area . They have lots of variety products which I have not seen in India C &C .. Price vise almost similar . Good part they have deals on items during weekend starting Friday and lots of variety products. Deal items are listed at entrance. Veggie are fresh . As it was my 1st visit , I don't know the store and asked lots of things and I don't see any issue with staff. They helped me for every single item I asked happily. Check out line is also moving fast and helped me to bag my stuff. Will definitely visit this...

I have been going to this place for over 10 years even when it was Dana bazar. Never considered reviewing it. It usually has fresh Indian groceries. It has always worked. However, today I went to get some specific pooja items for Ganesh Pooja. I bought a pedestal for lord Ganesha and noticed a slight damage … the owner was very kind and helped find a good replacement in the back of the store and got a new one fixed. I have rarely seen this level of customer service in an Indian store.. thank you
