This company better count their lucky stars for their amazing tour guide named silver! She needs a raise! She was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and really great to talk to. She knew the history and the equipment very well. For silver I give five stars!
However with that being said, I give this company one star!
They're blatant disregard and refusal to properly address a marketing and advertising issue That left my group fairly disappointed. We had a large group that dwindled down to 5 individuals before the night was through.
I called to discuss their falsely depicted & advertised ghost tour on 2 sites. This tour was supposed to be the whole property. When we got there we were informed that we would only be ghost hunting a very small and cramped basement that you could not stand up in. Not only were we not allowed to go through the house 2 hunt but we couldn't even look @ it. The claim was because of guests as its a working inn. Now this is not something that miraculously or suddenly happened. They are well aware that its a working inn & should not be falsely advertising to get people to do their ghost tour. Trapping them into a purchase and refusing to refund their customers. The website says that each case is handled individually & although it is not typical that they give a refund, that there is consideration given for each case!
I will tell you that there was no consideration given whatsoever, when I called the call center it was an immediate "no I'm not giving a refund" I explained how it was falsely advertised and not what I paid for! I provided her the websites advertisements. She then offered to give me a credit to redo a hunt. Being that I am not from the state and was going to be leaving the next day, this did not work for me. And why on earth would I want to redo that when I didn't enjoy it the first time and left very underwhelmed and disappointed? The only good thing about that night was getting to talk to silver.
The company and their policies are unethical and shiesty. I do not appreciate being trapped into a purchase with false advertisement. Services were not rendered as promised or advertised.
I could have been okay with an apology and acknowledgment of the situation , however that is the last thing they did. Complete refusal to own up to it, complete disregard for the fact that I just wasted almost $100 on sitting in a cramped basement with 20+-people.
When provided the website of the advertisement, the woman I spoke with completely disregarded The fact that I just wasted money on something I never got.
She acknowledged the misrepresentation of the ghost hunt & she said it was their third party website as if that some how was fine. Basically telling me that I just had to deal with it because I wasn't getting a refund. This is A third party they pay to advertise for them. Although on both of their websites they say consideration is given on a case-by-case status. She wasn't considering anything. So I brought that to her attention, and asked "WHAT CONSIDERATION?" that is when she promised to call me back after she spoke to a manager. I never received a call and I had to call my credit card company for the blatant fraud!
The lack of understanding empathy or even any consideration whatsoever for their customers is disgusting! I was extremely disappointed because this company not only advertises on their own page but they have a third party website that they allow to advertise the welty house tour and are fully aware of what they are doing!
If you're going to run a ghost hunt and advertise it for the entire house from the basement to the attic, than the inn should not be operating as an inn on those nights due to the use of equipment that is very sensitive to sound and vibration. The sound pollution and the vibration of movement makes it a mute point to even try. It was a complete waste of $ and a complete waste of time!
There should be an policy that on the ghost hunting nights the rooms should be rented by investigators only. Or guests are only able to rent if they are...
Read moreI'm sorry to say that my experience with your tour on Sunday 13, 2024 was completely a disappointment.
Our guide was ... as he stated "Indifferent about ghost." The only mention of Ghost were an after thought to the lengthy history narrative. Not what I booked the tour for. The 8 haunted stops advertised for your tour only consisted of 4, extreamly fast paced walkes from place to place.
My ability to the moderate suggestion in physical condition to have by your site would have been, and was sufficient on the other ghost tours taken on this weekend, 30 year anniversary for my husband and I.
We brought our 10 year old grandson with us to enjoy the history and haunted aspects of Gettysburg. This tour was our last for the stay, and it promised a 4.5 star rating of enjoyment. If I had to rate our experience it would be a -0. My grandson was bored as we were expecting ghost related history, not the history of Gettysburg that we had already had through out our weekend.
I booked the 4 extended places to go to, but the experience, unsatisfied results, and my inability to run with the group, ended after the 4 stops when non-extended group members were dropped off at the inn. When explained the reasoning behind our early departure to our guide, I was dismissed by the guide saying, "Well we have a lot of distance to travel." The tour only went up to the cemetary then it was finished.
Then he had the audacity to ask for a tip!?! I rented an EMF detector for my grandson, and we bought one at your gift shop, only to have them peak red at maximum capacity the entire tour. A true waisting of money. I also bought 6 of your ghost plushies for my grandchildren at home thinking at $7.00 each they would be much larger than the 3 inch plushies that we were given. All in all, if I could find a way to sue you for my money back I would gladly do so. In a nut shell, I was not given the 8 stop tour advertised, I was not given the haunted experience promised, the guide was rude and cared very little for the paying guests, I had to choose to not remain with the extended tour due to the guides lack of care for us and rudeness in my physical ability, the EMF detector was an expensive joke, the ghost plushies were grossly miss advertised by the pictures that showed it's size.
You will not get any recommendations from us. Not that it matters to you, as after the several years of reviews on your site mostly have the same results as I have just stated, and nothing has been done by you to improve the guests experience. And the lame response in reply to the less than happy reviews were all stated as being "Sorry for having a bad experience. That your tours rate at a 4.0 and maybe the next tour we take with you will be a better experience. REALLY?!? Never again, and I will warn anyone given the chance, to stay clear from any of the tours you...
Read moreWe did the Welty house ghost hunt with Silver last week. There were a total of 4 of us. We spent about an hour and a half in the first cellar. 90% of it is: Silver has a windows tablet with an program (Phasmabox) on it she hands to the customers and it makes noises and randomly does pictures/words and then she googles things that come up like names to try to help it feel like something is there. While there is no evidence that the program does not work, it was a bunch of randomness and no compelling evidence that any entity was attempting to communicate. One of the customers did seem to have some kind of interaction as he "felt a presence". EMF detectors went off occasionally, the rods did rod things, the Thermal seemed extremely uncalibrated as everyone showed 120+ degrees, and the other device never went off at all. We went into another cellar for over 30 min and basically the same. Silver looked away from her phone for maybe 10 min outside of the initial history lesson. If you want to waste $35 /each being bored for 2 hours and playing on a "not tablet" with a "not an app" go for it. Felt like a waste of time, better off doing the regular tours. Very disappointed, was hoping for some excitement but my wife was dosing off for a good...
