Aloha!

If you are looking to rent surf board(s), learn to surf, want your kids to learn to surf, come to Dukes Lagoon.

Not only are Chris and Misa great people and super great to work with, offer reasonable pricing, they truly are pros on teaching others how to surf, and they know how to get you up very quickly at one of the best spots on Waikiki.

I have been coming to Waikiki and the Ilikai since the 70's and have seen a ton of outfits that rent surf boards and equipment and teach lessons. Chris and Misa will keep you and your family safe and teach you the proper way to learn to surf, paddle, and to get up. All my kids, nephews, and nieces have learned how to surf from them and their crew. Another note: their crew are true legends and have been surfing these sports for several decades. They will take the time to ensure you are taken care of and have a great experience. They will keep you and your family safe out there, actually teach you how to surf, you will get up! And here is the bonus. Chris will get a ton of photos of you and your loved ones riding waves with the iconic Diamondhead in the back ground.

There are other outfits on Waikiki. They are fine. If you want a much better experience, walk down the beach, walk around the Hilton Lagoon up the ramp into the Ilikai lobby. They are right there. You can also rent stand-up paddle boards, boogie boards, chairs, snorkel equipment. They got it all. They have a ton of surf boards, I rent there and try new boards every day each time I come visit.

This is the place to come if you are looking to surf...

If you are staying at or around the Ilikai hotel you have to do yourself a favor and rent all your beach items from here. Chris and Misa were so incredibly helpful to us first timers to Hawaii. From the second we walked in so confused on what to do and where to start Chis had our backs. We called around and other places didn't answer the phone, didn't call back, or didn't have what we were looking for. Some places had chairs and umbrellas, others had just snorkel equipment, and others had just surf boards. Chris and Misa had it all. They set us up with chairs, an umbrella, a wagon to haul all our gear, snorkel equipment, life vest, and even a cooler that we wanted but he didn't have. He went and got us one and we picked it up the next morning. While talking to us I can tell Chris saw that we were so overwhelmed with the island. He took us outside and pointed out some great beaches around our hotel and some amazing restaurants in the area (harbor pub and chart house). He definite advocate for the island and a truly genuine person that goes out of his way to help you. I can't thank Chris enough for his advice and all the items he provided us for our 10 days here in Oahu. If you have the pleasure of meeting Chris and Misa it will change your trip for the...

Updated 2nd post 2 years later Came here brought my son (good surfer) and husband with some girl friends This is a mom and Pop shop run by Chris and Misha They put their heart and soul into the shop. Have a very good selection of surfboards. This time my husband took a lesson cannot beat the value that you get and care that you get for this lesson $120 hour and a half lesson and they take pictures. No extra cost. And if you rent a board from them the next day and they’re doing a lessons he will snap pictures of you and send them to you. Yeah, no extra charge. They just like spreading the aloha spirit. we planned this trip and our location where we would stay based on Dukes Lagoon best choice .

First post We decided to rent there because of their board selection fire wire torque walden Takayama NSP Stewart all really good boards. Chris and Misa are very knowledgeable about all the breaks. We are experienced surfers but first time in Waikiki. Chris explain the brakes, where it was safe to enter, where to watch out for coral reef. If you take lessons with them they automatically take pictures. we happen to be paddling out and Chris said if you surf here for a little bit I'll take pictures. They are all about the aloha spirit! Surf boards, to boogie boards… Stand up paddle boards, to snorkeling equipment…. Duke’s Lagoon is a “ must go” for all your aquatic needs. The owner, Chris Sanders, and his wife run the shop with a passion for the surf. Went with a friend to rent a couple of long boards on our recent trip, and Chris was the man in command… smile that lit up the room< and a vibe to match it. Chris was not only the nicest person I met on the island, but wow, was he knowledgeable. Not only did he hook us up with the boards, but also gave us some great advice as to where to surf, and what to look out got.. the next day, he hooked us up with stank up boards, and convinced us that we needed to go see the turtles (not so) nearby. Lol. Even loaned us a couple of masks and snorkels to jump in. Later that night, we bumped into him again, and he saved us a trip to an overbooked restaurant, and suggested a great local spot, with excellent food and drinks. I’m telling you, this guy was like a guardian angel who just kept popping up when we needed him. Chris also gives surf lessons, so regardless your experience, I’m sure he’s your man. The island vibe is real, and if so, Chris sanders and his shop Duke’s Lagoon are the embodiment of that philosophy.

This was our 3rd trip to Hawaii and each time we go we always try to do new things and go new places. All 3 times before going my husband always talked about how he wanted to try to surf but wasn't sure because he didn't feel 100% confident in the water. We were walking through the IIikal Hotel looking around and found Duke's Lagoon. We walked in and Chris and my husband started talking and he immediately assured my husband that he could teach him how to surf and that he would have people in the water so there was nothing to fear. Me and my husband both signed up for surf lessons and are so glad we did. It was the highlight of our trip and we can't wait to go back and do it again. We both rode several waves and it was our first time ever surfing! I highly recommend going to see Chris and Misa at Duke's Lagoon if you want to catch some waves in Hawaii or just want to rent a surf board, paddle board or any kind of beach items. Tommy and Eric also in the water helping us were both great and we could not have done it without them! Everyone in the crew made us feel comfortable and gave us the confidence we needed. Also my husband rode out the first wave they put him on which made it even more special.
