We booked a private snorkeling trip for our family and had high hopes based on previous boat excursions we’ve done. The boat itself was very nice and clean, and we appreciated that the captain and his mate shared some interesting information about the area. We even spotted a few sea turtles, both from the boat and briefly in the water.

That said, this experience fell short in several ways. The captain had a very different personality than what we’re used to—while not outright rude, he was extremely short and hard to connect with. My daughters actually mentioned feeling uncomfortable around him, which is unfortunate when you’re hoping for a light, fun outing. In past charters, we’ve had captains who made the experience feel warm, welcoming, and even a little magical—this was not that.

Conditions were incredibly rough that day, and I expected we might be taken to a more sheltered cove to snorkel. Instead, we dropped anchor in very choppy water about 600 yards off Waikīkī Beach, where visibility was poor and the current made it difficult to enjoy the experience. I even became seasick—something that never happens to me, despite growing up on boats as a military brat.

On the bright side, the captain’s mate was wonderful—kind, attentive, and genuinely tried to help us spot marine life and manage the rough conditions. She even offered ginger candy to help with my nausea.

Unfortunately, for over $850, this ended up being the most disappointing boat outing we’ve had. While the boat and crew weren’t bad overall, the vibe and location choices just didn’t meet expectations, and we left feeling like it wasn’t...

Best. Day. EVER.

Listen up, ocean lovers, thrill-seekers, and anyone with a pulse—Adventure Boat is the BEST way to do the water in Honolulu. As someone who lives here and has been on just about every boat—catamarans, sailboats, you name it—nothing compares to this absolute rocket of a ride.

I booked this tour when my friends were visiting, and let’s just say, I am now a legend. Captain Chris and his crew (besides being ridiculously good-looking - are they running a boat tour or an Abercrombie ad?) are professional, knowledgeable, and hilarious. Safety first...fun a very close second.

Now, let’s talk wildlife. We saw SO MUCH. Turtles, dolphins, and a pod of whales that swam RIGHT UP TO US. I’m pretty sure one made eye contact with me and we had a spiritual moment. This was followed by epic snorkeling, swimming, and general mermaid-like behavior.

And did I mention the speed? This boat flies across the water like it’s got somewhere to be. It’s part thrill ride, part VIP wildlife tour, part luxury snorkeling experience—all in one.

If you’re even thinking about booking, just do it. Trust me, you’ll be talking about this day for the rest of your life. 10/10, would trade my land legs to do it...

If you're in Oahu and looking for something unforgettable, BOOK THE TIKI SUNSET CRUISE with The Adventure Boat! It’s seriously one of the most unique and fun experiences I’ve ever had on the island.

We cruised out in the late afternoon with Capt. Chris, who was not only an expert captain but also hilarious, charismatic, and super knowledgeable about the area. He instantly made everyone feel relaxed and excited for the ride ahead. The boat is fast, smooth, and private — no crowds, just your group and the ocean.

The highlight? We pulled up to this old-school hidden gem of a tiki bar — La Mariana — that feels like stepping back in time. The tropical drinks are strong and delicious, the vibe is pure vintage Hawaii, and the sunset views from the boat ride back? Absolutely breathtaking. Golden skies, ocean breeze, music playing — pure magic.

This isn’t your average touristy tour. It’s personal, adventurous, and a total blast. Highly recommend it for couples, small groups, or anyone looking to do something special and off the beaten path.

Book it. Trust me. You’ll be talking about it long after the sun goes down....
