I was disappointed with the service. I had 4 different services for my birthday from my husband. Massage. It was okay, I am pregnant so I have to be laying on my side and it was basically no pressure. I slept through the majority of it. I liked the heated bed. Facial, this was the best service I had. My husband originally got me the signature facial, but they had to switch it to a pregnancy safe facial. I really appreciated that, because I wouldn’t want anything to happen to my baby. The technician made me feel comfortable and well cared for. She was very professional. Mani/Pedi, this is where things went down hill. My technician (tech A) was really nice, but was pretty unprofessional. My sis in law was with me, and tech A would get distracted with talking. She didn’t cut the cuticles on my right foot and would ask me if she had already done something (like turning on the drying lamp). My nail tech and my sis in law’s nail tech (tech B) didn’t get along. It was pretty awkward to be in that negative environment, it really put off the mood. Tech B also said she was quitting the following week. Hair. tech B offered to do my and my sister’s hair (wash and style). She offered a braid service, and I was on the fence of what I wanted. So I tried explaining that I wanted to leave the bottom half down and the top half French braid. She started braiding and did some weird design where I basically looked like a kindergartener (with a one-sided half ponytail stick out the right side of my head). I could not see what the back looked like and luckily my sis had her fix it. With all this negativity, we decided to not purchase the products they were about to sell us at the register. Imagine if I had walked out with that kind of hair from this type of establishment on my birthday…
Luckily my husband still thinks I’m cute no matter what I look like. I didn’t want to tell him all this because it was extremely expensive, and I felt bad for him spending an insane amount on us for me to complain about it. The front desk also was unprofessional. At the end when we were checking out, one lady had said out loud referring to the total price “is this supposed to be a secret” and the other lady said no. They printed out the bill and handed us the receipt. When we told my husband why he paid so much for us, he said we weren’t supposed to know how much everything cost as he had already put his card on file and told them just to charge it. Now that I know the price, I can definitely say it was not worth it (except for...
Read moreI had a horrible experience with Mandara Spa. First, I tried to book an appointment for the spa with the hotel concierge at Hilton Village. He told me that he would happily book me an appointment, however, there was a discount for “in person” bookings. When I went to the spa to book my appointment I was greeted by a woman who’s name tag delineated that she was a supervisor. I told her that the concierge told me to come in person to book an appointment and she replied, “ who told you that? That is not true!” She scheduled my appointment with lots of attitude and sass. No discount.
I arrived for my appointment on Sunday at 10am. I was greeted by the front desk staff and was immediately asked for payment and 20% gratuity was included. I booked an 80 minute massage and with 20% gratuity my total was $270!!! I was on vacation and decided to splurge. However, I thought it was quite rude to ask for a gratuity before the services were provided.
I was then escorted to the male locker room. There was no attendant on duty and the desk representative told me to wait and someone would be with me shortly. I waited in the locker room area for 10 minutes and then went back to the front desk. The front desk staff informed me they would contact someone. 20 minutes later, a gentleman gets off the elevator and the staff tells me he was getting fruit for the day. However, I arrived 1h early with the hopes that I could enjoy the jacuzzi. By the time I was checked in, escorted to the locker area, changed and showered, I had only 10-15 minutes before my massage.
The mens locker room was an ABSOLUTE mess. For $270 I expected much more. For starters, upon issuing a locker, the staff hands you a small lanyard which smells of mildew! My hands smelled even after several hand washes and a massage. Second, the showers were coated in mildew (pictures available). There was also mildew on the doors and chairs. It almost appeared as if the spa had recently flooded.
The ACTUAL massage was average. The masseuse was decent and he listened to all of my problem areas.
However, the environment of this place was so gross. For $270 I would expect snacks, water, beverages, and better overall cleanliness. I would NOT recommend this spa. Save your money and go to the...
Read moreWent to this spa because I expected luxurious experiences due to its pricing. Very disappointed in many areas. In short, all the bad reviews are true! In my experience, let me break it down:
The booking:
Was easy, the person who answered the phone was able to get my 14 letters long last name right in the first time I spelled it out. The disappointment was she informed me on the phone that there was A COMPLIMENTARY parafin on either hands or feet on the package deals I bought. I chose to do feet. At the end, they charged me additional fees and mandatory tips on that complimentary service.
The amenities:
Yes, dated, but didn't bother me. The swimming pool though was overcrowded, full of kids, not a relaxing spa day for me.
The body massage:
I had Sara. Her technique was good. She informed me that she would use the Elamis product for the scrub. But anyone who had done body scrub and massage enough would know that she used something else that was more rough on my skin. And I did test their products while waiting to get escorted in the massage room, so I knew the differences. It supposed to last 50 minutes, but mine including massage, scrub and shower finish right at 50 minutes, everything was rushed. The overall experience was 6/10.
The facial:
I don't have any specific concerns on my face. Their equipment and products looked fancy, but it was not the best facial I've ever had. I had Nena. She was nice, but any professional aesthetician would know that there shouldn't be any product left when the service was done. I had a big piece on mask left on my face when she tried to show how radiant it turned out after the service. 5/10
The parafin:
I felt asleep by the time she got to my feet, so couldn't judge much. Again there was something left on my feet after the wax was taken off. 7/10
The damage:
$283.76 for an okay service of total 1 hour and 40 minutes. It's a big dissatisfaction for something that attached to Hilton brand. Not...
