I wanted to luv everything about the HHV, but didn't. If half stars could be given,I would have gave 3 1/2. Expect a detailed review w/honesty Pricing; HHV is priced about the same as other resorts. I liked the different tower choices. Some had private pool/gym, offered 2 balconies, different views (beach, lagoon, garden)joined rooms, more space, suites, & more than 1 bed. HHV had a lot to offer & is larger than other resorts in area. Location; HHV is on beautiful Waikiki beach. It's a huge property with lots of shopping, restaurants, snack places, their own lagoon, beach rentals, pools, & all within walking distance. They are also located on public bus route. Check in; 4pm easy, but long line around this time. Plenty of friendly workers & they get you thru relatively quickly. you get a map of the grounds & they show you where to go. Online; this app is helpful I suggest it. Download Hilton app & Join honors program. You can check in & skip the line then get cards at a better, less busy time. Early check in cost $. chat feature on app we used 4 times to ask "?'s". They answer quick & were friendly. get & use digital key. We liked it while it lasted & worked. Twice it would not unlock & we had to use the card. after 3rd day it didn't work at all. We went to lobby & they suggested use the card because "systems are overloaded & often down". System could use upgrading. Being a Hilton member they let us check out at 1, not 11. Later check out is $175 and you can stay till 6 Lobby/grounds; drop off loop is busy w/ on sight taxi ,vallet,Uber/lyft,customer cars,a crosswalk. so cramped & busy there. Beautiful grounds with variety of plants/ flowers, ponds, waterfalls, rock structures, displays, statues, & walkways. lots of photo opps & seating areas to relax. Lobby has services for non English speakers readily available if needed. One area is lined w/luggage & patrons waiting for cab to airport. I thought this to be unorganized & in the way. It blocks the flow of walkers & patrons w/car. walkways; beautifully lined, signs w/arrows made finding your way easier, not busy, lots of different ways to get where you're going. There are many pools to choose from & kept clean. Elevators; this is a complaint of many. I found it good & bad. enter your room floor & it tells you what elevator to take(ABCD or E)when you enter assigned elevator, no need to reach around others for keys. get in & elevator stops at all floors assigned. thought out & good concept, but they don't know # of people in party so it would be crowded & you have to enter floor for another assignment, then elevator stops at all assigned floors & nobody is on from there-waisting time. should have you enter floor #, & # of people in party. During peak times this can be a long wait. Elevators are DIRTY! Clean the mirrors, walls and floors please! Rainbow king oceanfront; great view, clean, spacious. There should be a kitchenette. This bed was the lumpiest, most uncomfortable bed my husband & I both have ever slept in. He travels for his job and has seen ALOT of hotels. Not acceptable! Housekeeping came daily with towels, made bed, & took garbage. Had to ask for more bar soap & coffee. Body wash was empty upon arrival & more brought to us. Mango coconut Shampoo/conditioner/soap/lotion all provided. Dining; lots of choices. VERY expensive. $30 omelet, $13-19 cocktails, $10 shaved ice, $5 snack bag chips, $4 Gatorade. Waitresses are great. The food was just okay. We tried lots of new stuff, but the best meals we had were off site. Entertainment; at $50/day plus taxes (on top of what you pay for the room) we were disappointed. We did not do exercise classes, no arts & crafts, no gym/pools. They have some excursions they book for you but we booked prior to going on other sites. Fees are high for those who do not use these things. We did watch the fireworks & eat at the Tappa bar during live music. That was nice but we tipped the band, bought the food, and tipped waitress so we feel that $50 a day is excessive.

I just concluded a stay at the HHV. Here’s a quick rundown of my stay: The Good (Pros): • I was placed in a room in the Rainbow Tower, which had exceptional views! The room itself was very clean and modern. • The resort grounds are stunning! The hotel maintains the grounds very well, and it's overall a very beautiful property. • There are six pools and four jacuzzis on the property. The Paradise Pool is the best one with three water slides! • The beach and lagoon are clean, and there are plenty of resort chairs. • The cleaning staff is exceptional. Every day, they made the room spotless and were very friendly. • The Hawaiian Village has numerous food options and two ABC stores. The Bad (Cons): • Three of the pools and all four jacuzzis close every day at 6 PM. This means that after 6 PM, there are no jacuzzis available on the property. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since the sun doesn’t set until 7:30 PM, and most people would like to use the jacuzzi after a long day of exploring. I’ve never been to a hotel that closes all jacuzzis this early. • The towel stand for the pool closes at 6 PM. This makes it difficult to exchange dirty towels used earlier in the day and impossible to get towels for the pools that are open until 9 PM. • They don’t check room keys at the pool entrances, so anyone can use them. During my stay, I saw two homeless individuals hanging out at the pool. It makes sense since nobody checks for room keys at the pool entrances. • Upon arriving for check-in, the bag check staff informed me that nobody would be available to take my items to my room for at least two hours. This would have been fine if they provided a safe place to store my bags in the meantime. Instead, they told me to leave my bags unattended on the sidewalk in front of the hotel, and they’d get to them when they could. I saw hundreds of bags on the sidewalk unattended, and literally anyone could just walk up and take whatever they wanted. It was 100% not secure at all. • The entrance door to my hotel room had a one-inch gap between the door and the floor. As a result, anytime someone walked through the hallway, I could hear them talking and yelling at all hours. • There is a door joining your room and the neighboring room next to you, which has very poor noise insulation. For the duration of my trip, I could hear the TV and all conversations from my neighbors clearly. This made my entire stay extremely noisy and loud. • The noise insulation between floors is terrible. For the duration of my trip, I could hear the neighbors above me walking around or moving their luggage at all hours. Again, if you’re looking for a quiet room, this place isn’t it. • The elevator situation to get up to your room is terrible. Almost every time I went up to my room, I had to wait 10-15 minutes for an elevator. Words can’t even describe how stressful the elevator situation is. It’s like a battle royale every time one comes down. Once an elevator becomes available, people start pushing, shoving, and yelling to get in. • Parking here is atrocious! The hotel charges $72 a night for parking. What’s even worse? Sometimes the line to get out of the parking structure was long. There were a few times where I had to wait 10-15 minutes to get out of the structure. • One-third of the resort grounds smell like raw sewage. I’m not sure why or where it’s coming from, but be warned. If you’re sensitive to foul odors, this place isn’t for you. I guarantee that every day you’ll come across this raw sewage smell. • The shower water pressure is the worst I’ve ever experienced. It’s basically a glorified trickle. • The room does not have blackout curtains. Every morning, the room is extremely bright since they just have normal curtains. These normal curtains let in about 50% of the sunlight, making it difficult to sleep in past sunrise. •Carpet in the room could use a deep clean. Overall, I’d rate my stay a 6.5/10 and probably wouldn’t stay here again for the price.

We just returned home from a 5 night stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and overall had an excellent time - we will return. First a little background - we visited for our babymoon and therefore were looking for a self-contained resort that we didn't have to leave. This fit the bill perfectly, 1. Communication with the hotel pre-arrival was wonderful - they were very responsive on chat, and for those people that complain about long lines for check-in, if you book with Hilton and use a digital key, you don't have to visit the check-in desk. We arrived late in the evening (11pm) and my digital key was ready - we went straight to our room (1303 in the Ali'i tower) and settled in for the night. Throughout our stay, we texted, chatted and called, and each interaction we had with hotel staff was excellent, warm and friendly in a way that is consistent in Hawai'i. 2. Rooms - OK, the hotel is showing its age, and depending on which tower you stay in, this will be more or less apparent. We were in the Ali'i tower in a beach facing room, and the view was exceptional. The room itself was large, the bed was comfortable, but they for sure need a refresh. There are tons of dings in the walls, paint missing, worn furniture and just a lack of style in the room, with large walls that are bare. Like I said, the room was comfortable enough, but the Ali'i needed some love and I presume some of the older towers would be in desperate need, although I can't say for certain since we weren't in any other rooms. Function is the best way to describe them, but if you are looking for luxury rooms, you will not find them here. That being said, we had a ton of room to spread out, and we were comfortable - especially the bed. 3. Housekeeping - we had daily housekeeping service, but they do not offer turn-down service, even in the Ali'i although I read in several places that they did, it must have been old news. Housekeeping was good, but not great. It was nice to come back to a made bed and a tidied room, but having recently stayed at Disney's Grand Californian, where housekeeping felt like they made the room brand new again, this was not the case at the Hilton. 4. Food - we almost exclusively dined at the resort, often breakfast at the Tropics and maybe an ABC lunch and a resort dinner. Food is prices are elevated at the resort, but not any more than dining at any other resort, and food is pricey in Hawaii as well. The food was EXCEPTIONAL. There were 2 times during our stay where we dined off property, and those were by far our worst meals of the trip. Food was visually very appealing, very flavorful and great sized portions. Of particular note was a smash burger at the Tapa Bar, the Shrimp Po-Boy at the Hau Tree Bar, and every dish we sampled at the Tropics Grill. Service was great, the coffee was great, I just dont have enough good things to say about the food and restaurant offerings, plus the 2 ABC stores on property and the restaurants at the Rainbow Bazaar, you could comfortably stay for a week and not get bored with the food. 5. Resort and Activities - whether you want to go to the beach, swim, snorkel, float, surf, bike or paddle board, there are so many things to do at the resort. With easy access to a huge protected beach, several pools, and the calm lagoon, you could just do whatever you wanted. A reef right in the ocean in front of the resort is a great habitat for tropical fish and sea turtles, several of the pools have drinks/food service, Booking tours, boat rides as well as just exploring the grounds and people watching, this resort was excellent for activities. 6. Overall - We loved the resort, it offered us exactly what we were looking for. Great food, great service, great location. The resort is MASSIVE - there are a lot of rooms and a lot of staff and a lot of people, so bear that in mind. We will for sure be back, it is great for couples, great for families and great for kids. The fireworks on Fridays are spectacular.

I just had the worst Hilton experience ever at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort (Due to safety concerns, even had to cancel el part of my stay), and I’ve stayed at many top tier Hiltons (4 and 5 star hotels/resorts) around the world. To name a few, Trafalgar St James London Curio Collection by Hilton, Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas, Sable at Navy Pier Chicago Curio Collection by Hilton, Hilton Midtown NYC, and many more… At first, I overlooked the very dated and dirty room that we were given. At checkin, as a diamond member, they upgraded me from a standard King Room, to a “Junior suite lagoon view with partial ocean view”. The carpet and furniture were heavily stained/corrupted, but I was in beautiful Hawaii, and would be spending little time in my room and was willing to overlook it… However, even with my optimism, by the second day our stay took a horrible turn. The staff at the resort went on strike and began protesting/rioting around the resort at all hours. Yes, even at night they were blocking roads, shouting and yelling that they need more money. There was no peace or relaxation to be found… we could hear them chanting from the balcony, around the pool, on the beach…. Idk how much Hilton’s pays them but their employees ruined their customers vacations… also, mind you, while they were striking (the last few days of my stay) customer service and multiple services ceased to exist…. The room went uncleaned and unstocked. We had to grab our own towels from the linen cart, hot breakfast was no longer offered at the wiki wiki mart (restaurant and convenient store onsite), check out services were no longer available, speaking with anyone at the front desk was nearly impossible. But the experience got worse, valet was no longer offered… we had to find our own car in their parking garage… with no one to help us… we ended up searching the parking deck and being late/missing our time for our Kualoa Ranch Jurassic Park excursion. We spent over an hour trying to find our car and trying to get an employee to help us. Once we finally found our car…. Employees were marching around and blocking the roads and intersections around the Hilton parking garage. It was insane!!! Like something out of a movie. Very scary to experience first hand… it was clear these employees did not care about their customers or the customers experience. We customers paid either thousands of dollars and/or thousands of points to stay there, we should have been given the excellent experience top tier Hilton resorts are known for, not feel trapped or threatened. It felt like I was living in a Horror or suspense film. So, their strike caused us to miss out on reservations… hindered us from relaxing or enjoying our time…. But what’s worse… is my Hilton Amex card kept getting random charges the first few days of our stay…. I was finally able to confront/find an analytics manager at the resort (come to find out she couldn’t do anything, she didn’t have access to their system). Stacy was her name and she was one of the few employees working, the hotel basically had her there to show face…. Anyway, she said, she had no way to know what those charges were and if I didn’t make those charges, then I needed to report them as fraud to my Hilton credit card… so, while being stuck at a hell house of a resort with few services offered and ppl protesting everywhere, I had to freeze my credit card bc it seems an employee was using it to charge random purchases around the resort. There were too many issues from the strike of the employees at this hotel to list. We ended our Hawaii trip at Disney’s Aulani resort. We highly recommend that over this and I’m usually a die hard Hilton fan.
