Stayed at the Hawaiian village for 3 weeks, and tapa was the most annoying bar or restaurant. Sat over ten minutes at the bar the first day and didn’t even get acknowledged with 4 people behind the counter. So I Just walked away.

Came back another night in the mood for a drink, sat at the bar and ended up having a running conversation with wife making fun of the bar again not acknowledging me. Making sure I didn’t come fixated to my phone, I raised my hand, stood up, tried making eye contact, nothing, these guys were seemingly intentionally ignore the patrons. Looking down maintaining tunnel vision on their tasks instead of looking around observing the bar. I could have literally spiked every drink, the bar tenders would have never known. (If you’ve had professional training you know what I’m talking about) Guy next to me joked he had walked to the bathroom and back while waiting for his to go box and still never got it in that time frame. He recommended not paying up front. Just when I finally thought I was going to get service, the guy walks past me to the girl who had literally walked up from pool less than 30 seconds prior. Old boy serves her then asks what I want and I told him nothing then he tells me I can’t sit at the bar if I’m not placing an order. Told him he didn’t seem to mind the last 15 mins I’ve been here then I just decided to walk away.

They do have a really hot habanero burger that’s good. Most their food is cafeteria grade at typical resort pricing.

Lastly, the bands play obnoxiously loud for the tiny venue. They play like they performing for all the pools on the property. We heard them every night until ten from the hotel room. That and the performers make all the cliche touristy comments, like they’re addressing a kindergarten class. Really cringy and maybe it works on 70 year olds and drunk 50 year olds, but of all the vacation sections I’ve been too, this...

I would give it 1 star but 1 employee shouldn't ruin a whole review. We sat at 8:55. At 9:10 I went to the bar to make sure you didn't order from the take out stand and then eat at the table. Bartender grabbed our waitress and told her we were waiting 15 minutes. 5 minutes later she still hadn't come by. So I asked the bartender to take our drinks order. He did. He grabbed her again. She then turned to me and said "you order drinks from me." I inturn responded. Yes I would have had you come. I will order my food and next drinks. She got mad and said be right back. 10 minutes later. Nothing. It's now 930. We have waters for kids and 2 Mai Tais.

The bartender yells over to see if I need another drink. I walked over and told him she never came back. He kindly took our food order and assisted our table. The music and he were great. The food was good. The kids were tired and we were staying at the hotel or we would have left long before. The table next to me sat and left 3 times. The other sat right after us and was told much later that the kitchen was closed. And never got to order. It was absurd. As we were leaving the waitress came over to grab the check receipt from her last table that left about 1.5 hours before complaining we didn't order from her. I made sure to let her know that we waited 35 minutes and asked for a manager. By then the place was closing and none was present. Awful experience from a place that could be great.

It was the same waitress for all the tables. I also texted hilton chat for help but they were no help. Terrible...

So to sit outside in a shaded area with the sweet breeze of Waikiki air blowing by is wonderful. They have tvs on with great sports, for those of us who love sports, this is one of the few places you can go to see them. For those who don’t? Don’t worry! There is beautiful music playing in the background and lots of people around to converse with should you choose. The food is “meh”, nothing to write home about, but still better than fast food and super close to all the shopping and center of the village. The birds are ruthless and will steal the food right off your table. It’s an island, we deal with it right? The service was mediocre, it took my server 4 times to bring me what I ordered. The first 3 times she just didn’t pay attention to detail and realize she was bringing what I ordered. I felt bad for having to keep reminding her of what I ordered. Maybe she is over worked, or understaffed, or just having an “off” day, but it definitely wasn’t a great first impression. There is trash all over the floor, and no employees picking it up as they step over it. Even I pick up trash on the ground that isn’t mine and put it in a can. Anyway. Great of you want a cocktail and sports, not so great if you want to eat food in clean and without harassment...

I spent an afternoon chilling here, then again, live music on Friday night after the fireworks. It was soooooo good, I lost my voice from screaming 😱 such high quality R & B live music performance. There is a big black guy pulling girls from the audience to dance with him. It was very cute and added to the atmosphere. Everyone was vibing! Apparently there is live music every night from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. We bought cocktail drinks for $9 -$12 each. I'm very happy with this open bar. It's one of my best Hawaiian experiences so far. The Hilton Hawaii Village is worth exploring. Many shops give Ferrero chocolates by their door to lure tourists into their shop, some offer free facials, and full makeup makeovers. If we weren't beelining for the beach, we would have taken up on their offer. The hilton staff were holding a strike right outside, so the sound of their strike chants were loud and disturbing, and so was the banging of gong that went on and on. I hope they have that solved soon. This bar also had a healthy free wifi signal, which I was very grateful for.

This was absolutely my first major disappointment on the Island of Oahu! Needed something quick and close. I ordered 2 burgers each with fries (an extra $12.00) and a large meat pizza. The pizza was $26.00 and it was nothing more than a $2.99 Jacks pizza that had been heated up with the same salty / flour powder on the crust! Literally, as seen in my picture, this “large” pizza was no bigger than my hand! The burgers used the same technique as White Castle burgers, even same flavors. The cheese was plastic over the top. I ordered it “loaded” and not one topping. No lettuce, no tomato, no onion, nothing but a pickle spear. The meat did have flavor to it, it was close by, and the staff was friendly, which is why I gave it a 2, but we won’t be eating here again.
