I definitely hope that the Ilikai renovates the mauka side timeshare rooms fast. They're pretty dated and in need of a good overhaul. We traded RCI points to stay here. Bellmen with the luggage racks are not employed by the hotel and they charge $5 per bag to bring up to your room. It's going to sound like a lot of complaints but we also pay like $1,500 a year in timeshare maintenance fees so *shrug.* Hallways are not air-conditioned. They are absolutely sweltering. We stayed in room 2013. This is by far the smallest timeshare kitchen I've ever had, with only 3 lower cabinets that had a strong, musty smell. There is no dishwasher nor disposal, nor ventilation system. Our neighbors were up cooking every day at 5 AM and we could smell it. I kept waking up thinking I had left the stove on - nope, just people cooking without ventilation. There is also some nasty looking hatch next to the stove for what I'm assuming is electrical. Per the photos, it's unappetizing. The hot water was barely lukewarm, even after getting a notification that the hot water was being turned off on a certain day due to maintenance issues. Even afterward, the shower never got hot enough for there to be steam in the bathroom. They also still use single use plastic bottles of shampoo, so you need like 5 of them to get a tablespoon or two of shampoo out. It's super annoying because there is no ledge in the shower, just a single porcelain soap dish, so you have to store all these tiny bottles on the floor. I also noticed some mold on the caulking. Pool ran out of towels and is pretty old looking. It definitely needs a refresh. You aren't allowed to use the fitness center if you're renting a timeshare, which is odd. There is 1 show / activity at the resort on Fridays - a hula show. It's under the tree in the center of the courtyard and there is no stage. Because there is no stage, if you're not in the very front row, you can't see anything. The good: super convenient location next to Hilton Hawaiian Village so you will have a prime on the deck to watch the free Aloha Fridays firework show. The lobby area and courtyard are also super pretty. The elevators are also pretty fast. I stayed here for 7 nights in September 2024.

RUN!! DO NOT STAY HERE !!! Our experience at the Ilikai was solely ruined by the elevator situation. Our first day involved the elevators not working. We booked an airbnb and was located on the 15 floor. We are a family of 5 with three small children. The only means of getting to our room was by taking a narrow emergency stairwell. This was congested by other guests who were trying to move around in the hotel. I had to carry up and down the stairs two suitcases (fully packed) and a stroller. This in its self should have been a red flag to find a new hotel. But we were told that the situation was being rectified by hotel management. Temporary solution in place involved a single generator, and after day three of our stay… security was in place mitigating the hotel guests usage of the elevators. The solution was to limit the number of people to seven per each elevator. At most there were three semi functional elevators. And semi meaning some stoppage at random floors and bouncing. This did not help the elevator situation since they were long lineups and cues to get up from the main floor to the appropriate floor for guests. Also, if the elevators were full- we had to wait. After 20 minutes of waiting many times to go down from the 15 floor to the main level we were forced to take the stairs. Again dragging our three kids. We did contact our Airbnb host and he was aware of the situation at the hotel. We are quite disappointed with our host and the hotel with the lack of transparency with the issues of this hotel. Hotel is great because it’s close to the mall and the beach. Other than that this hotel is falling apart and no one is doing anything about it. I feel this situation there was zero accountability from the hotel in regards with safety. And as for our host, greed was in the forefront…zero concern for the safety or experience for his guests.

We stayed in a condo .. perfect spot , perfect views lots of food and stores on lobby level along with 2 pools and great seating for relaxing . No issues with really long wait for elevator but be patient if it’s busy … will most likely come back

The hotel was nice. They gave some "freebies" like a mai tai, ice cream, and waters. The only thing was the room wasn't exactly as pictured/described. There was not a full-size refrigerator or 4 burner stovetop (which wasn't an issue for me). What was an unpleasant surprise was that the shower had glass that you could see through from/to the bed, and the door to the toilet was not solid (louvered). It was a little too intimate for the night I had a friend stay over, but we worked it out. The views were nice from the 24th floor. It's not right on the beach, but it's a short walk.
