Booked a private boat charter with Steve of Kona Star for mother in law's 60th birthday. We booked two hours (3-5pm). The boat was very easy to find. We met Steve the owner and Steve the boat driver, both were super friendly and accommodating. The boat itself is very large, spacious, clean - the floors were remodeled in a non-slip material. Steve gave us a very nice tour on the drive out, detailing the history of Honolulu, which my in-laws really really loved. We stopped at a scenic spot out in the ocean with Diamond Head in the background, and got out to swim for a little bit. They had snacks for us after our swim. My kid loved the watermelon and pineapple that they cut up for us. They had all kinds of snacks available - sandwiches, cookies, chips, drinks, fruit, veggies, and cheese and crackers. On a separate note, my son had a brief meltdown after we took him out of the ocean, and Steve offered to hold him, which immediately calmed him down. My MIL is also deathly scared of boats, but she loved every second of this boat trip. Thank you so much to Steve and Steve for making her 60th birthday boat trip extra extra special. Definitely recommend Steve and...
Read moreWhale Done, Ocean Adventures! Went out with Ocean Adventures on a Wednesday January, and let me tell you, this wasnât just a boat ride, it was a floating whale party.
We saw SO many whales I half-expected one of them to hop on the boat and start serving drinks. We literally saw whales the entire time.
If youâre even thinking about booking Ocean Adventures, do it. It was like Mother Nature, the Navy, and the Air Force teamed up to put on a show. Not only did we see tons of humpback whales, but we also spotted a nuclear submarine, watched pilots steer a massive freighter into Honolulu, and had F-22s zipping overhead. I mean, what more do you want?
Captain Marcus kept everything running smoothly while Steve gave us a full TED Talk on humpbacks. Hannah, whoâs also a captain herself, was a whale spotting pro, pointing out every splash and tail slap before we even saw them.
Oh, and the snacks? Fresh fruit and treats that made it feel like a mini five-star experience at sea. The boat was intimate and perfectly sized to make us feel like VIPs.
Whales, snacks, subs, freighters, fighter jetsâwhat more could you ask for? Book it now and...
Read moreMy family and I toured with Ocean Adventures during the morning coffee cruise in mid-June. What a wonderful trip with Steve (the boat owner) and Tony (the captain). We previously had called Steve asking about the best time to see spinner dolphins. This was a special request by our daughter. Steve recommended the morning cruise as the best chance to see them, but he could not provide any guarantees. His recommendation and our experience did not disappoint as we were rewarded with a school of over 40 dolphins. We also got to see a sea turtle earlier that day. Steve and Tony were excellent hosts and took care of all of our needs. It was optional, but Steve also provided a brief history lesson of the area which we appreciated. The adventure leaves from the same Waikīkī harbor as the television show Gillian's Island, but this one is only a 2 hour tour. No desert islands here, and a much better experience. :) I cannot recommend Ocean Adventures enough. If you are wanting to experience Honolulu and Diamond Head in a more unique way, make sure you go with...
