Ilikai Marina Condos — Local services in Honolulu

Great views, location to activities/food, and amazing staff. The rooms are clean and there is a well equiped kitchen. Very easy to walk to the beach or the malls (especially Ala Moana!!). The shops in the lobby are reasonable, considering that everything in Hawaii is expensive already. The ABC store across the street is the best for essentials amd convenience/grocery store items. We got a notice that someone on our floor (not us) was smoking. $250 per person per incident. Great enforcement to keep the area clean and smelling fresh. I would for sure come back again. Overall great experience.

The cons: Our room had a broken outlet and hair dryer. Maintenance came the next day; no same day solutions. Our room had pretty dim lighting inside. During the day it's no problem, but at night it's hard to do anything. Watching TV and taking pictures/video in the room is difficult with the poor lighting. Our friend's room had the same issues. The lower part of the bedframe where the mattress sits is sharp and protrudes out. We were constantly tripping on the edges and hitting our shins. This was present in both rooms. During midday, the elevators are sooooo slooooow. With 25 floors, the elevators stop frequently and get backlogged. Even with 5, it's a disaster. The lower floor shows that some of the elevators are out of order. Sometimes the wait can be 15+ minutes. There are stairs that you can use, which I recommend for mid level floors. These are marked as fire escape. You CAN open these doors, just don't leave them open. Otherwise on the sides, you can take the bathers elevator or the one in the trash room. I recently went to ilikai marina condos in Hawaii (December 23rd December 30) we stayed in condo 642 and I have to say it was awful the building was built in the 1960s and unfortunately the bathroom and kitchen where probably still the same ones they need a renovation gut job they were dirty paint flaking off kitchen cupboards on opening draws they smelt fusty the shower has a 2 foot tiled wall to climb over either way and the shower faucet was only around 5 foot 5 in height baseboards were dirty and had paint peeling off the kitchen stove had 4 cooking rings on it and only one worked but I would not of wanted to cook in the kitchen even if I was starving, The rest of the hotel was nice clean as described in on line reviews, we only booked a room with a kitchenette to save money on eating out which did not happen we paid a lot of money for this holiday probably more than normal as it was Christmas week and because of the horrible room it did not meet our expectations please dont let any more of your costumers have the displeasure of staying in this room until it has a major gut job, we didn't bring this up with any hotel staff as they where not open for the first 4 days of our holiday due to the Christmas break so for the last 3 days we just put up with it after paying $4500 for a 7 night stay its fair to say we are very...

We rented 788. It is small and I new that when we rented. That is just fine. We have rented many VRBO'S and air b and b's. This is the worst place I have ever been in. Where do i start....okay the fridge sounds a lot like when we were sitting in the 737 jet getting ready to take off. The AC has a drip sound that I can only imagine was used a a Chinese torcher. It just drips and drips all through the night. The toilet must have a small leak as it refills several times through the night...and when it does you will hear it. The place is small (I know I said that) but it has furniture that would look big in alarge house, not a one bedroom apartment. I was constantly banging into all the furniture. I could not move around without banging into a table or chair. Really who needs 6 bar stools and a table in a Batchelor suit. The balcony has two patio chairs and a table....I had to remove a chair to go out on to the balcony. Seriously people get rid of some furniture.... it's only ever going to be two people. Also (which is out of the owners control) you can hear everything from the condos around you....from the sliding doors to the people talking. So to conclude, the unit has nothing to offer in the form of amenities....getting a hotel would be better equipped. Do not rent this place. It should have never been...
