Although it’s not much to look at from outside, we had a great visit. Our room was comfortable and clean, our meal excellent, and the charm of a historic building made the whole thing a bit of an adventure. When we checked in, they mentioned the bathrooms were slated to be renovated next year, if finances post-COVID allowed; we found our bathroom was clean and functional, just dated. The staircase may be a bit tricky for some, because it’s a historic building, but take it slow with your luggage and you’ll be ok. For folks who may have trouble with the stairs, there is a chair lift. They’re currently renovating the roof, which meant the outside seating around the river wasn’t available, but it sure looked lovely.

The outside is run down. The "mom and pop" owners don't believe in taking out loans to renovate, so they upgrade one step at a time. If you can get over the looks of the outside, the inside is a neat little step back in time. The room was bright. (Allergy alert* old building: must, dust, dust mites). Sweet little lady!

Customers beware, worst service I've experienced in a long time, ordered a meal, after a 1.5hr we were still wait ,no service then wanted to charge for a small salad and a coke.

As a former member of the board of Rocky Historic Hotels of the Rocky Mountains West and presently a travel writer focused primarily on historic hotels, I find this property does not represent historic in any way shape or form. This hotel is just old. ||||Upon our arrival we entered a musty-smelling lobby with no one in attendance. We waited and waited until a gracious wait staff member from the restaurant came to the front desk and, when unable to find any member of management, she assisted us in check-in. We found the trip up the dangerous staircase to our room was treacherous at best. ||||Entering our room, we found the headboard that was shown in their photo array but that was about it. The room was so small it was difficult to walk around in the room because the bed took up 80% of the small hotel room space. ||||We found the wiring to be precarious, if not outright dangerous. The bathroom was in poor condition with mold around the tub that was sickening. And old air conditioner was mounted in the window with cracked glass and wired and a very dangerous mesh of chords. The wallpaper is literally falling off the walls.||||There is a huge difference between an historic property and a pitiful old property. I would be remiss as a guest at the Braun Hotel if I did not inform potential visitors that this hotel is substandard at best and dangerous at least.|||| I respect the opinion of those who find turn-of-the-century properties charming. ||I understand there id something unique about the experience. However, there is a huge difference between historic hotels with pleasant surroundings and atmosphere as opposed to being surrounded by a dangerous and unhealthy environment.||||The photos show what they promote and the reality of the experience of their guests....

We were greeted immediately as we walked in by Dan, who I believe is the chef, or works in the kitchen. Super friendly and nice. We got a room with two beds - the beds are HUGE. Old, funky hotel - really interesting character and it's definitely not "modern," but it's far more interesting than your average chain hotel. Totally affordable and love the location. You can easily walk right downtown and enjoy the town. Whenever we're back in the area we will be staying here! There isn't breakfast but the cafe down the street is awesome. If you're lucky enough to stay here when Melissa is working, she's the best. Great staff.

We decided to have dinner here as well, despite some negative reviews on Yelp. The restaurant was definitely understaffed but all you need to have is a little bit of patience and a good attitude. Our dinner was a killer experience. It took a few minutes to get our bottle of wine, granted... but once we had that, we ordered up an appetizer and it got to us in about 10 minutes. It did take 50 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we got our meals but we spent it happily drinking wine and enjoying the gorgeous night on the patio, eating the appetizer and soaking it all in. A fabulous, leisurely evening. And to have a bottle of red wine, an appetizer and two very tasty filet mignon dishes for $55... it...
