Basque Block — Attraction in Idaho

I was born and raised here, but I moved away and I am just visiting, so my bf and I wanted to try a Basque restaurant and this was on the list. We've nevered has Basque food before, so this was def a place we wanted to try out. We walked in, with no reservation and we got seated immediately. The hostess asked if we wanted to do the dining room or bar, and we chose the bar and it was a good atmosphere to walk into. It was super crowded and the bar looks nice. Our server was Elena and she was lovely. She did a great job with recommendations and checked in with us to make sure everything we ordered was good.

This is a very cozy, yet lively, place for families and adults alike. The plethora of information and cultural value to be found is astounding and weaves through the museum, a Baserri style cultural center complete with a pelota court and regular games, the historical Basque boarding house and archaeological site, the Basque market, and Bar Gernika. There are also traditional Basque festivals and events held by the local Basque community here all year round, which are open to all and an absolute blast to attend, as well as a beautiful Basque country oak sapling from the tree of Gernika itself. We tried Leuka Ona for lunch. Pure heaven! Please try all the appetizers. The chorizo is smokey, the croquetas were creamy and delicious with the sauce and onions, and the patatas were smothered in cream and spice. My son got the lamb burger with goat cheese-superb! I had the Leuka salad, with so many olives-lavish. Also, the wine--plumby lusciousness.
