My husband and some work friends were all celebrating their three year anniversary with their company and we decided to go to The Reef for dinner because they all get BOGO entrees through work. We all decided to meet at 8:30 for dinner, but some people were late so we didn't even order until almost 9:00. The food took a little long to come, but once it did come everyone was happy and all the food was delicious. We had noticed that it was very empty in the restaurant, but figured it was just a slow Tuesday night. Our waiter was very attentive; he brought multiple refills for our drinks and extra fry sauce, etc. When we were done eating, he brought us a dessert menu and waited several minutes for us to make up our minds about dessert. We decided against it and when our waiter brought us the bill he even did some finagling to help us get our side of fries for free by combining them on a separate check with our friends' appetizer. We were discussing if we should stay and talk for a while when I asked, "when do they close?" We checked on our phones and we were all horrified to discover that the restaurant closed at 9:00 and we had kept the staff there over an hour past closing! Suddenly the food taking so long to come and the empty restaurant all made sense! We all felt terrible and immediately began to apologize and pack our stuff up, and the staff were all so kind, telling us not to worry about it, that it was no big deal, etc. Our waiter had mentioned before our meal that he was going to ride his bike home and it was raining- I can't imagine how annoyed he must have been about riding his bike home an hour and a half past close in the dark and rain! But you never would have guessed that he was anything but happy to have us there. We were so pleased with the quality of the food but especially with the professionalism and quality of the staff. We're sorry for being such bozos but we will be returning for sure in the future- and you better believe next time we'll be...
Read moreWe have never been to the Reef until Saturday the 29th, my wife was able To call in and schedule a party. Kenzie helped her book the private room for her best friends 50th birthday, the room holds up to 30 people, it was so nice to be able to have an area where we could all move around and visit with everyone. My wife discussed with her about the details on how she wanted everyone to arrive before us, And how when we showed up we wanted it to be tina party of three. Walking in, the blown glass theme up the stairs and through out the restaurant is gorgeous. The restaurant allows for children to be there. Anyways Kenzie walked us back to the room and the surprise party was a complete success, if it wasn’t for Kenzie and staff this party wouldn’t have been as good. Our waiter was Kobe, he was incredible as well. Friendly, fast paced and just an amazing waiter to put up with our crazy shenanigans. The drinks and food were so very good, we will definitely be back for sure! We were even able to bring our custom birthday cake, 5 dozen roses, presents and party horns. We will definitely need to schedule more parties there! I was so beyond happy the surprise party went off without one single problem, and like I said the staff were all so incredible and friendly!!! 100/10- if you’re trying to decide if you should go there —— DOOOOO IT! If I had any complaints it would be, don’t order the jalepeno margarita if you don’t like pickled jalapeños, I really don’t like anything pickled but my body really really enjoyed it, said it wasn’t too spicy, so it’s good, just as long as you like pickled. But seriously that’s just a personal preference thing, when I told Kobe it helped me find a better drink and my gosh the huckleberry mojito is so damn good!! Birthday girl and a signature cocktail, it is not for the light at heart - prepare for a good...
Read moreDecided to try the nachos here after hearing how good they are, and what a mistake that was. We told the waiter we had never been there before and wanted to try the nachos, he never told us how big the nachos were so we were very surprised at how big they were when they came to our table. We could have split the nachos and just got one instead of two for half of the cost.
Once we started eating the nachos, we realized that the cheese was burnt. The cheese couldn't be pulled apart and was hard, brown, and crusty. One of us decided to lift up the chips and see if there was any toppings on the other layers of chips, but the only thing that was found was pools and pools of oil. Every chip, especially the ones towards the bottom are so wet with oil that they're soggy, creating literal pools of oil at the bottom of the plate. We also paid extra money for ground beef to be on the chips, but no ground beef was to be found on either order of nachos.
When this was pointed out, a manager came to take our plates to "get a second opinion from the kitchen". After waiting 10 minutes we decided to stand up where the waiter told us the manager was never coming back to talk to us and that he didn't care. We had to pay the full bill, despite our disappointment and problems with the food.
The manager decided to seat himself with a group of people that he was friends with, where he sat and had a few drinks with them. Pretty odd thing to do while on the clock if you ask me.
If you like paying extra money for extra toppings and then not getting them, and like extremely oily chips that create literal pools of oil at the bottom of your plate then I guess you'd enjoy the...
