I have been to a couple of events at the Egyptian, and have had a generally good experience, until recently. That is why this review is 2 stars, instead of 1. My wife and I purchased tickets to an event on April 22nd, 2017, and the tickets were for the orchestra (lower, floor) section. The tickets were sold with the option for either the orchestra, or the upper balcony sections. When we arrived, the orchestra section was full and we were forced to sit in the upper balcony section. What bothered me the most about this was that the staff was not checking tickets to verify the purchased section. It is highly likely that attendees who purchased balcony tickets moved into the lower section when this was realized; hence the reason it was full, and balcony seats were available.
The ticket prices were the same regardless of which section you purchased, but that isn't important. What really matters is that I spent the time and effort to ensure that I purchased the orchestra tickets, prior to them selling out. The end result was disappointing. My wife and I were excited to have good seats, but ended up with seats that were less than what was promised.
There were at least 10 other people that experienced the same issue, and I hope they write a review. The people in charge need to know that this issue could have been avoided with simple modifications to policy.
In closing; I would like to add that the manager on duty was very professional, and did everything he could to help resolve my complaint, as well as the complaints of several other attendees. He was a great representative of what customer service is all about. Unfortunately, that isn't enough, and I won't return to the Egyptian Theatre. This issue was disappointing, embarrassing, and I won't risk dealing...
Read moreWhen The Knitting Factory burned down my concert got relocated to The Egyptian Theater. It was a lovely facility. It was beautiful and fun to look around and the seats were comfortable for at least 30 minutes before I started to shift around. The downsides were thus: the lights blinded the front 6 rows (at least) for the duration of all 3 musical acts - my concert buddy had a brutal headache by the time the main act started. (My headache set in later.) The "reserved seats" were totally useless when 200 nosebleed section tickets rushed to the front of the concert hall to stand, and non-reserved ticket holders grabbed more than a couple of the reserved seats which led to conflict for those of us who paid quite a bit more for our spots. Many of us who purchased adjacent seats were split up. Also, those of us who would have preferred to sit, including a much older crowd that paid for good seated seating, had to stand for the 2 hour performance because the group that rushed down to the front were permitted to stand there for the entire concert. (Thankfully the standing group were well behaved - it could have been much worse.) Getting in to the concert lacked some finesse, but that was mostly the fault of a much older facility and the 4 columns of hand-held metal-detectors at the door that slowed things down. There were also a lot of sound issues throughout the concert, but I have no way of knowing who was responsible for that. I hope I have the chance to come back and see an event here that was meant to be here - I suspect it would be a much more...
Read moreI've always loved it here. I have been coming here for years. It has so many fantastic memories with friends and family and just by myself. So many shows and performances and old movies. Also a wonderful spot in the heart of downtown Boise Idaho. Nostagically beautiful on the outside, but unfortunately as the years have gone by it is not being kept up and clean. It isn't the palace that I remember and that is why the 3 stars. I'm not against any person at all and do give money to those who need it, but every time I go when I'm standing in line it seems as if there are more pan handlers and they are aggressive which needs to be addressed by security. The inside is Beautiful. I love the balcony and the sound quality is superb. The movies are never crowded so that's a lovely time to relax. The seats are very uncomfortable and do need an upgrade. Let's keep this landmark going as it's history and we can get more fantastic performer's. I went to a long time friend of mines in May of this year who is the hardest working man in show business and his name was not even on the marquee which he didn't mind as he is very humble and comes to this city every tour. I believe every artist should have their name on the marquee for...
