I walked here with my toddler and infant one day for their "Alive after 5" live music event on Wednesdays from 5-8pm in the summer. We caught the beginning and the ending, but skipped out in the middle to go out to dinner. My toddler burned his feet on the hot brick pavers before we could enjoy the splash pad and that kind of ruined it for him. I would say that the fountain is better suited for older kids because it's basically a grid of spouts and they shoot up with a good deal of force. It was fun watching older kids play and when we returned at night, there were a lot more of them and they turned on some multicolored lights. We would've gotten a pint at the Deschutes Brewery pop up tent, but it was cash only and there was a line for the ATM and a line for the beer. Some people had set up plastic lawn chairs in the shade to sit and watch the music and when I crouched beside my stroller feeding the kids a snack, a nice, older man offered me his seat, saying that I had my hands full and that would be his good deed for the day. I was super grateful after walking with them for nearly the whole day. People in Boise are so friendly! I thought the businesses surrounding the Grove Plaza were a little generic franchise type places, so we ate elsewhere. When we came back, one of the restaurants was blasting commercial pop music so loud, I don't know how anyone could have stayed to eat there. I found it super annoying, but they were obviously trying to cater to a...
Read moreHotel for the most part was fine, was there over the weekend for Anime Oasis and it was a fun time.
However I can not recommend it because of the pool/gym area. The people running it are 'independly owned' and have a tile after 6 it is 18+. That however is not the problem. The problem is that they let kids run around naked, un punished durning normal hours, they made up a rule on the fly of people have to be acomponed by someone over 21 when they have sighs ALL over saying 'kids under 18 must be acomponed by an adult'. Not only that but when we asked if he could scrub our faces off in their bathroom they flatly said 'no you have to do it upstairs.' Even after us asking nicely. When we came back clean and ready the girl at the counter asked us, rudely, 'thank hair dye is permanent right? You guys won't be getting dye in MY pool right?'
Hotel beds aren't the greatest, but they aren't horrible.
Plenty of space for people, we had 4 people in our room, didn't have too much of a problem.
I wouldnt even give a star if I...
Read moreExcellent location for quick access to downtown amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was not too impressed with the rooms, they were basic and very loud with street noise making it difficult to sleep at night. The swimming pool was a lap pool that allowed non hotel guests access ( membership ) so the kids had a hard time swimming without getting in the way.
Overall it's a nice hotel but it does not give the luxury hotel feel that...
