Citrus County Tax Collector — Local services in Inverness

Waited 3 and a half hours!!! A few ladies were in a hurry to do their job. But one I know didn't mind standing around talking while elderly and disabled people sat and waited in pain that grew by the hour and then minute. I know because after 3 hours I was in a lot of pain!!! If all the ladies cared like the few that I saw that wanted to do their job and get people out the door , then there wouldn't of been so many people falling a sleep in their chairs and in so much pain that it wasn't even worth the wait any more. And most were nice but a few were not. Still recovering from the long wait! I guess the lady that didn't mind talking and holding up the few that were trying to hurry, if she had health issues and a lot of pain to deal with, I bet she would wish someone would care about her like the few ladies that actually wanted to help and were friendly and did their job to the best of their ability , even though the one lady was always trying to stop them in their tracks for some office gossip , and hopefully the one lady who was in no hurry to help , I hope you don't find yourself in need , like what if your doctor or the Emergency room people had your attitude when you came in and needed their help? I guess you would be SOL if you were having a heart attack but your doctor ya know he has better things to do like walk around and talk and no big hurry to help save your life, yes the world would be a messed up place if everyone had your attitude, but luckily for you they don't ! just saying , not like your going to start caring now lol but still it would suck to be you if that...

My visit today to the Janice Warren run Citrus County Tax Collectors Office in Inverness was appalling. There is clearly a lack of leadership for which the staff and citizens of Citrus County are forced to endure. The lobby was packed beyond capacity with no plan to mitigate a residents wait time. The clerk at the desk was trying her best and is not to blame for what she estimated would be a three plus hour wait time. This is unacceptable and someone with the skills and abilities to innovate this agency needs to be hired immediately. Having been in Tax Collectors Offices in other Florida counties that service larger populations, I can attest this function of government can be better managed and improved upon. No resident or guest that needs the services this office provides should have to encounter such poor performance...

Went in on a Tuesday to register a trailer. Line to check in was out the door. Woman at the check in counter has WAY too much to do. She left her desk a number of times to ask questions while I was in line. Person helping me with registration bragged that it took less than 20 minutes for me to be called..yeah right! It was another 30 minutes just to check in but they do not count that. Woman helping initially entered wrong zip code and put me in a county with a higher tax rate, 7% instead of 6%. Said she caught it and fixed it. Got home and tooka good look and I was charged 7%! I am retired on a fixed income and $40.00 bucks is a lot these days. Tried to fix it this morning with no luck.
