The Mississippi Farmers Market in Jackson is truly an early Saturday tradition worth keeping. Every weekend, the market comes alive with the sounds of conversation, laughter, and the smell of fresh produce. From farm-fresh eggs and vibrant greens to sweet fruit and jars of pure honey, it’s a showcase of Mississippi’s best homegrown offerings. Beyond produce, the market features an impressive variety of vendors selling handmade trinkets, colorful quilts, rustic pottery, and soothing organic balms and oils. One of the highlights for me is exploring the tables filled with unique treats like pecan candy, creamy cheesecake jars, and tangy or kool-Aid homemade pickles. My personal favorite vendor is Rubie’s Daughter Homemade Creations, owned by Tonza Deberry. Her handcrafted products capture the warm, homemade spirit that defines this market. Prices range from reasonable to a bit pricey, but every purchase feels worthwhile knowing it supports local farmers, small businesses, and the community as a whole. The market isn’t just a place to shop, it’s a place to connect, taste, and experience the culture of Mississippi. Whether you’re hunting for fresh food or a handcrafted gift, the Mississippi Farmers Market offers something special every Saturday morning. Lastly, don’t forget to enjoy the country breakfast or lunch at the Farmers...

Everyone I spoke with, buying or not, brought out our state's southern hospitality- felt like I was shopping at home without the Wi-Fi. I bought bacon, sourdough, zuccini, squash, tomatoes, figs, plums and peaches. This cost me around $50. This was worth every penny for the quality and amount I received. Personally, I give 5 stars just for Ellis Farms having figs. Please get out of bed one morning and support local artists and farmers from all over Ms. Because you can't buy figs at Kroger. And you can't buy homemade crochet at any toy store. I recommend having an extra pair of hands as there are no baskets or carts. If I had an extra hand I would have added watermelon to the list! There are no photos but the memories in my experience. They wouldn't capture the smells of fresh produce, happy chatter, and not near as much as what I saw today. Can't wait to go again 😊 (I went to pay for a $5 loaf of sourdough and found I only had $4- the man said he'd take what I had but I pulled out another $20. I was only there an hour and have several more small stories of...

While I love our farmers market and the fresh produce I can get there, I'm disappointed in their lax attitude to social distancing. They have moved the market back inside, and put vendors back in the middle of the isles. They dont have a mask policy, and many vendors are not wearing masks. Having at risk family in my house, I find the farmers market less safe than I'd...
