I came here with some friends last night for pride and the vibe was amazing, the DJ was so good and my only issue is the bartender that was there. I had started a tab and I ordered a screwdriver, I was drinking my drink for a while and I noticed that someone next was given my card when they asked to close their tab (my card has a big white stickers on it so it’s not hard to spot) that person let the bartender know that it wasn’t their card and she just threw it onto the counter and left it there for a while, I had to ask her 3 different times to close my tab and give me back my card. When I got my card back I had a tab of 95 dollars and I only had ordered the one drink. When I tried to explain this to her she said there was nothing that she could do because there was no manager there. She said I would have to call the next day to try and explain the situation to see if i could get a refund. After a bit of back and forth with her I decided that I was getting nowhere and I was just going to call the next day. At the end of the night my friend went to go close his tab and his card was moved around from the front of the bar to the complete other side so he wasn’t even sure if his tab was handled right but that’s another issue. When I was leaving I went to talk to the girl who charged me the 95 and she was extremely drunk and not helpful, thankfully another bartender came over to see what the situation was and she tried to tell him that it was nothing and that she would handle it but he told her to stop and asked me what the problem was and after explaining it to him he told me he was a manager there and he refunded me the 95 with no problem. I understand that problems happen but the bartender shouldn’t be getting drunk enough to barely speak/try to handle the situation correctly. The guy that helped me was there from the beginning of the night so she could’ve called him when the situation came up but she didn’t. Other than the bartender my night was amazing, I would recommend coming her but definitely dont keep a tab open or go to a bartender that isn’t drinking the...
Read moreThis whole situation has been nothing short of disturbing. I was assaulted inside this club in January, and instead of support or accountability, I was met with silence. This is after multiple calls and emails to the establishment. For a whole week, I heard nothing back. So I left reviews explaining what happened, honest ones!! That’s when the manager finally reached out, admitted the security guard escalated the situation unnecessarily, and even told me he was going to speak to him about his behavior. He said he felt that when he spoke to me he appreciated how calm and respectful I was and that he felt like we were having a genuine conversation and making progress. He even offered to put me on a mailing list to get me a merch shirt to replace the one that was stolen in the incident. He then encouraged me to come back and give them another shot. So I did, and what happened? I got banned at the door!!! Mind you, I came back back 2 times without issue but for some reason I’m banned tonight. The same manager (JP) suddenly tells me I “made a scene” and brought up the reviews I left. Hmmm… why do you think the reviews were brought up now when this is something he never had an issue with when we spoke on the phone? I know why, this is reprisal. It was a complete 180°. Let’s call it what it is: this is blatant retaliation for me speaking up about being mistreated and leaving reviews for being ignored for over a week. They wanted me to forget about it and let it go but because I spoke up, I put a target on my back. I don’t regret it now because this is proof he never cared about resolving anything—he just wanted to save face. No real accountability. No transparency. Didn’t ask me to rethink my review. I was assaulted, gaslit, and then silenced. If you care at all about your safety, dignity, or being treated like a person, stay far away...
Read moreTypical Saturday nightlife-type crowd and the staff seemed easygoing and worthy hosts. A few minor miscues with information sharing among the staff. For example, when we checked our coats, we asked the attendant about exploring the 3 different levels since it was our first visit. No problem we were told then she instructed us to go through a black door without signage, which led to an unlit passageway near the kitchen before opening another unmarked black door bringing us to the 2nd level. No big deal except when we were ready to leave and told by staff on that floor that there was no way customers could return through said passageway for our coats. We were told (pretty adamantly) that the only way we could retrieve our coats was to go out that level’s exit onto Newark Ave and walk around to the Christopher Columbus entrance (the lounge’s address & initial entrance we used earlier). Sounds needlessly complicated and we refused to go out without our coats PERIOD. The awkward “standoff” lasted a couple minutes before a server relented and allowed us to retrace our darkened passageway back to level 1’s Christopher Columbus AKA the coatcheck entrance etc... Not a deal breaker by no means and it took longer to explain the situation then it was for us to resolve it. JUST A HEADS UP SO OTHERS DONT REPEAT THIS MISCUE. I didn’t get to check out the rooftop feature that attracted me to checking this place out originally but it’s The first weekend in March—cold, snowy blah blah. Will definitely be back!
You stayed with me this long, this novella has a happy ending. Bartender service was excellent. The guy was friendly and treated patrons well. I tipped him accordingly. And the appetizers smelled delish! NEXT TIME WILL DEFINITELY TRY THE FOOD. Dancing and drink were this first night’s objective. So we felt...
