My partner arrived home last night with a cake for my birthday. I was handling all the grocery and mistakenly placed the cake in the fridge. This morning it was all melted. He said it was an ice cream cake. So I saw the mistake Iāve made and drove back to the store today to see if we could salvage it or buy a new one at a discounted price if they were kind enough to help out, but as we got there we realized that many of the cake boxes have a āKEEP FROZENā sign on them. It just hit me that this is the most logical and coherent thing to do for a product that looks a lot like a cake but itās actually an ice cream! Exactly what responsible companies worried about their customers would do. But they didnāt put a sign on our ācakeā so I, like probably other people whom didnāt buy the cake, mistakenly handled it as the product it appears to be. Even after bringing this up to management the best they could do was offer $2 off on a new profitable sale. Which we were willing to pay even full price if there could be nothing else to be done! But not after finding out that they acknowledge the need to put signs on their product and took no responsibility when they failed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDawn at Torico Ice Cream is amazing!!! She designed us the perfect ice cream wedding cake- it was everything we wanted and more! I called about 10 places in Monmouth and Ocean Counties before I found Torico. Every place told me a tiered cake was a "problem" and they couldn't do it. Until I found Dawn! From initially contacting her she was pleasant on the phone, she followed up, she sat with us while we decided on our flavors and mage suggestions. We had a picture and an idea of what we wanted and the cake came out better than we could have ever imaged and our guests loved it! We got married at the Bay Head Yacht Club- which is just over an hour from Jersey City with no traffic. It was worth the travel, Dawn came up with a solution with a dry ice bag, said the cakes would be fine and they were absolutely perfect! I have already told so many people about Torico and specifically Dawn for her cakes. Her passion shines through in what she does and it's a breath of fresh air. Thank you Dawn for making our experience wonderful and adding the perfect touch to our...

The quality of the ice cream remains the same as does the friendliness of the staff. However, the prices and size of the scoops is shameful relative to the prices. A single kiddie sized scoop (the equivalent of less than 1/2 cup of ice cream) costs $4.69. The regular size where you can get two flavors approaches $7. Years ago these prices yielded you a nice, joyfully-sized ice cream. Within the last year or so that has changed. Management seems to be enforcing smaller scoops and it shows. With lines stretching around the block most nights, I'm happy that there is no slowdown in their business, but inflation is pinching everyone and it is a shame that a treasured neighborhood ice cream spot is no longer the source of joy it once was. I always leave feeling sad rather than happy given the turn in the scoop to price ratio. Perhaps it is due to the passing of the original owner 3 years ago that things have...
