I have been going to this place for the past 2 years and occasionally tried some other barbers in the area. This barbershop feels premium, uses quality equipment, and is always clean. I like the ease of scheduling and availability. However, the haircuts can be a hit or a miss, sometimes perfect, sometimes too short, and sometimes subpar.
For my last 3 haircuts I have given the same instructions with the same photo and received 3 different haircuts. My recent haircut was quite disappointing, they cut my hair short even after insisting to preserve length. I feel like the results are highly variable and hard to rate this place. One constant thing in all of my haircuts is that they feel super rushed. My longest haircut lasted probably like 11 minutes and that was one of the better haircuts I have had. I feel like the barbers should ask more questions and make sure they are doing what the customer wants and not cutting hair short when people say "preserve length".
Additionally, since early 2021 the prices have gone up significantly. I believe in late 2020 to early 2021 a haircut was about $25-27 and now it is $40. Inflation is a thing but an inflation adjusted increase should be about 15-20% at about $33. Taking this into account, I tried Great Clips which is 2 minutes away from V's, and had slightly worse haircuts for $18.
My friends insist taking my business elsewhere like Balkan Barber and Virile (junior barbers are cheaper than V's) or maybe save some money and go to Great Clips. However, the rare but occasional perfect haircut is what brings me back to...
Read moreI've been debating whether or not to come here for the last few weeks. Lots of great reviews on the shop, but then some terrible experiences with 1 star reviews.
Decided to take the chance today, and I'm pleased with the results. The barber gave me exactly what I wanted, in and out within 10 minutes. He was efficient, professional, and proficient. Not sure if's worth the $28 sticker price, but I'm a pretty cheap guy.
I can echo one negative thing I read in other reviews: they aren't exactly jumping out of their chairs to greet you. I walked in and there was easily a 30 second pause (not exaggerating) before one of the barbers acknowledged me (despite there being two barbers sitting in chairs watching tv). But I can't complain too much, one of the available barbers seated me within a minute and had my haircut done in 10! So can't really complain much.
As for the other negative aspects mentioned (inexperienced, ripping you off, rude, not taking you, etc.), I didn't experience any of that. For the area, I feel like $28 is probably average market price for a haircut, so you can do a lot worse. Take a chance and try it out, I think the 1-star guys on here are being...
Read morelet me preface this by saying that I really wanted to like this barbershop. Being new to the area I needed to find barber and a place I can keep going back to. V's had mixed reviews on here but the location is great and the price is reasonable ($28).
Service -1 star Everything felt rushed and I was out in 15 minutes. It was not a busy time and no one was waiting. The barber simply did the bare minimum. The straight razor and hot towel were nice but standard for the price they're charging.
The cut -1 star My haircut is a side-part and honestly extremely simple. I don't wear my glasses to a haircut but when I got a closer look at home, the fade was uneven, edges were not clean, and there were loose strands of long hair everywhere.
Experience -1 star The barber was unmotivated and apathetic. I tried engaging in a conversation about me being new to the area and needing to find a barber. If the guy had any sense about customer loyalty, he would've at least tried to do a better job. The marginal cut was a product of his attitude.
This will be my one and only experience at V's. I will be trying one of the more expensive but higher-rated barbershops...
