Iāve been to the glam room 4 times. My first visit was with Cassandra (Level 2), which I really liked. We cut about 5 inches off and she had good conversation. I was happy! Then things went downhill.
My second appointment was supposed to be with Cassandra again for a trim. I checked in at the front desk and ended up waiting for an hour. Nobody checked in with me, Cassandra fully did someone elseās hair while I sat in the chair waiting, not knowing how long I would be waiting for. No offer for a drink, no apologies for the wait, nothing. I kindly let the receptionist know that I didnāt want to wait any longer and I would reschedule for another time. I thought, itās okay things happen, Iāll book again.
I booked my next appointment with Michelle (Level 5). This appointment went fantastic and they actually did not charge me for this trim, but I tipped well.
I decided I wanted some layers and highlights a few months later. I booked an appt with Mimi (Level 1) because I did not see any availability that fit with my schedule with Cassandra not Michelle. My hair is dark brown and virgin hair and I wanted just very subtle lighter highlights. Mimi applied my highlights with a brush (without sectioning) and Saran Wrap rather than foil because she said she prefers it. She then sat me across the room and I waited for exactly 1.5 hours without a word from her while she completely did someone elseās hair start to finish. I was wondering for a while if she had forgotten about me. She finally shampooed me and proceeded to do an olaplex treatment on my hair that she later charged me for without even asking if I wanted it done. It was not necessary to the color and she did not let me know she was going to do it or I would have declined. Then came the cut. She cut layers and curled my hair, I did not see my layers until she had already curled my hair because she had turned my chair away from the mirror. I loved the way she styled it and was happy leaving the salon, feeling confident, even though I only straighten my hair, never curl it at home. In the next few days I started to realize my layers were an inch longer on the right side of my head than the left. Even my dad noticed, so that says something. My highlights were so splotchy, it looked like she didnāt separate them, because she didnāt, but it was so noticeable. For a $300 experience, I was devastated. I called the salon and explained nicely that I was not happy and they wanted to make it right, so I went back in and Mimi āfixedā the layers, but they still werenāt even. I gave up, and being a shy person, said okay and left, accepting my hair.
Two months later Iām ready to get rid of the layers, Iām over them, they are growing out so strangely and even more uneven. I book an appointment with Kylie (Level 1). At 4:30pm they call me and ask if I can come in earlier, at 7pm instead of 8pm. I say sure I can make it, and rush to the salon after my workout class. When I arrived the receptionist was so nice and offered me wine. Kylie, who I never met before, came over to me and said āAre you Taylorā, to which I replied āYes hi!ā, to which she responded āIām doing my friends hair right now and we just chopped it a lot and Iām running a little behind but itāll be only like 20 minutes is that okay? We tried calling you I thinkā I had no missed calls or voicemails and my phone had been on all evening. They didnāt call me. I was okay with it and felt optimistic that this experience would be better. I said āof course! Iāve got my wine Iām good!ā, thinking that it would only be 20 minutes. 45 minutes passed and Kylie was still cutting and the girls hair was wet. I knew it was going to be at least an hour before she got to me, which put me back at my original time of 8pm. I kindly let the receptionist know that this is not the first bad experience Iāve had here and I was sorry but I was going to leave. She felt so bad and I assured her it was okay I wasnāt mad just wanted to have a better experience, and I left. Iām disappointed because Iāve heard good things but I do not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wish I could leave zero stars. I never leave reviews but feel compelled to write this review to warn all future brides and bridesmaids. Less than 24 hours prior to our appointments, the Glam Room sent a very unprofessional text cancelling SEVEN of our party's hair and makeup appointments for out of town family members on the groom's side already en route to KC. They said they had a pipe burst but that all appointments would be cancelled and that we would be contacted. We legitimately thought it was a spam text and were shocked to learn it was definitely real. I tried calling multiple times to speak with someone and left a voicemail but received NO further communication from them, even though they said they would call. I even tried calling their Overland Park location with no luck. The mother of the groom was able to get through and asked if they would honor our appointments at another location or offsite at our hotel room, since surely they would do anything to make the client happy, and it seemed super reasonable, especially to recover the lost profits on seven hair and makeup appointments for the salon. They cowardly said they would ask their manager and call back but NEVER did. Another member of our group received a follow up call and asked the same question and their response was to reach out to the bride who was also using the Glam Room at the hotel instead and essentially "book through her" aka mooch off of the bride. Less then 24 hours till the bride's big day and they wanted us to interfere with her wedding day timeline, stress her out and affect the quality of her, the mother of the bride and her bridesmaids services by adding SEVEN ADDITIONAL clients to her reservation. Can you imagine? Who would ever do such a thing. We were left high and dry with no accommodations for their crisis and no hair and makeup for our youngest brother/son's BLACK TIE wedding. I understand this was an unforeseen, isolated issue with the pipe bursting but they should have and could have very easily found a solution. So simple to just come to us at the hotel. They did not put the customer first. They did not communicate or follow up. They were unprofessional and an utter disappoint all the way around. Do not put your big day in their hands, otherwise you risk being flaked on, cancelled and completely left out in the lurch with no glam for one of the most important days in your life....
Ā Ā Ā Read more*EDIT: One of the managers reached out upon seeing my review and called to provide clarity on the pricing and services. She was very friendly and understanding of my frustrations. She offered a gift card for my troubles. I am appreciative of their desire to make things right! Adjusting stars from 2 to 4 in light of their actions, as the wait-time still leaves something to be desired.
I was really hoping to leave a better review, but Iām leaving after my second visit sad and $700 poorer. My first appointment was on January 18th at 1pm. I was there for 5 HOURS for a color and cut. My gal was late getting started, then everything else just took longer than expected (as she had to get assistance putting in my highlights and also styling my hair). I requested overall lightening (no highlights, balayage, ombrĆ©, etc.) and a couple inches off, and was charged for a ātrend techniqueā on top of my color charge and haircut: $285.57. There wasnāt much of a change, but I trusted the process since my hair was light brown to start. Now, itās February 15th, Iām back for my second appointment, and Iām excited to continue the journey to lighter hair, especially since this time itāll be less money as Iām not getting a haircut (spoiler alertāit was not). I get there for my appointment, my same gal is 45 minutes late taking me, and my appointment takes 5.5 HOURS this time, with again, assistance from another stylist. They also get bleach on my sweatshirt, staining it. Finally, my hair is done, it does look great, and I head to check out. My total this time.. $389.59! WHAT? I did buy a moisturizer for $39, so less that, $350.59. I requested the SAME service, without a haircut, and it costs more?? Iām once again charged for this ātrend techniqueā that they have yet to explain or tell me about. I call the next day to inquire about the pricing and they say the ātrend techniqueā is for those balayage or ombrĆ© styles. I tell her that I didnāt get any of those, I just requested standard overall lightening, and she says, āoh, well thatās just the charge for the base service.ā So, I guess they charge just what they want and hope you pay for it. Feeling very sad and frustrated because I was hoping this was a salon I could trust and get situated with, but with inconsistent and non-transparent pricing, no respect for your time, and my shirt getting bleached, I think Iāll cut my losses and go...
